Rated 2 out of 5 by from YUCK! Can't get horse to eat it Just bought this (unfortunately in large bucket) and my horse won't go near it. This is not a picky eater and I've tried mixing it with apple sauce, peppermint oil and watermelon smoothie. Nothing works, wasted $150. I will return to using Carb balance for his metabolic issues.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from He won't eat the new formula! I loved the Smart-IR formula - my horse ate it, and it gave him all his vitamins in one product. Unfortunately, whatever was changed in the new formula, he won't eat. With a CS reps help, we will try 2 other supplements to try to meet his needs.I love SmartPak - but my horse doesn't like this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from He's shedding normally for the first time in years My 22 year old gelding has had a mild case of IR for years. I'd been managing it with feed choices until last August when he grass foundered. After the initial emergency with that I put him on this supplement. I've been happy with his condition over the winter, but the last few weeks I've had a sure sign something is different for him. This spring, for the first time in years, he is shedding normally. He has always been late to shed, but last year was the first time I had to clip him out. This year though he is shedding right along with everyone else. That, along with his bright eyes and the spring in his step, tell me he is feeling better. He's still aging and he's still IR, but I feel good knowing I'm helping to keep him as comfortable as possible in his retirement years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't know quite yet I have an endurance horse that grass-foundered four years ago. After trying the products the vet offered (Metaboleze and something else... ugh), I discovered Quiessence and D-Carb Balance. The products the vet recommended were difficult to administer and provided no results. The Quiessence worked to take down her cresty neck while I worked on her feet. But the D-Carb Balance worked best. Easy to administer and visible results. After a year of recovering from the founder, this horse has been completing every endurance ride she's entered (except a lameness pull at Tevis). I liked the ingredients in this product (especially the magnesium and chromium). I'm not a big fan of the larger pellet size. Since the dose is small, it seems like the dose can vary. I'm not seeing the positive change I did with D-Carb Balance. That seems to cause me to go back to the D-Carb Balance. I really do appreciate the "Smart" formulations. It's winter. So it's difficult to say. My vet said she's in good flesh, which she is. My other two butterballs have recently been put on a diet and exercise program.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My horse really likes it. I am on my third month of SmartControl IR...my horse has a cresty neck and put on too much weight over the summer. This is part of his weight loss program. A friend of mine claimed it seemed to make her Cushing's pony more satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite sure but don't want to stop I have been giving this to my overweight(by me) paso fino he is a great horse but gains weight with the wind and I haven't been riding barely at all. I think this supplement has been helping as I believe he would be allot heavier if not on it. He still has a cresty like neck ,but he's a paso and they tend to have more of a heavier neck. To be honest I'm not 100%this is working but I don't want to stop to find out. I have very lush pasture in the summer months so I'm afraid. Unless I excessive him 4x a week he will always be a little overweight because I believe in letting them forage or hay plenty of hay in the winter. He eats it ,but doesn't love it. He's not a picky eater so I'm not sure if your horse will scoff this supplement down.
