90% UV blocking!! Good value for price
I've got a gelding with chronic keratitis (corneal problems) UV blockage seems to help alleviate some of the flare ups. We own lots of masks. I've been happy with the smartpak brand ones also but this one has an even higher percent of effectiveness. The mask is light weight has held up well so far for the several weeks we've used it. Seems comfortable and stays on, although he is not turned out with a bunch of roughnecks. It has one sturdy velcro strap. Not sure if it would stand up to hard play/tugging but stays on with generalized goofiness, rolling and rubbing. He is a big trakehner with a slender large head. The regular horse size fits and snugs well with plenty of room for a bigger horse's jaw. I like it enough I'd buy another.

Fits well, no rubs, does the job!
I bought one last year for my Arabian mare who usually houses a whole colony of flies in her ears. It lasted the season and kept her much happier than other versions. Love the ears. Fleece lining kept the face safe. Bought one this year for my 17HH TB gelding who plays constant halter tag. So fat (1 month in) it’s holding up well for him too with no rubs and clean ears!

Great visibility and lots of eye clearance
This is the second shires fly mask I have tried other cheaper ones but never happy with them the shores washes well and my horses eyes have plenty of room

It stays on!
I have tried many fly masks, and my horse was able to get them off. I would find a dirty crumpled mess that I paid good money for trampled in the dirt. I've used this for about 2 weeks now and it stays on! The fine mesh also keeps out those pesky no seeum flies. I will buy another one when this wears out.

Great value
I go through a lot of fly masks as my horses love to grab each others ears. This fly mask has held up great and I love that it is lightweight and not a heavy mask. Holds up well in the Arizona heat.

Exceptional fit and function.
This mask is everything I hoped for. The mesh is more sheer so I can see her eyes. There is no seam in her field of view or in front of her eyes. The structure of the mask keeps the mesh well away from her eyes. The double Velcro straps allow for more individualized fit. In short, it’s perfect. Oh, and the ears fit too. No pressure on the base of her ears, and no three extra inches hanging off the tips.

Best Fly Mask By Far
I have four of these that I bought for 2 horses over the last 2 years. They are very well made and have black fine mesh that I think allows the horses to see through them better than thicker or lighter colored one. The part that goes under the jaw is elasticized so it fits snug enough to keep flies out but not tight. This will stretch out after several times used but it just makes the velcro straps a bit longer. Everyone that sees them exclaims how nice they are compared to some others out there. My guys keep them on. That says it all.

Best Fly Mask Ever
I bought this mask recently for my Arabian mare. It is the best fitting, best protection, and nicest fly mask I have ever found for her! It is soft and comfortable, and looks great! She seems to enjoy wearing it. I would definitely buy this fly mask again!

Moved around too much- a little too hot for AZ
My mare has a horse sized head but smaller ears- the ears were way too big in this mask for her- and the mask was too hot for our AZ heat. She kept turning and moving the mask on her face because the ears kept coming out.

My horse leaves it on!
I have 4 horses and only one reliably wears his mask every day. I’ve tried numerous brands and styles and this is the only mask the other three have kept on longer than 20 minutes! The pony is keeping his on all the time and one mare wore hers two days before I took it off. My most difficult one kept hers on all day but by evening she felt it was time to part ways. Overall I’m super impressed!!

Nice mask but...
Ordered horse size for my mare who wears a horse size in Farnam and Cashel. This horse size Shires masks is enormous! It is even too big to fit a bigger headed gelding I ride. So I sent it back. Other ladies have this mask for their horses, it is very durable and stays on. I was hoping for a good mask for my sweet itch mare who has to stay covered all the time. I did order in cob and it is weirdly too small in some spots. Oh well.

Wow they improved it!
Not only is the color fabulous (turquoise ears and light gray accents) the fit and Velcro has changed for the better! Both horses love these fly masks and keep them on (major plus!) But the latest one purchase is even better!!

Stays put!
I love this fly mask. One of my horses seems to hate wearing his fly mask. I have tried several styles and brands and this is the first one I have not had to search in the pasture for every two days. In fact he had it on all summer and I only had to go looking once!

Nice Flymask!
I purchased this product because I have had good luck with the Shires product line. This flymask does not disappoint. It is wonderfully soft and fits well - not tight around the eyes. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it is a bit hot for my climate. The padding gets a bit sweaty. However - overall a great product.

Light and breathable
I got this for my ottb gelding who had gnats tearing up his ears. Once as he stopped itching so much that the mask kept coming off it has helped wonders! Velcro is good quality and his face isn’t melting in the Florida heat and humidity.

Wont buy another brand
I've had my 2 Shires masks with no ears for almost 2 years now. Bought the x-full for my Percheron and the Full for my TWH but it also fits my Gypsy Vanner cross quite well. They put their heads down for me to put it on they like it so much. These have been through a lot over the past 2 years and have held up beautifully! I love the generous padding around the ears. No rips, tears or separation of the fleece or the velcro. We put them over halters during transport and riding with no rubbing. (obviously dont put them on too tight and you wont get rubbing) mine are loosly fitted and no flies get in. LOVE THEM! Going to buy a second set so I can keep one set in the trailer all the time.

Last year Shires were 90% uv rated. Bought more this year expecting the same, and they arrived with a 60% uv rating. So I bought another brand.

Great fit, good looking
I purchased three different brands of fly masks with ears to find my new favorite. THIS IS IT! The cob size is a perfect fit on my Connemara ponies. It fits securely and looks good. I will be buying more of this brand.

Nice fly mask but...
I really wanted to love this mask. I actually ordered three. I ordered one with the nose cover and two without. The mask is generous in fit and seems to be well made. My biggest beef with it though, is that it has NO forelock opening. I did not even notice this until I went to put it on. Now for my two boys, it's not that big of a deal because they don't have much of a forelock. My mare, however, has a very long and thick one, and it just poofs up the mask and won't let it sit right. I'm not sure why they omitted the hole, but it is a little bit aggravating. I will have to see over time how this holds up. I may have to delegate it to just my older gelding. He is not an excessive head rubber or roller. The mesh on the face is fine, but when my other gelding rolled, all kinds of dirt got into the mask and in his eyes. I don't think my normal go to masks do that.

I really wanted to like this...
I bought this in anticipation for the upcoming fly season and put it on my horse for the first time last night. He is a bit of a mischief maker and can take his fly masks off and bury them occasionally. When I got to the barn the next afternoon, the fly mask was still on! I was super happy until I took him out of his stall and saw that the lower cheek area already had several holes in it. Super disappointed! After reading other reviews, I really had high hopes for this mask. I’m guessing the fine material just doesn’t hold up well, at least in my experience. Bummed!

My FAVORITE fly mask
By far my favorite fly mask. Love the fleece lining and how they fit. Run very true to size. I have for both my 8yr old gelding and 2yr old filly. They are very durable and very easy to clean. My gelding destroys everything and this is going on season #2 that is unheard of for him.

If had it in size larger, I would have kept it.
I would say it runs true to size, our paint horse just has a big head.
