Doesn't NOT Work...
I have been feeding my large pony mare the SmartItch Ease for approximately two months now. Every summer, she develops terrible sweet itch to the point her belly is rubbed open completely. While she is still getting some open sores and also has itched her mane and tail out a little (new developments), I will say it is usually worse by this time in the season. Will continue her on the supplement to see if she has further progress, but overall I think it is offering her some relief and great skin support. She doesn't love the taste and does try to pick around it (it's A LOT of powder that smells), when I wet her feed a little with it she eats it up just fine. Would love to see this offered in a pellet form. A little expensive.

Really helps with flies
I bought the Smart Itch pellets for my gelding who gets massive welts and loses hair from fly bites. Within 2 weeks I noticed less flies on him and the reaction to bites was not nearly as severe. I would definitely recommend it.

Easy to use and my horse likes the taste
My horse has been itchy for many years. We've tried everything. SmartItch Ease is so much easier to use than some things we've tried. I don't have to fight my horse to administer it-he loves it! I just mix it with his "grain". And so far no biting or rubbing and he's starting yo grow a mane and tail again!

Starting to see results
My good show mare has off and on had a horrible flaked coat. She still has some dry flakes to her coat but it is becoming less and would help if i could bathe her but with the negative degree weather that is impossible but she is very shiney right now with alot less dry looking skin and coat. Hope it helps a bit with the bugs this summer too!

I started smart itch about 2 months ago with a gelding that has ruined heavy panels and board fences from rubbing on them.
Tho he still has done itch his tail is growing back and his coat is filled in. Much better option than steroids!

Helped some
Tried this for a month during the late summer/early fall transition when our gnats are at their worst and give my horse nose to tail hives. I have tried some other remedies and antihistamines. While the antihistamine meds were the most effective on the hives, they made my horse way too dopey. He was not especially itchy or bothered by the bumps so using drugs was not the route I wanted to continue. SmartItch helped reduce the bumps in about 5 days. The never completely went away, but the weather changed and the bugs went away. So, I can’t say for sure if SmartItch would have helped more if he was on it longer. It does smell pretty strongly of curry food, but my horse loved and almost seemed disappointed when I stopped feeding it :)

Our 8yr old mare has suffered with severe sweet-itch for most of her life. We bought her as a 6yr old and were determined to do all we could to ease her discomfort and restore her coat. We have tried everything, every spray, mask and sheet with limited results. This year we started sweet-itch ease and platinum for her coat and the results are amazing!

This really works
I bought a 60 day supply. I was very skeptical of this product. It does have a funny smell to it like Indian food but my horse eats it. It’s supported rapid hair growth and stability for some real issues I had with insects and some pollen.

Life Changing Supplement for Hives
My mare is highly allergic to fly bites. She spends the summer in a fly sheet and mask 24/7 and goes through fly spray constantly. Despite these measures we will have major issues with hives. As a last attempt before going back on Dex I decided to swap her SmartBug-Off with the SmartItch-Ease. This supplement has not only provided her relief from her itching but also cleared up her hives and given her a dark shiny coat that is extremely soft. We have only been using this for one month but since that was the only change to her environment/feed regime I know that this is the cause for improvement. I would 100% recommend this product to anyone looking for assistance with fly allergies.
As a word of caution, my mare did not want to eat this initially but after mixing it with a bit of applesauce for a few days she quickly warmed up to the taste and now happily cleans her bucket.

Small Difference from Last Year
My Arabian mare almost rubbed out her mane and tail last summer so I started her on this supplement in March this year. This will be her last month on it. She still itches but not as much as last year. She also wears a fly sheet and hood 24/7 so I am not sure which helps more. The lining on the fly sheet mane and tail areas has prevented her from rubbing the hairs out. This is an expensive supplement so I can't give it a strong recommendation for the little difference it made.

