Strongly suggest trying a sample before buying!
I bought this for a pre-diabetic miniature horse who will eat ANYTHING. He tried his grain with this supplement once and would not touch it after that. I tried soaking it, adding other grains and even applesauce (which he shouldn't have anyways) and still wouldn't even try it. I tried for a duration of about 2 weeks and still wouldn't even come near his grain. I strongly suggest getting a sample from smartpak before buying because they will only give you a partial credit if you open/use some of the product. Smells good to me and has great ingredients but if the horse won't eat it's pointless and a waste of money.

Metabo-lean
I own a 4 yr old TWH that has never been diagnoses with any metabolic problem but when on pasture, becomes overweight, and has some fatty deposits as well as develops a thick neck. Cash has been on this product for over a year. What a huge difference, while he remains an easy keeper, He no longer has fat around his tail head, neck is trim, as well as his shoulders. His weight remains a battle but this product really helps!! This is a great product.

Helps my insulin resistant horse!
Our 11 year old horse who we got right before Christmas 2016 started developing these fatty, dimple packs all over his body as we brought him up to proper condition/weight. After having blood tests done and x rays of his hooves we learned he previously foundered and was extremely insulin resistant. We started him on this supplement and his fatty packs have gone down a lot. In 6 months we will pull blood again to re-check his levels. NOTE : this supplement has been added to a specific low sugar/carbohydrate insulin resistant diet we are working on with our veterinarian.

Works Great!
My mare has been on this product for two months and has never looked better. She has lost weight without losing condition and her cresty neck is getting softer. I am diligent about weighing her grass hay and making sure she is getting enough exercise. The difference is very noticeable. Thank you SmartPak

Really Helps!
I was skeptical as to whether I would see a difference in my mare on this, as she has been on several other metabolic supplements, as well as levothyroxine, to try to get weight off and get her IR under control. After only a month on this, I can already see a difference in her! It's not cheap, but I'm glad to pay for something that works, and this supplement delivers!

Might be a great product but my mare won't eat it
The first few times I gave it to her, she ate it. But after that, she refuses to touch it. The website says it is for picky eaters but I have a mare that won't touch it. It smells good!

Really works!
After a little over one month on SmartMetabo-Lean Pellets, my obese IR horse lost over 50 lbs. Nothing in his diet needed to be changed since he was already on a forage and supplements that were low carb. He is just one of those horses with that thrifty genes. I'd like to see him loose more weight over the next few months.

REALLY Works !!!
My once ravenous mare is now able to be fed unlimited hay & she will walk away !!! Very Exciting as she would Never STOP eating & also her potbelly is gone even though it's dead of winter so she's not been ridden, also her topline has filled out - Best she has ever looked !!!

Dramatic improvement
In just a month my cresty necked fjord gelding who had fat nuggets (pockets) on his shoulders, hips, and butt has trimmed down. The nuggets are gone, his neck is less cresty and he has much more energy.

Vet recommended
Two miniature horses with metabolic problems. Fat deposits on neck. Vet read ingredients and said this is the best thing to do for my little horses. The company has custom packed small doses for my miniatures.

A great piece of the puzzle
I have two geldings on this product now, and both LOVE the taste. One receives two scoops per day to manage insulin resistance. The other is a 15 y/o Morgan that I have had about a month. He came to me extremely obese with many fat deposits and sore feet, so my top priority for him is supporting healthy weight loss. Between diet adjustments (no more rich grass!), more exercise with the herd in my large dry lot, and support from this supplement, he has been steadily dropping weight. His odd fat deposits are regaining normal appearance and his body is feeling firmer and much less spongy. His crest is soft, and his movement is increasingly comfortable (downright impressive, really!). I think this product is a big boost to his nutritional support and I will continue to use it in combination with SmartVite Thrive for a balanced multi-vitamin.

Managing Glucose Intolerance
I believe this product has helped me to control glucose intolerance in my Missouri Foxtrotters. I still pasture them early in the morning and have stopped soaking hay without inflammation flare ups.!

Not a Miracle Pill but a Piece of the Puzzle
I've been using this on my chunky mare for 2mo now and yes, her cresty neck is softening but I'm not ready to give these pellets all the credit as we've made many changes all at once. She's in much better shape than she was and it's been part of her strict feed program so we'll continue it for now

Helps.
Not a cure for insulin resistance. However, my IR horses don't have all the fat pillows that some IR horses have, or even as many as they used to have. When combined with diet restrictions and exercise, Metabolean allows horses to have SOME time out on pasture, so they don't have to be confined to a stall or dry lot 24/7.

My pony won't eat them!
I asked for a trial to see if my pony (who eats almost anything) would eat the MetaboLean pellets. I was told to add unsweetened apple sauce if she refused to eat them. My pony ate them for a few days then stopped liking them. I tried apple sauce, sweet grain, and alfalfa pellets but she still wouldn't eat them. Now I have all these extra supplements that I can't use. :( I'm sure they would have great effects if my pony ate them.

Awesome product.
I started using the smart metabolean about 7 weeks ago.
There has been a huge difference in my mare both mentally and physically.
She has lost some weight and her attitude is a lot nicer. In addition to her fat deposits she had awful smelling urine and all of those symptoms have cleared up.
This product is definitely worth it for me.

Did not seem to help
I have used multiple different metabolic supplements for my easy keeper over the years and was very excited to try this one. I love SmartPak brand supplements and have great luck, but this has been the exception. My pony lives mostly out, but we have a footed dry lot for her to live in when not wearing a muzzle. She has struggled with weight gain problems over the last few years and really struggled this winter. I was hoping that this supplement would keep the weight off or at least keep her the same, but it did neither. For awhile, it kept her shape the same which I was pleased with but now that the grass was coming up she seemed to be gaining again. I have since switched supplements and she has been on the new supplement for a week and has had drastic improvement. This may work on mild cases, but it did not work for my horse. She has been tested for IR and other like problems, and has been negative. She's just an appy pony who loves food!

It works for us!
I did my own experimentation on our draft cross - put him on for a month, took him off for a month, put him back on the supplement - did not change diet or exercise levels. Definitely improved the fat pads on his ribs as well as the crestiness of his neck. Our easy keeper wears a muzzle when turned out on our very lush pastures and is maintained on an excellent ration balancer with his supplements. He is less fat on the SmartMetabo-Lean Pellets!

Seems to be working
My Walker had a bout of Lamanitis last spring. Since then he has been getting Metabo-Lean. No issues so far and seems sounder than he has ever been. Hopefully this will continue this spring.
