Safe, simple & affordable fly prevention

  • Cyromazine, the active ingredient, prevents house & stable fly egg development
  • The overall fly population is significantly reduced within 4-6 weeks
Solitude IGR is an effective, safe, simple, and economical feed-through fly prevention that prevents house and stable fly development. Cyromazine, the active ingredient of Solitude IGR, safely passes through the horse's system and is excreted in the manure, regulating house and stable fly egg development. Solitude IGR is effective only against immature house and stable flies. As existing adult flies die off, overall fly population is significantly reduced within 4 to 6 weeks. Create a healthier environment for your horse. Cost-effective and easy to use; just add 1/2 oz into your horse’s daily feed regardless of your horse’s breed or size.

Directions for Use:

Feed the reccomended dosage to each horse seperately to make certain full ration is recieved. This product is to be fed top-dressed on grain or mixed with the horse's total ration to provide 300 mg (1 scoop) of cyromazine per horse per day ir 600 mg (2 scoops) of cyromazine per horse every other day.

Start administering Solitude IGR early in the spring before flies begin to appear and continue administering throughout the summer and into the fall until cold weather inhibits fly development. In some cases, supplemental fly control measures may be needed in and around paddocks and stables to control adult house flies and stable flies, which can breed not only in manure, but in other decaying vegetable matter or silage on premises. Solitude IGR will provide a high degree of fly control and will give the best results when integrated with a well-managed fly control program which includes appropriate sanitary and management practices to reduce the number and size of fly breeding sites. Certain conditions around horse operations encourage flies and should be brought under control as an aid to fly control. These include: Remove old and / or wet manure from in and around your facility so that it cannot become a breeding ground for flies. Clean up feed and hay spills, as well as water drainage ditches. Reduce areas of moisture around your facility, especially around manure holding areas. A successful sanitary and management program may allow less than constant use of insecticides. This, in turn, should prolong the effective life of such agents. Daily dosage: Using 1/2 oz. scoop supplied with the product, mix one (1) scoop of Solitude IGR in the horse’s ration every day.

Solitude IGR is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 73.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more Summer Sores! I live in Florida where the flies play havoc on my horse. My poor Mac was suffering terribly from summer sores caused by poor fly control at a boarding facility he was at for six months. The flies larvae were basically eating him from the inside out. They had even eaten about a 1/4 inch of his urethra off. In the short time he was boarded there, I paid approx. $4,000 in six months - giving my vet the down payment for her new truck (LOL). Having had enough of seeing my poor boy suffer, I moved to a private location and began feeding Solitude IGR. I cannot believe the difference in both my horse's health and in the lack of flies around the barn and, especially, on the poop piles!!! We have NO flies now!!! This product is absolutely AMAZING!!! I cannot say enough good things! I will always use this product for all my horses!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I switched For years we had always used Simplifly with decent success, but for whatever reason, the flies this summer were horrendous even though everyone was still getting their Simplifly. So I decided to switch to Solitude to try it out. It's been about 2 weeks now and already I've noticed a significant drop in flies. No more loud buzzing when you walk into a horse's stall! It's more expensive but you only have to feed 1/2 oz instead of 1 oz like with most products. All horses have no problems eating it either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flies be gone! The owner of the farm at which I board my ponies told all the boarders they must have their horses fed IGR daily. Within a month, I saw a marked improvement in the amount of flies on the farm! They have gotten to the point that I rarely use fly spray! What a great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems to work Been using about a month and I would say the flies are less than last year. If only it worked on GreenHeart, they are horrible right now

