Ingredients

Proprietary blend of Sodium Bicarbonate, Maranta Arudinacea (Arrowroot) Powder, Bentonite Clay, Zea Mays (Corn Starch), Witch Hazel, Hempseed Oil, and Menthe Piperita (Peppermint) Oil.

Instructions

Instructions for Use:

Clean and dry surface area
DO NOT PICK OFF SCABS. Please allow scabs to fall off on their own.
Scoop paste from container, spreading (like cream cheese on a bagel) making sure it is on skin.
Let dry until paste has turned white. Leave on for 2 days.
If area is not completely healed repeat above.
Reapply if necessary to areas that may have become exposed or worn off.
If you need to remove dried paste at any time, do not rub off... slightly moisten until paste is soft.

But I have used it to where I barely have any left and it almost seems like it got worse. The container doesn’t last but for maybe 3-4 uses. Not enough for what you spend on it! I won’t be getting this again.

I still use equiderma, but this coat defense paste works better and faster and smells like peppermint which soothes my horse. I have put it on bugbites for myself and it works great. We love coat defense

We live in south Florida and my horse is prone to scratches and other “skin funk” from our hot, humid climate. This stuff works like magic to dry up his legs and keep the flies (and summer sores) away.

After trying and failing at multiple therapies, I finally started using this drying paste and I have so much better luck getting these things to heal! The paste actually stays in place for about 2 days if it doesn't get wet, which I can't say for anything else I've tried. Plus, it creates a nice thick barrier that insects can't penetrate. If you're frustrated with summer sores like I was, give this a try! You might be pleasantly surprised how well it works!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stacy from This works! After trying everything to give my horse relief from insect bites and scratches, this product came through. I highly recommend it! It coats and soothes (I know because I used it on myself). It promotes healing based on the fact that the sores and scratches healed quickly. I used leg wraps for about a week in conjunction with the paste. The scratches healed and I no longer have to use the leg wraps. For the first time this summer, my horse is free of open sores and scratches. Terrific product!

After struggling with sweet itch on my mare for several years, I feel like I have tried almost every topical on the market in hopes of getting her relief. While I've had several products that have helped, this one is by far my favorite! This product is a thick paste that dries into a hard-to-the-touch coating. For this reason, I love applying it to her belly, where she typically loses the most hair, because it stays put and will actually provide long-lasting protection. This has been a total game changer in terms of keeping the gnats away and preventing the allergic reaction that causes the itch. In addition to its effectiveness, I love that this product has natural, gentle ingredients that I can apply with bare hands and feel comfortable putting on my horse on a regular basis. One thing that is worth noting is that if your horse is dark like mine, this product does cause a bit of coat bleaching. It's not an issue when using on her belly or with a lighter horse, but just something to note and be thoughtful about when applying. I apply a thick layer of this paste to my mare's belly every couple of days, and it makes such a huge difference in her comfort level. I highly recommend to anyone who is struggling with sweet itch!