Not sure if it is working, yet.
I received a sample of the SmartItch-Ease before purchasing since my horse is a picky eater. Thank you SmartPak for providing the sample! My horse didn't mind the taste even though it is very strong smelling. So, I ordered a month's supply hoping that my horse would find relief from fly bites--she is allergic and breaks out in hives and open sores that crust over like crystallized honey. I was also hoping that I could use less (if any at all) fly wipe. My horse is now well into her second month of eating the SmartItch-Ease supplement with no noticeable change. In fact, about 3 weeks ago, she had open sores on her neck/main area. So, I decided to apply fly wipe every 2 days and cover her up daily with a fly sheet and fly mask. She doesn't have any new sores, so I hate to give up on the SmartItch-Ease now in case it might be working (or maybe it is the flysheet/mask/fly wipe, but her neck is still exposed). I will continue giving it to her for the rest of fly season this year, but will rethink for next summer. This supplement way too expensive--especially since I still have to apply fly wipe and cover her up!

Didn't notice a difference, not very palatable
I unfortunately did not see enough difference with this product to justify the cost. It was not palatable unless mixed with water or applesauce. Because of this, I can't comment on if it truly works or not because I did not feel like he was consistently consuming enough to give it a fair chance. I would consider trying it again if it was given in pellet form.

A lot of bang for your buck
This product has a strong smell. Like Indian food or a bad spice. Amazingly my horse eats it! If you have a picky horse don’t buy this supplement. I’ve use this for about two weeks noticed some hair grows back on my horses tail. Coat is shinier... Not sure about insect relief.

Love the ingredients and they work
Started my horse on this and decided if I didn't see results after a month I would stop because of the cost. My horse used to get swollen eyes and big welts from bugs, and now those symptoms are almost completely gone. Very happy with the results for my 30 year old gelding.

Really does help with Sweet Itch symptoms
My poor mare almost scratched herself to death when she developed an allergy to culicoides midges early this Spring. After treatment by the vet, including a course of steroids and a twice a day dose of allergy powder, she was still somewhat distressed. I added Smartitch to her Smartpak and she is much relieved! Just the one extra thing that helped her turn the corner. Great product!

My horse would not eat this
My horse is prone to sweet itch and gets extremely itchy. He’s on generic brand Zyrtec which gives some relief but thought adding the smartitch would give him even more relief. Unfortunately it was not very palatable for him and he is not a very picky eater (he eats the 17 Zyrtec tablets in his grain without any issues. I would try again if it’s made more palatable! I recommend it because I was unable to determine if it would work.

Works, but only if your horse will eat it
I bought this supplement for my two horses, both were experiencing sweet itch.
My pony ate it and it seems to have helped (although I also added a bug supplement).
However my AQHA refused to eat any of his grain with this product on it. So...it's not worth it for the picky eaters

Give this a try!
I have a horse and a pony, both reactive to sweet itch. The horse typically rubs his mane and tail until he has sores. The pony gets sores inside her hind legs and along her midline, plus rubs her mane. The horse will pretty much eat anything but the pony is SUPER picky. Much to my surprise, they both eat this supplement and the pony is indicating that this improves the flavor of her unsweetened beet pulp. As far as results go, the rubbing manes & tails is significatly less and hair is growing back. The pony's sores on her midline are healing nicely. I will add that I also use a VERY high powered, long lasting fly spray and that in conjunction with this product seem to make all the difference. It's worth a try!

So far so good!
I started using this on my horse a month ago and it is remarkable. He still has many insect bites (they love him and no amount of spray keeps him protected), but he’s not itchy! Great.

Jury is still out
So, this is three containers (which is a lot) to be fed and Penelope will not eat all at once. Either I break the servings up to one container three times a day or it is wasted. I mix it in with sweet-feed, apple cider vinegar... but she won't eat it. What I did is only give her one serving one time a day and so far, she is still very itchy. But the ingredients are great so I'm hoping that eventually it absorb in her system and will help.
