Poor construction
I'm not happy with the construction of this hay bag. The top loops that hold the rope to hang the net up are coming apart. I've had to tie them to the hay net with baling twine to keep them secure. The rope that is used to hang the net up is to thick and the material it's made of is very slippery and it will not stay tied. The hay nets are only a few weeks old. Thumbs down on this hay net.

do not recommend the small size.
I ordered the small size. When it came it was huge. I called to see if I was sent wrong size and was told no it is the small size and it's very large for a small size. Also the tie rope came out of the net loops and I had to rethread it. I ended up using a heavy close line as it secures much better and stays in better. I have bought the net with the metal rings and that was made better and a better size.

Best Haynet Ever
I have several of these hay nets in the small black/blue size and I will never purchase another haynet! The bag size is perfect and fits 3-5 flakes which lasts them about 12 hours before needing a refill! I have had these hay nets since 2016 and am just now starting to make repairs on the oldest ones, I am very impressed with the durability and longevity of these nets - especially since my gelding is not a 'dainty' eater by any means! Will absolutely purchase them again whenever they become unrepairable.

Best Hay Net!
Love this hay net! I got one for Christmas last year and am always using it over the 3-4 other nets I have. I can fit nearly a whole 45-55lb square bale in and love the ring on the bottom (part of the reason I asked specifically for this net). The net stretches to accommodate the hay and the holes are the perfect size for slow feeding without restricting the horse too much (or making them frustrated). I'm replacing all of my other nets with these now!

Easy to fill, fit a while bale and hold up well!
I love these. They're easy to put an entire bale of hay into, my saddlebreds have access to hay 24/7 and eat a bale in about 3 days with these. They last about 6 months with daily use before I see any wear and tear, and using shoelace or bailing twine for minor repairs I have a few of these nets that I've been using for two years!

Great net with thoughtful features!
I have an IR pony, who lives in a small lot, so I use many hay bags to keep her busy with her small allotment of soaked hay every day. This bag is great! The size of the holes is just right (not too small, not too big...maybe 1.5"?), the bag is easy to load because it is stretchy, and although I wasn't sure I would like the big metal ring at the bottom, I love it! It makes it so easy to hang and use. I also appreciated that the bag came with extensive instructions on how and why to use the bag, and also how to safely hang a hay bag.

Best hay nets!
Been using these Shires nets for several
years. They last a long time, are a perfect size (blue ones- red are huge and are better for loose hay), and the metal ring at the bottom makes them very easy to hang. After about six months the horses eat holes in them, so I replace. I run a retirement farm and the horses share the nets in their sheds, so the nets get a workout every day!
Great price at SmartPak! I hope they get off backorder soon!

Hole size could be better at the top and bottom.
I really like the construction of this hay net, as it is not flimsy. I also like the heavy duty ring at the bottom. However, the holes at the top that the string is run through are larger than they should be, and this allows a (diabolical) eater to wrench out the hay. The holes are tapered very small around the ring at the bottom, which makes it hard to run the string through if you are tying it up. All in all a good haynet, but smaller holes in the very top row and a tiny bit larger around the bottom ring would make it perfect. I tie up hay nets every.single.day for a pair of champion hay wasters, hence my nit-picking. :-)
Overall it's still a very good haynet compared to another one i purchased recently (not from Smartpak), whose flimsy string broke in the first week and had HUGE gaps at the top.

Nicest hay net I have ever purchased!
This is truly the best hay net I have ever purchased! Very well made, tons of room- it fits an entire bale of hay, I love that it shrinks up as my horse eats the hay and it becomes less full.
