huge drop in quality, sacrificing horses, safety.
Quality has gone down in a large way. I bought some black ones a couple years ago and they were amazing. All they would do is the bars would twist and you could straighten them out and everything would be great. I’ve since replaced some of those with other colors whatever was on sale and also some black ones. the orange ones are absolute junk. They follow part super fast like other people say having that bar come out is really dangerous and can put out an eye. . Best to not have it at all.. The burgundy ones are a little better than the orange they last longer, but they also fail at the bar.. Some reason the black color seems to hold up the best..

Best Slow Feeder Hay Bag
This is hands down the best slow feeder hay bag out there!! I own 8 of these and they are the best. My oldest one is 5yrs old and still works like new. The Velcro tends to get hay in it but nothing a quick brush can't fix. I can easily fit almost a half bale in the larger one. We take them to horse shows and when the weather is nasty, we'll hang them in the horse's shelter to keep them busy. My horses like to use the hay bag vs a flake of hay on the ground.

Beware - potentially dangerous product
Buyer beware. This is a terrible and potentially dangerous product. There is a metal strip that runs through a channel at the top of the bag. After using it for several months I noticed that the metal had popped through the channel exposing a sharp edge. When I called Smart Pak they said "oh that happens". Not an acceptable response. This product is dangerous - a horse could put its eye out the sharp metal edge.

Durable hay net/bag for my very large horse
The large is just big enough. The webbing is much more durable than any other net I have tried (LOTS). I hang it between 2 rings. By placing the snaps in the second row below the metal at the top it has removed the strain and the metal is not bending or coming out of the webbing. This is the best hanging hay bag/net I have found. It would be better if it was a bit bigger.

Poor quality for price
I bought this product a little over a month ago. I was really liking at first since it allowed my horse to eat throughout the day and not all within the hour. However, this product is already starting to come apart. Considering the short period of time and the fact my horse isn’t rough on equipment, I’m very disappointed in the quality of this product.

Buy the big one!
The two flake net is small. Buy the big one. My horse doesn’t like this net. I’ve used it two weeks. The quality is there but I can’t use them, she walks away. I’m going to donate them.

Excellent easy fill net
I bought this a few weeks ago and it has held up very well with 24/7 use and three horses in the pasture/paddock. So easy to fill! The four flake net is definitely more of a large 2 or 3 flake, but otherwise it’s perfect!

Lots to Like Here
I've got two bags still going strong after 3 years of daily use. Yes, the velcro at the top gets full of hay and stops working so well but it doesn't affect use in my opinion. These bags slow them down a bit in eating and keep hay from being wasted. Ordering two more today and these re my favorite hay bags of all I've tried and that is several brands.

Great concept, poor execution
Great concept, but the design is poor. You'll never get one flake in the two flake bag without a fight. If you happen to have bales with wonderful, think, heavy flakes you'll have to break them up and stuff the bag like a scarecrow.
I returned the two flake bags and ordered the four flake bags. These fit 2-3 good sized flakes well. The construction, overall design, Ave workmanship are great, but the "2 flake" bag should either be removed from production or the opening should be moved to the long side. Extremely frustrating to fill.

Love them but improvement needed
I've purchased 4 of the 4 flake bags (learned the hard way that a 2 flake bag is only good for a trailer snack size). I love them except the thin metal bar sewn into the top (to make the gator mouth) gets all twisted and bent, even with daily correcting. All of the bags have had the metal bar poke thru the tough nylon and I've had to try to shove the bar back in far enough to hand stitch it back together with upholstery thread. I honestly wish the bar wasn't in there, but I couldn't pull it out of the tops even when they wore a hole in the end. The benefit of the metal isn't worth possible eye damage to me. The bag works just as well with a "saggy" top since the velcro keeps it closed.

Best hay bag ever!
My area is famous for sand colic so I need to feed in a bag. This is a perfect mesh of bag and net…regular nets get caught up in my goat’s horns and regular bags have too big holes. I just ordered another.

