Horse didn’t eat
My horse was not a fan of the flavor of these and refuses to eat them. He also has had bad diarrhea since he started getting this in his Smartpaks. I am going to empty all of these wells from his remaining Smartpaks. So a pass from my horse!

Not working yet
I bought this a little over a month ago and haven't seen much improvement with my horses bug sensitivity. She also gets fly sprayed down with natural fly spray and wears a fly mask. The bugs around her face aren't as bad and the hair is growing back but she still has hives on her chest and underside her neck. I'll try for another month and see.

Smells terrible!
I’m not sure the effectiveness of this product because my horses won’t touch it. They literally eat everything except these pellets. I’m sure the strong stench of them doesn’t help matters. They smell rancid!

Very disappointed in this supplement!
I bought this and put all my horses on this at same time so that would be more effective to help against the flies. My horses went from beautiful coats with normal flies to a month on this bug off ultra supplement now they all are covered in scabs from being eaten by flies and the flies now are HORRIBLE! Made them worse!!! (And my horses come inside every night with fans in stalls so they don’t live outside or anything) Very upset with this supplement!

Fantastic!
I started this at the beginning of June this year. My horse had been getting welts from flies the past few years. He is the only horse at the barn (about 30 horses) on it and I've only every seen 1-2 Friesland on his leg and fly right off.

5 Weeks in and definitely see an improvement...
My 26 year-old quarter horse gets terrible "allergies" to insects / insect bites during the summer, especially on his stomach. I began the SmartBug-Off Ultra pellets about 5 weeks ago and definitely see an improvement. He still has some itching and bumps but not nearly as bad as usual. I'm going to keep him on it for the remainder of summer because some improvement is a big deal for him. He needs the relief. I mix the product into his morning bucket and he eats it up no problem.

Incredible product
A friend of mine told me about this product and she raved about it. So I ordered some and have been using it for about three weeks now. I am amazed at how good it works. My horses, I have 8, have no flies and it's fly season. I've never seen anything like this. And it sure beats fly spraying every day.

Ok somewhat improved maybe ?
I started with the regular smart bug off after no improvement smartpak suggested to try the ultra instead. My horse has bad allergies in the summer. He still open open stores from scratching but the hives are not as bad ? Does not seem to keep flies off him as there are still a good number on him.

Still Evaluating...
My 11 year-old Arabian has developed hives by the end of summer the past 3 years, presumably from insect bites. I am trying this, but been feeding since April 14 and he still has not adjusted to the strong flavor/smell. I mix 1/2 scoop morning and night with soaked beet pulp and dry cob. I add some brown sugar to make it more palatable, but he still pushes it around, but eventually eats it. If it keeps him from getting hives, it will be worth the trouble, but will continue until Fall before I know the results. I have had great results with SmartPak supplements in the past, so keeping my fingers crossed!

Wow! This stuff works!
I have a very sensitive warmblood. He was shaking his head and rubbing his mane and tail. Fly gear made him more agitated.
I started him on this supplement with not much hope. Well let me tell you, this stuff was a miracle for him. And it started working quickly.
No more head shaking, no more rubbing.
If you’re having these issues related to bugs, it’s worth a try.

We have been using this product for years, and my vet and I are in a discussion on whether this product also kills worms as my horse never test positive for worms even though he sometimes shares a field with the cows. Flies still land, and they even sometimes bite, but when you compare my horse with the horses that do not receive this supplement, it is night and day. It works.

Used for pasted 2 years, great product. Yes, I will continue to re-order. Helps with the flies alot. We use lot "bug bags" scattered around the fields as well. My TW/StBr used to get lots of bot eggs on his legs. Well, no more. The QH didn't. Less Horse Flies. Great prodouct. I order the MVP 6way and it has done great on coat, growth of mane and tail, helps hooves (also use biotin). Horses grow with these products.

Too soon to tell
I think my results are too soon they’ve only been taking them for about a week, but we had a horrible rain spell that lasted 10 days and the flies are horrible I don’t want to knock the product as of today because of the changes. I will say that both of our horses have devoured the product. So must taste good

Effective! Would like to see a 10lb Bag
I love this product. It's really helped one very sensitive horse and two moderately sensitive horses react less to bug bites. One used to chew his belly until raw, and rub his mane and tail, every year, without fail. Now almost nothing! Just the occasional itch.
I would really like to see the product available in large bags, instead of the bucket. I'm trying to reduce my plastic consumption. Or to see the savings rate of the bucket apply to the slightly smaller bag.

Works for gnats!
My horse had been on this for a few years, and I wasn't sure how well it was working. Then we moved to a less-crowded place with fewer flies, and several months later I took him off of it. Within a month, he was itchy and swollen from gnats. The vet suggested that saliva from a different gnat population was the culprit, welcome to the world of sweet itch, and maybe some supplements would help. Ding! Back on the Bug Off we went, and in a couple of weeks he was fine. Horse can be picky with supplements and would never eat this alone, but he finishes it with the rest of his breakfast. Thank goodness.

Have been using for 1 year and very pleased
We live in a hot humid climate where the mosquitoes, gnats, and flies thrive. Prior to using the SmartBug Off we were loosing the battle in keeping the horses comfortable and the flies away. I started the supplement in December and by the time the spring heat hit I noticed a substantial reduction in biting flies that continued all summer. Sprays are still required but now they are effective! The mosquitoes and gnats are a problem but the horses do not have the severe skin reactions that they had previously. The garlic scent is strong and sticks to my hands but its worth the slight aggravation. It did take the horses several weeks to adjust to the taste but now they are fine.
