Easy to use every day if needed!
o I am a big believer in icing your horses’ legs after a hard workout, especially if they have worn boots during their ride since any sort of leg protection can increase leg heat. I often ride with wraps on my mare’s hind legs and while I’ve tried other post-ride ice boots in the past, it seems most styles leave her feeling restricted and she gets the need to wiggle on the cross ties. However, with these, she stands quiet and content for her 15 minute icing sessions. She is finer-boned and is typically wears horse/full size in boots and wraps on her hind legs, and I am very happy with the fit of SmartTherapy Ice Leg Wrap. They come below her hocks and I keep them snug, which is wrapping them about as tight as they’ll go. I could have sized down, but I often ride other horses at my barn and the size fits my bigger mount who is a Morgan/Friesian cross, so I find these boots very universal.

Misses the mark
Material is nice (neoprene outer and insulated inner layer works well) and design shows promise but these miss the mark for a few reasons. The boots are too short (don't reach the base of the knee on my 15.3 horse); should add one more row of ice cells to the design). The gel doesn't stay cold for a full 20 minutes on the leg. Finally, the gel compartments aren't fully contained so the gel sinks towards the fetlock during use leaving little to cool the upper part of the cannon bone.

Unfortunately a no for me
I was really looking forward to this product because I have the Smart Therapy quarter sheet and really love it. I was excited because these boots go further down on the leg, however, these ice leg wraps are not a favorite of mine. There is only one piece of velcro in the top of the wrap, and the length of the velcro is not the same length as the velcro on the ice pack itself. There is no velcro on the bottom to hold the ice pack and the boot together at all, and the lack of velcro makes keeping the ice pack in place while actually putting on the wrap nearly impossible. I tried these boots because they went lower on the leg, and now I just wish that I had purchases the EquiFit brand.