Good try, but not quite.
I bought this hoping it would be easy to load and simple. It works for about a week and then the stiff material on the top of the net sags and makes it pretty useless.

Worth the cost - Longest lasting hay net I’ve used
Horses are hard on stuff, especially stuff they eat out of. These have lasted several years! I have 2 from before SP added the metal inserts to the openings to make them easier to load and 4 from after. I find they’re easier to use without the metal “enhancement”, wish they’d offer a version without it.
I have 6 that are used daily and of them the only damage is:
- the bottom seam has a 6” hole in one. Planned to sew it back but have continued to use it as is and it still does the job
- the metal in the top (that they added to make it easier to load them) poked through. I pulled the full piece of metal out with minimal effort and kept using the bag without it.

Buythe bigger bag
I own two of the old "two flake" bags and when I recently received 2 new "two flake" bags and could hardly fit one tight flake in it, I measured and found that they are 3" narrower and 3-4" shorter than the older "two flake" bags. I could never fit 2 flakes in this and I do weigh my hay so I know its 10 pounds . Unless you were maybe stuffing loose hay in it , this bag is way too small for daily feeding. I have to return and now buy the bigger bag. It would be helpful-and important- to list the dimensions of the bags on the description

Love this bag!
I have used these now for a couple years. Love it because:
1. Saves on hay
2. Great for the trailer when traveling.
3. Great at shows. I take multiple when I go and rotate them. 1 he’s eating out of now, hang two overnight and an extra for the first bag in the morning. I keep my hay in the trailer and refill for the day. Saves me dragging bales all over the place and they are easy to transport to the stalls.

So disappointed in this bag!
I have 4 of these in various sizes and colors. My old black ones from a few years ago are still in use, although the metal strips in the top are all twisted. I bought the navy colored version recently in the 4 flake size. I bought 2 to allow for ease of use for the barn manager. I alternate the bags and only one horse uses it. I’ve had it only a few months and the metal strip in the top worked it’s way out overnight and I found it in the floor if the stall. It was a sudden failure and disappointed me as I flattened the strip out after every use to keep it from twisting like in my old bags. I’m back to using my old bag again now. Maybe this was a quality issue in this particular bag, but they’re nit cheap and I don’t want to risk paying for a replacement that may not hold up. :(

Barely fits a flake
Not sure what kind of flakes they're using for their measurements, but I can barely fit one in the two flake sized bag.

The best hay net/slow feeder available
I’ve tried literally every slow feeder out there from the thinner standard hay nets to the expensive slow feeders that you place on the ground. This is the only one I can stand filling because it holds itself open & since it’s more structured than normal hay nets, it doesn’t spin all over the place when they’re eating from it. It’s also very portable unlike the ground slow feeders so you can use it in a trailer. I’ve had mine since 2018 & they’re still doing great. The hook & loop closure is pretty easy to clean out in a few seconds with a shedding blade or dog slicker brush so it still closes nicely.
The only change I’d like is to have a bigger net, I currently have the 4 flake nets. Would be super cool to have one that can fit 6 or even 8 flakes but I don’t mind filling multiple 4 flake nets. I can easily fit 4 flakes if not more in them by stuffing the corners really well & it still closes around all the hay

Easy to use!!
This bag is much easier to use than a hay net. Horsey is on daily turnout w/ stall time at night or during the day, depending on the season. He eats alfalfa, which is heavy and messy. This bag is easy to load and the hook& loop closure at the top is great! I was looking for a better alternative to dumping it on the floor (messy!) or using a net (laborious!). I ordered the 2 flake size and it is huge! Will easily hold more than that.

great quality
Although I've only use the hay bag for a short time, it appears to be well made and very sturdy. My horse isn't hard on things and uses it at only his pm feed so I anticipate it should stand up. I will say it can be difficult to fit 4 flakes, but guessing it depends on the size of flakes. Overall very pleased

Great for slowing down quick eaters!
I bought this for my Cobb cross who eats hay like it's an Olympic Speed Sport and it really helps her slow down. The small holes make it much more difficult for her to get large pieces at a time and it really helps slow down her eating time at shows!
