The Correction System can improve saddle fit on horses who may change form throughout competition season, have physical asymmetries or other similar situations. This system uses Poly-Flex shims that are slipped into the pockets on the saddle pad to allow for adjustments to be easily made. The poly-flex material absorbs energy to eliminate bounce and is very resilient and won't bottom out like foam or other materials.

Special design and shaping make the Mattes Hunter Pad a perfect fit for a close contact saddle. Edge is trimmed around the saddle with a shorter pile sheepskin to maintain a sleek, hunter style. Sheepskin panels with bare flaps. VELCRO® brand billets.

Melp is specially formulated and contains regreasing properties ideal for sheepskin products, washable leather and wool. Highly recommended for extending the life and quality of Mattes sheepskin products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sueshew from Luxurious! I'm starting to show my young mare and have been schooling in a half pad with shims. "Surely there must be a shimmable show pad," I said to myself as I sat down to shop around online. I was hoping to find something less expensive, but was sort of "sad not sad" to find that the only product fitting my needs is a Mattes pad. It fits my forward flap 16.5 saddle well. The shims are not compressible - I'm now using them in my schooling half pad as well. The sheepskin is thick and lush and the pad is well constructed and sturdy feeling. The quality of this pad makes it worth the extra expense.

Rated 5 out of 5 by longspot from Saved the day! My horse got significantly fitter after getting a custom fit saddle a year ago. His shape changed a lot, and about a month ago I ordered a Mattes Half-Pad with shims to improve the fit. It improved the fit so much (seriously, it was a game changer), I had to order this for showing. There isn't any added bulk to your leg, and after our last show I threw it in the wash with some Melp and it came out looking brand new. That was probably my favorite part. The only downside is that the pockets for the shims dry really slowly. Other than that, super happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Eliz from Excellent Pad - Runs Small Mattes makes great pads - I have a square dressage pad with the correction system and wanted a contoured one for fox hunting. No other hunter pad with a correction system compares. Instead of the felt, I use shock absorbing foam. The only problem is that they run small. The 17.5 barely fit my 17 saddle so I had to return it.

I would have liked to have a size a bit larger. It does fit my 16.5 close contact saddle but I prefer a bit larger. The price has increased by quite a bit since last year!

Rated 5 out of 5 by LisaB from Beautiful Show Pad This is an absolutely lovely pad that has sheepskin under the saddle, just the quilt under your legs, and sheepskin lining all around the edge. It is an awesome combination of look without compromising close contact feel. My saddle is a 16 1/2, and I ordered the same size. It is a perfect fit. my horse goes so much better in sheepskin than in synthetic fleece, it looks like these will be my new show pads of choice. Expensive? yes. But in my opinion it is worth it.
