Rated 5 out of 5 by SmartPaker Alissa from Perfect Solution for Broken Halter! This replacement crownpiece was a great fit for my SmartPak Breakaway Halter! My horse sadly got upset on the crossties one day and broke the original breakaway strap that came with his halter, so this replacement strap was the perfect solution and saved me from having to buy an entirely new halter. I have been very happy with the leather quality even after about six months of use, which is especially impressive as my horse lives outside so this halter is hanging on the fence out in the elements 24/7. In fact, the strap is showing very little signs of any wear or cracking in the leather. Fingers crossed my horse keeps up his good behavior and doesn't break this crownpiece too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Solidaccount from Not as thick as the original weaver one It’s a nice piece of leather, however, it is thinner in all directions compared to the original weaver leather crown that was on the halter. I have yet to have it put the break point stress so I cannot attest to strength as of yet.

For medical reasons my horse has to wear a halter 24/7 and lives out full time, so got these as replacements for my Smartpak breakaway nylon halter. My only complaint is that the ends on both sides have curled upwards and look pretty ridiculous. Likely this is due to being out in wet weather, then drying in the sun and not getting any leather care (as I want them to remain fragile).

It is the first time I have ordered something from Smartpak and been surprised by inferior quality. The leather is flimsy, unstitched, and cheap. I cannot recommend that anyone purchase this item.
