I have purchased 3 Shires masks and I love them. Only one downfall, and I'll get to that. But I think they look nice. I like that the eyes poke out, which keep the screening away from my horse's eyes. The velcro is hearty. They're hard to kill, and my horses have tried. My only negative is that the velcro straps have flappy ends, and for my colt, they're inviting to chew and pull on. It allows my geldings to have mask games where they pull each others masks off. This is annoying, but was never an issue when I just had my older, less playful geldings.

I’ve been using Cashel fly masks for 15ish years. I still really like them, but recently my horse has been tearing up his Cashel masks. I decided to try this Shire’s fly mask, because a few of my fellow boarders have them. I really like it! It’s held up really well. My one “complaint” is that there’s no slot for their forelock. But I love the color, and it stays off my horse’s eye really well.

Fine mesh protects eyes from sand and dirt
I usually won’t use fly masks because I am afraid that the sand and dirt that go through them will scratch my horse’s eyes. This mask is different. When I pull it off, his face is clean. Also, it stays on!

works great for gnats!
This flay mask works great for my picky mare with sever allergy to gnats. The horse size fits well (similar to Cashel) but better visibility and a little more fuzzy/cushion on the inside seams. She's doing well so far in the heat and humidity of NC in July.

Fits well with great visibility
Great mask. Roomy area around the eyes, strong Velcro closures and my horse likes it. Not sure it will rub on his forelock since there isn’t an opening for it. All in all , very pleased.

My #1 fly protection tool
This is the second set of fly masks I've bought, so now my herd of four all has the same ones. These are the best I have found as they provide excellent protection from flies. They are easy to clean, easy to put on, and are durable.

Seems to hold up reasonably well
This fly mask seems to hold up better than similar other brand masks I have purchased with ears. However, the ear part was irritating my horse on one ear causing her to rub it and causing it to bleed, which is why I gave 4 stars rather than 5.

Best Fly Mask Ever!
This is the best fly mask I've ever purchased...and I've had them all. It says away from their eyes, fits beautifully and keeps even the smallest flying insects off my horses face, eyes and ears. They wash up great and are very durable whether they are used for turn out or in the barn. I liked them so much that I purchased (2) masks for each of my Warmbloods and donated all my old ones. I will definitely purchase these again and have recommended to my friends and vet.

The BEST Fly mask! Switch from Cashel's to these!
I used to buy my horses cashel's fly masks. But they would start to frey apart after 1 summer. I got a shires one on clearance and was hooked! They last so long and have better fine protection. I like how they dont sit directly on the horses eyes and it has nice shade. only buying these from now on. They have lasted 2 years so far with holding up very well!.

Good quality mask and true-to-size fit, however, I had to give it to a friend. It was so dark that my horse started spooking at anything outside his paddock.

Good Protection. Horses seem to like it.
Soft material, horses seem to like it. Also bought the smart pak leg protection against flies in similar color. Looks good on them, horses seem happy to wear them. Bought these to replace the stiffer, older style masks we had and the horses seem to prefer getting these ones put on (softer). Have not had it long enough to tell you how it holds up to washing or weather yet. There are some gaps, though overall it does protect.

Tough fly mask
My big THB goes through fly masks like paper - 2 or more a season. This one is very good quality, made of and sewn with good materials. Really good quality for the price.
Nicely padded and the mesh is stiff and contoured enough to stay off the eyes. So far so good. Hard to comment on the fit on my 17H big thoroughbred. The extra large fits pretty well.

Fits great!
This is a really nice fly mask. I expect it’ll last more than one season for sure. It seems very comfy and soft too. The Velcro straps are a little long for my quarter horse. I may cut them shorter but I don’t want to compromise the stitching. We will see!

Great Mask - wrong color
I bought this about a month ago and am very pleased with the features of this mask! Fits my OTTB mare who is a pretty standard size perfectly. Only reason for 4 stars is the mask box was marked as a black color mask but contained the orange color instead. I dislike the color, but haven’t heard back from SmartPak about correcting, so used the mask anyway. I like the small mesh which is easier to see through and the fleece on the forehead. It dries quickly when washed and has been durable so far.

Great fit!!!
I’m super happy that I bought this mask for my usually too-small-for-draft-sized-things but too-big-for-horse-sized-things draft cross, because this mask fits perfectly! Her luscious lashes usually are hindered by the close fit of many masks, but this one gives ample amount of room! 100/100 stars!

Really Great Fly Mask
I have bought 3 of these Shires masks now & after years of using many other brand - will not buy any other kind. They fit my QH mare's head perfectly, wash very well, have an attractive look & color plus hold up to 10 hrs use daily through the summer.

Great fly mask
These masks are light but sturdy. The fleece binding is a nice touch as it is soft on the skin and keeps elastic from grabbing. The eye mesh is arranged by darts that keep it well off the eyes even when horses rub their face on their legs. Easy to clean and dry quickly.