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product seems to be helping with the flies! The number I see buzzing around his legs so far this summer have reduced significantly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not working this year! I used this product last year. I started out using Simplifly until about July of last year then switched over to Solitude. I had great results. This year, I started out with Simplifly again due to Solitude being sold out. I had no flies while I fed Simplifly. When I started Solitude, I noticed an increase in flies. So, I increased the dosage. No effect. I am now over-run with flies and my horses are getting a double dose of Solitude. I just re-ordered Simplifly. I will not be using this product again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It really does work! I have been using solitude for about 6 weeks. I started a little late, in early April. We have been having a very warm and rainy spring which normally would bring a huge fly population to torment my horses. there are very few flies! I have a neighbor who is very close and I do not believe she uses this, but it still had a great impact.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good. Bought this a little over a month ago, although it hasn't been so hot yet. But they seem to be reducing our fly population. But a bit more pricey than its competitors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far Seems Good I will have to visit this review once we are in the height of summer. However as of right now, my six horses have been on this a month. It seems to be working. We are seeing flies but not many adult flies. The IGR works to prevent flies from forming an exoskeleton thus preventing them from surviving into adulthood. We see lots of baby flies but that is it. I was worried at first but when I went to the website this is the way it works. I do not know the true affect it is having for us since we do not have a lot of flies anywhere in the valley yet. Once we are in full swing fly season I will update my review. Horses ate it up just fine too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solitude IGR I have used many different feed through fly products over the years and this is the BEST. Bar none.I use this product in conjunction with fly predators and voila No Flys. It is a great product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works as part of a program I have a single horse kept at home. I have been working on perfecting my fly management program. There are several other horse homes in the neighborhood and I could not tell you if they implement any sort of fly control program. This product helped immensely. Last year used a combination of the the physical hanging traps and fly predators and still had a decent size fly population. The addition of Solitude IGR got rid of every single fly. I do notice a few flys toward the end of my predator cycle, but after a re-spread of those not a single fly can be found. The horse had no problem eating this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Palatable I had been using the Smart Pak version, and my horse grudgingly ate it last year, but would not touch it this year. I had luck with it, so I decided to try something else. The molasses makes a huge difference. The flies have all but disappeared around him and on him. Very good product that my horse will eat!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sadly not seeing results. I was desperate in trying to find something that reduces the fly population. Not seeing a decrease in the fly population. At least my horse is eating it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective I board my horse at my trainer's and she has requested we buy this for our horses for several years, because it works so well. We pair Solitude IGR with Smart-Bug Off and our horses are so much happier than the horses next door and around us. It gets mixed in with the horses' beet pulp and they munch it down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most effective feed-through fly product available I've used every brand out there and found this to work the best. Manure piles don't have bugs flying around them when we feed this stuff, so I feel better mucking once a day instead of constantly!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the Job Very palatable and easy to use! Seems to keep the fly numbers down, I have used it for several years now and my fly numbers seem to be less than other small farms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm on month two and haven't seen many flies around the barn hoping this continues! I do love the smartpak drawers that come with the product to keep me organized on my horses supplements!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It really works! I went to my vets one day and noticed he had virtually no flies. He told me he uses this in his anti-fly regimen. So I added it to mine to see if there was a difference for me. It cut down the flies so that there was maybe less than 20% of what I would normally get with out using this. It works even better when it is added to different fly systems. The horses had no problem eating this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solitude IGR solitude IGR really works, my summers are almost fly free!!!
    Date published: 2014-01-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nearly NO flies I used this product for the first time last year on my two horses. I was truly impressed for nearly the entire summer. In late September/early October there seemed to be a new "bloom" of flies which necessitated light spray on the legs and top line and use of fly strips in the barn, but overall for the majority of the summer I was essentially fly-free. A bit costly, but when adding in the cost of gallons of fly spray that I didn't use this year, and the gas and time involved in going to the not-so-local feed store, it equals out. Great product I will use again this summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressed We moved to a new farm last year and our house is very close to our barn/manure pile. I was really concerned about having flies in the house and all over the pool area. I started feeding it in April and also bought 1 bag of fly predators to start the year off. All horses have eaten it no problem. I really hadn't noticed if it was working or not, but had several friends and my farrier all comment unsolicited about the lack of flies at my place. Then I went to a friends farm to ride and was shocked by how bad the flies were. I had heard rumors that the flies were "bad this year" from people but WOW what a difference! We don't use a fly spray system or anything else at home. I will be using this next year and every year after!
