This is a BIG help
I bought this knowing we were dipping into the low teens at night. It definitely makes a difference. While water is going to freeze when it gets into the teens and single digits, this helps sustain it longer and keeps it from freezing so thick. The horses drink more. I am not beating buckets as hard because they are not frozen like a rock...a win-win!! These did exactly what I hoped they would do.

Disappointed
Did not perform at all. Top tore off after 1 week of use. Disappointing!

Effective for the money
I purchased one for my livestock dog’s water bucket. It’s going on its 3rd winter and its very effective! I bring hot water out each evening and it takes nearly 24 hours for it to even form an ice crust. Our temps regularly go into the single digits overnight outside, but within the barn is generally 15-20°F.
My playful gelding has hard plastic insulators and this bucket insulator is a competitive alternative at a quarter of the price.

Doesn’t work with playful, mischievous horses
They are lovely. I really like them. They feel kind of like a down jacket for your water bucket. They have Velcro in the back and around the rim to attach the two pieces. Sadly they lasted from when they were discovered about 15 min. My horse pulled 2 of these bucket warmers of both buckets within five minutes. These will work very well if you have a horse that doesn’t play with things in their surrounding areas. My horse is checking everything out that she can get between her teeth or hoofs. What I want to give them credit for is that they did not really break. Just on velcro patch came off, the bucket warmer withstood my Frisian.

Actually water, way less ice!!!
These are out in 0 degree weather and while they will freeze it will take hours as opposed to minutes. If it's in the teens often I have chilly but still drinkable water. My horses and goats love them!

I was really excited about these so I bought two for a couple stalls in a closed barn. A very thin layer of ice forms when it hits the 20s. When it got lower than 10 degrees, you might as well not use them as the buckets froze and the insulation kept them frozen longer than the non insulated bucket. If you dont live where it gets lower than 15 degrees then it should work.

Velcro is not a good option to hold bucjrt on...velcro gets dirty and does not hold. Does help keep buckets from freezing

Bucket cover
Got this to insulate a bucket. No directions on how to put it on. Irritating. Threw it in a junk pile.

Worked
I received this for Christmas and I use it when I need to heat up a bucket of water with the bucket heater. In 9 degree weather the other night it sped up the time needed to get the water hot enough for mash and managed to keep the water from freezing overnight. For what I use it for I am thrilled!

Save your money
Doesn't work in negative/single digit temps. Ice will still form on the surface of the water overnight. Additionally, these are a pain to get off and on and attach and even worse when they accidentally and inevitably get wet. Trust me, I wish they worked!
