The ever popular One K Defender now with MIPS technology. Founded in 1996 by a neurosurgeon and a researcher from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System and is designed to add protection against rotational motion transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head. MIPS added protection has been independently proven to reduce rotational motion by redirecting forces that would otherwise be transmitted to the brain. One K MIPS helmet features black matte Polycarbonate and Advanced ABS Composite outer shell; injection molded shell design; washable quick-dry, moisture wicking, anti-microbial liner; and comfort padded harness with synthetic suede lining, hook & loop adjustment, and Fastex buckle; two front, one back, and two center stripe vents. For best care, wipe down with a clean, damp cloth for dust or dirt;machine wash removable inner liner. Compatible with the CCS Custom Color System.

Love the fit!

No more giant pumpkin head!
Helmets are, of course, not one size fits all. For my very oval shaped head, One K comes through with the long oval shape! I no longer look like a hot air balloon trotting around my barn. It also is lightweight and looks classy.

I bought this helmet because of the MIPS rating and the matte exterior. I am very happy with it. I gave it 4 starts rather than 5 because the material of the strap rubs a little under my ears and on the jawline...It may need to have a softer material wrapped around it. otherwise, excellent choice!

Not for me but give it a try
One of three (Charles Owen & Trauma Void were the other two) I tried. I’ve had two Charles Owen Wellington (velvet 6 7/8) helmets over the last 5 years and wanted the new MiPS technology and good ventilation. This One K in oval shape was too loose, but if I still had my long thick hair it probably would have been perfect!

Upgraded to MIPS
I recently had a run-in with a tree wearing my old One K Helmet. Following the adage that when the head goes boom, the helmet goes buh bye, I decided to upgrade to MIPS technology The helmet seems pretty much the same except for a slim plastic layer between the liner and the helmet. It's a pricey piece of plastic, but I guess my brain is worth it if it really works. I wore a M in my old Defender and the M in the MIPS felt slightly snugger so I also ordered a L to compare. L was definitely too big, but the M still feels a tad snugger than my pre-MIPS medium. Maybe it's simply because my liner had squished down over time. I gave this a 4 simply because of price and maybe a slight size difference (I wish there was a M and a half). I look forward to being able to use the Custom Color System and the Snap-On Sunglasses when I can find them available for purchase!
