As riders and online shoppers, we know it can be tough to buy a new bridle or pair of boots without trying them on. That's why we moved the fitting room to your living room (or barn)! From breeches to blankets, if you or your horse can try it on, you can return it, free! Just use the pre-paid return label included in your order within 60 days from the purchase date. And of course, please make sure the item is in like-new condition with original packaging (we said 'fitting room', not 'war room'!).

Why We Love This

Feed your hay smarter with the SmartPak Small Hole Hay Net! With smaller openings than an average hay net, this hay net restricts access to the hay inside so your horse will slow down and enjoy his hay longer, and you'll have a whole lot less waste. Ideal for travel, as you'll have to fill up less frequently, and your horse won't leave as much behind. Also great for horses who need limited access for dietary reasons.

Favorite Features

  • NEW design, 2x wider opening to make loading hay a breeze!
  • 42" Diameter
  • 3 1/2 cm holes for restricted access to hay

SmartPak Small Hole Hay Net - NEW! is rated 4.4282 out of 5 by 383.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works exactly as described In my ten years of using small hole hay nets, this one is by far the best. The holes are small enough to make one full hay bag last all night, even for my greedy eater. The attached pictures illustrates the daisy chain that I use to close the bag and the carabiner loop that I use to hang it. Note that I put both the rope and a loop from the bag through the carabiner, a condition which I think helps to prevent the daisy chain from becoming too tight and hard to untie when filling the bag. To make filling the bag easier, I open up the bag as wide as it will go and insert it into a rope handled muck bucket. To keep the bag from getting stuck on the rope handles, I remove them. Since I have been using it less than a month, I cannot comment on its durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best hay net I have the nibblenet which i really like and i have purchased multiple different slow feed hay nets. this one is the best, soft but strong netting, holds a large amount of hay. this is my 2nd time to purchase this net.... my others are still in perfect condition, i just like to have many bags made up to use. i feed three horses two fairly full bags twice daily. i highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does it's job! It's has only been a few weeks, but I saw this hay nets worth after the first day!! It holds plenty of hay for my horse. My horse is like a vacuum when it comes to eating hay, he could finish his evening hay is 25-30 minutes easy. But now, it lasts a good 2 1/2 hours or more!! I feel better knowing that his eating time is extended and he's got something to keep him busy! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from big opening, easy to load I have other small hole hay bags and they are a pain to fill. This bag opens up without resistance allowing you to load the hay easily! My ulcer prone horse has hay to nibble on all day, buy several bags so you can load on weekend and stable help only has to hang them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am very happy with these hay bags. All three of my geldings really like their feed and were pretty fast eaters when their hay was just fed out of a tub. Now they eat at a more even pace throughout the day and it keeps them busy if they are just in their runs. These seem to simulate grazing patterns more and the horses are not fasting for hours during the day. I highly recommend these bags. Since I have to buy three of everything, the price point was important to me and I am very happy with the quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect slow feeding Perfect for shows or trailer rides. Keeps their attention and doesn't waste all of the hay on the ground.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far, So Good Haven't had the net very long, but my Paso adapted to it immediately, seems to be taking a lot longer to finish his hay and it is easy to fill and hand. We are quite happy with it. I bought two so I could use one for each main meal...I prepare the evening feed in the morning. I have high hope this will keep him happily eating for a long period of time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product Have a friend who purchased this hay net some time ago and it performed fairly well for her. So I feel confident it will perform as well for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to fill, strong I really like this because it is so easy to fill and holds at least 4 flakes. Very strong. Good buy. Ordering a few more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Doesn't slow him down much but seems durable My easy keeper still manages to polish off his dinner faster than I'd like so I really can't say this works well for my horse as a slow feeder. However, I do have to rave about durability. The beast tends to eat through hay nets like they are made of straw, and this one has lasted almost a month already (honestly, after I hung it, I turned to a barn-mate and I bet on 2 days, tops). So, I have to give kudos to materials and durability. I know a month isn't long, but for my monster it's a near-miracle. It's also really easy to load. If it actually did slow down his intake I'd be giving it more stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for slowing down feed rate. I bought these a month ago when I had a pony move in with my horse. I feed first and second crop and wanted to slow both of them down but still keep them busy for long periods of time. They are working out great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great The size of the holes keeps the hay in the net not on the floor where it is wasted.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to Use My horse seems to like this slow feeder better than the one I had previously. It is lighter weight and a little less "banging" around up against her box stall while she is trying to negotiate getting the hay out. She seems to work at this one a little better and so the hay lasts longer. The opening on the holes seem to be smaller than the previous one I had for her.... but she seems to enjoy working to get the hay out. I just started using it and want to see how it holds up but initial assessment is good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome buy We spend $40 for a similar net at a local store. Was very happy to find it for a much lower price

