Love these hock boots
My poor old guy is rocking on his hock to get up after bedtime. These boots are
wonderful his sores are gone. I put them on at night and take them off before I let him out in the pasture. Easy to clean . I tired think bedding and he still got sores..these worked !!

I had High Hopes
Sizing is confusing if your horse’s hock are 15”. That is their cutoff for deciding regular or large. I erred on the large side. They stayed on for at least 4 hrs that I know of but both were on the ground by the next morning. One velcro strap had its stitching unraveled after that first night, too. I applied them a second night, tighter. They still fell off. They do appear to have a cleaver design. I wish they had worked better for me.

sores nearly all gone after a few weeks
My horse has had more and more hock sores over the past few months. She lives in an in/out stall and paddock. She mostly rolls and lies down in the paddock which is sandy and has a rocky base. As fly season has approached I have been very frustrated with this problem. I have been using the pastern shields from the same company with really good results so I tried the hock shields. The sores are almost fully healed now. Just one setback when she rolled without them on. She was wet from bathing and I turned my back for that one minute! One boot fell down once but for the most part they stay in place perfectly and I leave them on all the time. I recommend these boots as well as the pastern ones. I predict a 6 month lifespan for these products with full time use. (I use the front ones on 2 horses). Not cheap but if you do the math it is probably cheaper than most of your horse related expenses. Much better than the price of treating infections for sure.

Works great!
I was tentative to order these as I was sure they would not stay put. I have been very pleased that they do stay on better than I could have imagined! They are really helping my horse's hock sores heal up. We live where the ground is quite abrasive and he is "tender skinned"!

Love them, but they're falling apart
I started using them the beginning of March only during stall time on my 23 yo mare who had sores from trying to get up. The sores are healing, but I noticed today (4/24) that the outside black material already has holes...don't know what to do since they've helped a lot, but I can't afford $58 every 2 months...

Works like a dream!
My older mare quickly developed hock sores this winter. I tried many alternatives before purchasing these hock shields. They stay on where they should overnight and she is healing quickly. She only wears them while in the stall. Works like a dream!

Great product!

Great protection!
My horse's feed time kicking can be a real problem at shows...especially if he can see the other horses. He throws himself sideways into the wall and at times has ended up with really swollen hocks. I decided to try these at a recent show. They worked great! They protected his hocks, stayed securely in place (despite his antics) and were so much cooler than the neoprene ones I've tried. Very reasonably priced, too. I'm sold on them!

Did the job
About 2 months ago my horse sustained a deep flexor tendon injury. Because of this he has been laying down more frequently at night in his stall. I think with everything combined he was just having a more difficult time getting up and moving in the mornings. He developed hock sores which is very unlikely for him. He is bedded very deep and gets excellent full service care. I ordered these boots to help his sores heal and give him a little extra cushion. These did the job. However I had the barn workers just leave them
On him all day while he was in turnout. My horse figured out how to slip them off. But luckily his hocks are looking much better! I would recommend only using in the stall.

These work great!
I have been using these for about three weeks and they have only fallen down my geldings hind legs once. That was due to user error I'm sure. They have worn very well considering that they are used on a horse, who even though he has a nice soft bed of shavings inside his stall, he prefers to sleep in the out part in the sand and rocks. These also launder and air dry very well. I need a second pair so he doesn't have to go without them when I bring them home to wash them as his hock sores a nearly gone with new fur grown over them.

Not worth it.
I bought these for my mare who had some pretty bad hock sores from laying on the dirt, despite having a stall full of shavings. I thought they were going to be perfect when I first put them on her, but within 24 hours they were around her ankles. I had to make them tighter and tighter each time, which worried me. Yet, they still didn't stay on and the elastic stretched out within a two week time span. By the third week of trying, I gave up and threw them out.

Sizing is off; run big
I have a big mare who is a Percheron Thoroughbred cross. Ther is nothing little about her. Everything else I order for her is Xl or XXL. I measured hr hocks and first ordered the M/L which did not stay on good and were quickly getting destroyed so then ordered the S/M wraps after reading other cmments about them running big. These stay on better but I am now only using them at night when my mare tends to roll the most because the wraps were starting to leave wear marks just above her hocks. My mare is an aggressive roller so maybe other people have better luck. When the second smaller wraps arrived, they were mismarked, were actually 2 left wraps instead of a right and left but I called and another set was quickly forwarded to me which I appreciated.when

Outstanding!
Bought these for my guy who had started grinding his hocks into hamburger when getting down and up - gooey raw sores outsides and on the backs below the point of the hock - both legs. He hates wraps so I was worried he would remove these but he hasn't touched them. Improvement was dramatic in just the first 5 days - scabs formed and holding so no open sores. It's now not quite 3 weeks - the sores are completely closed over with soft skin and hair is starting to grow in. I've ordered a second set so I can always have a clean pair at the ready. Outstanding!

These really work
My mare was really beating her hocks up, once I figured out how tight to apply these boots they have done a great job keeping them protected. The Ultra boots are worth the extra $ because they will spin around as your horse gets up. I found you need to apply these a bit tighter than you are comfortable otherwise they slide down and end up around the fetlock getting stepped on. My mare wears them everyday and don't seem to bother her at all and her hocks have healed up nicely.

These are awesome and stay up!
Really like these as I have used hock guards before that twist and wouldn't stay up. These stay up and don't rotate. I went by others advice and went for the smaller size as the elastic does stretch a little but these work great. My 15.3 1150 pound TB got the mediums.

Sure beats my painters and duct tape version!!
Have been looking for years for hock protection that will really work for my thin skinned appendix mare! This is the best I've found. The left boot that she wears away quickest did have a hole in it after only 2 weeks of use, but I reinforced it with a tough patch that is holding. The left boot doesn't stay on as well as the right, but the left side definitely gets more pressure against it. Not perfect but the best hock boot I've found. Depending on how they hold up durability wise will determine if I'd purchase them again or go back to using 2 inch blue painters tape covered with good old duct tape as I have for the past 10years!

A hock saver!
My horse tends to get pretty gruesome hock sores in the summer time no matter the amount of shavings in his stall. These have really helped protect his hocks and stay on all day without shifting. Easy to put on and clean. Wish they were a bit more durable though since they wear out pretty quickly and are quite pricey to replace. I recommend going with the smaller size since the elastic stretches. The elastic stretched up to 3 inches with my last pair and they would no longer stay on. Bottom line, they did the job protecting my horse's hocks and allowed them heal.
