Great leather halter replacement
I only put my horses out to pasture with leather halters or nylon halters with leather "breakaway" crowns....this was perfect to replace a broken "breakaway crown". I bought a few as spares!

Breaks away so easily
I've always thought break away halters were a good idea. Well my horse pulled back once-not very hard and the top piece broke. I immediately replaced it with an extra and 2 days later he was loose. No one witnessed any trouble. I believe he quickly learned how to break free. Back to a standard halter and the break free goes to the consignment store.

Exactly what I needed
This is the perfect breakaway leather piece. Having sensitive horses means breakaway halters. Keeping these replacement pieces on hand is a must. This leather piece can handle everyday use and can withstand the sun and rain but does just what it's suppose to if my horse gets spooked in the cross ties.

Does it's job!
Great price for a quality product that does it's job. My horse doesn't tie well and sometimes he sets back unexpectedly. This strap provides just enough resistance that more often than not, he quickly resumes standing tied without issue. It also provides a safe breakaway level and prevents everyone from getting hurt.

Breakaway Halter
I bought this and it broke again because it did it's job by breaking away when needed.

Glad to have it!
One of my horses chewed the leather on my breakaway halter when it was hung up. It's still useable but doesn't look good. I was glad you had a replacement.

Wonderful Piece of Equipment
I bought this a few months ago as a replacement crownpiece. My horse does not tie super well, so it is very important to me that it give under strong pressure. This piece served admirably, held on a few occasions when he tested it, but gave when he had a real freakout moment tonight. I am so happy that it broke when it did! I just finished ordering a second one.

breakaway halter crown -ok
Good to have on hand but lightweight. Found an old halter crown piece to use, will keep this one to have on hand, just in case.

I have one of these breakaway halters. My horse does not tie well. It is great to be able to replace these on a whim.

The leather seems to be a decent quality although I was hoping it would be a little thicker.

Higher Quality than the original crown.
Our horses are turned out with halters on at the boarding barn we are at. Love the quality of these pieces and that we can trust them to do the job they are made to do. The first crown piece was several years old before it broke with a naughty senior horse in the wash rack. Great product.

Good value
This replacement crown is less robust than the original piece; however, because one would want the halter to break away, this is a good thing because if/when a horse pulled back there would be less pressure on the horse's poll, and therefore a lower likelihood of injury. The price is affordable and in the future, I will order another one to have on hand so that I can immediately put my halter back into service. It is definitely cheaper than buying a new halter!

Works for my needs
For the price the leather is good. I read the other reviews claiming the leather was cheap, I sometimes have issues if the leather is too thick it won't break away and my horse will just break a different part of the halter. So I say this leather is perfect for break away needs, and looks nice enough!

Very thin
I bought this as a replacement for a breakaway crown that had been damaged. The quality is thin as I would expect for a breakaway function, but its actully super thin. I am a little worried about it holding up to normal use.

Nice and thin and high quality leather crown piece, classes up my geldings around the barn halter. Mine came in a darker color than I expected.

Great replacement!
My horse continually breaks his leather straps...which is why he has a breakaway halter in the first place. This replacement is sturdy and flashy!

Cheaply made
Broke first day of use. My horse was tied with bailing twine on end of cross ties. Strap broke and bailing twine did not.

I hope this will do the job
My horse's older break-away actually broke when he got spooked in the cross-tie, thereby doing its job. Now, this product looks a bit nicer than my old one, made by different company. It is hard to tell whether or not this break-away piece will do its job when it has to, but thus far, I am happy the way it looks. For the break-away feature, the leather looks really nice.

This is a really decent replacement crown for a breakaway halter. It wasn't quite the quality I expected, but it is durable and you can't beat the price.

Gets the Job Done!
Does the job. Don't know if it will hold up if horse decides to pull back, but that's why we have the Equi-ping (which works amazingly). That or bailing twine. But bailing twine might be stronger than this crownpiece, can't say for sure.

Not as nice as the old one
I have a 4 year old arab cross, and like most 4 year olds he can be spooky about some things. I ordered this replacement crown for my baker halter when he snapped the last one because a dog darted through the barn while he was in cross ties. The replacement was not nearly as heavy as the original, and did not last nearly as long. Two weeks after putting the replacement on his halter he freaked out at the gate and it snapped. I understand that these are designed to break away, however he had hardly pulled back when it snapped. This would not be a good replacement choice for anyone who has a heavy puller, otherwise order at least two to keep one on hand for the inevitable snap.