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greedy horses foiled again! These are the second set of SmartPak small hole hay nets I've bought. The first set lasted just about 2 years with constant abuse from 2 horses who are convinced they're starving to death. The nets hold quite a bit of hay (if you want them to!) but don't allow horses to take big bites, the horses have to work to get their fix! Horses busy working these hay nets are horses who aren't getting into trouble. Tough, durable and they work - I love, love, love! these nets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from small hole hay bag I purchased this hay bag to slow down the rate my horse was eating hay. It does the job. It holds a good amount of hay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expected better from Smartpak This hay net could be improved by adding metal rings at the top where the draw cord runs and a center metal ring at the bottom to clip to. For the price, I would have expected a better quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product I bought this hay net for my gelding who is a very aggressive eater. He is much more content in his stall now as this hay net keeps him busy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps my OTTB entertained all night! I bought this haynet to keep my OTTB from chewing the barn down and pacing his stall when he is in at night. Did the trick and also the barn manager claims there is zero wasted hay in the stall now as well. Everyone is happy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good and bad I've now had this for a year. It's a great product, I just wish that the holes were smaller since we use a finer hay. The horses get it out too easy now. I would still buy it again. I love the size. It easily fits over half of a square bale of hay. All around I give 8/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps ponies entertained for hours This works great for a rainy or snowy day when I can't do turnout. Put a flake or two in here and my welsh ponies have entertainment for a couple hours

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for a bored horse I bought this a month ago for my energetic horse that's on stall rest. Even though she's pretty aggressive when she eats, it has held up so well and the holes are small enough to keep her entertained.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does just what it says it will My Hoover mare (as in the vacuum) scarfed up her hay in a regular net or from a hay bin in about 45 minutes. Now she takes hours and is kept busy. She has a huge corral, but at this time of year is not out on pasture much because it's too wet and slick. I'm thankful someone got smart and made the holes smaller. This net is well made and I like the slippery nylon because the it's easy to open for loading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent inexpensive net I started out with Nibble Nets, but, have switched to these nets because they are so much easier to load, they hold more, and I believe they will last longer with at least one of my horses. I have one horse who is a "bucket banger" and he threw the Nibble Nets around so much that he had ripped his in less than 30 days. I had a friend using the SmartPak nets with great success. I've had my SmartPak nets about 30 days and my bucket banger hasn't damaged his at all!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality... LARGE opening. Holds tons of hay! Keeps my horse busy for hours!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I bought this because we have a horse that will over eat. This is a great way to slow down the hay and it still keeps her entertained while we haul her.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice to feed the horses slowly during the night. The only problem I have is there so hard to load by yourself.
    Date published: 2014-11-18
Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect value This is a great little hay bag to keep in the trailer. The smaller holes keeps the boys busy and it is not so messy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very helpful My mare is on stall rest for 45 days after having lived in a pasture with a run-in and wasn't too thrilled with the idea for a while. She was wasting a lot of hay and was bored so I tried this. She likes eating hay from it. It's been about 3 weeks and she has ripped a hole in it. It's not the easiest hay net to fill, but it does the job!
