Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product I found this product to work well when I initially started it. It did nothing for the giant Kansas horseflies but nothing does other than a baseball bat. It seems it has lost its potency as my guys are being eaten up by the late summer flies and mosquitos. I believe the quality is good (it has a very strong ACV smell)and the price is fair and my horses ate it w/o issue but it just hasn't had any staying power for my herd. Sorry SmartPak...I do love some of your other products!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smelly but effective! Before trying this product I used garlic powder, brewer's yeast and apple cider vinegar separately to fight the bugs. Having all three in one with the addition of essential fatty acids makes for a great product and feeding is so much easier! I have bought this product throughout the summer and it has worked well for my mare in keeping the flies off her body. My gelding is a picky eater and hates funny smells, so he would dump the grain out of his dish in protest. I did finally manage to trick him by burying the scoop of SmartBug-Off at the bottom of his grain ration and piling the other supplements on top, and he finally would eat it. I noticed a big difference after running out. The number of flies increased within just a couple of days, so it's important to keep using it since it builds up in the body over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seemed to help with allergy issues as well I bought this for my horse who would not eat the garlic I was putting in her feed. She does seem to have fewer bug bites, but the best part is that it seems to have helped with her allergies as well. She tends to get intermittent hives and runny eyes in the summer, and since starting on this product there have been no issues. Only negative is that the stuff smells REALLY bad - my horse wouldn't eat it out of my hand but will when mixed with feed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No dramatic results My horses eat Smartbug Off, no problem. I'm not seeing a drastic change in the number of bugs pestering them so use it under the couldn't hurt/might help premise. I like the combination of ingredients in Smartbug Off and if it is slightly reducing pests on them or laying eggs in their poo, it's worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We began this pellet bug-off program and we were surprised at the success of this program

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does just what we needed! I started this at the beginning of spring on my sorrel with four white legs to the knee. Every past year, with daily spray and Equispot, the flies still just ate him up and he constantly had blood running down his legs. After a week of solid use the flies completely leave him be. There may be a straggler horse fly but no resting on him. This is just what he needed! He's not overly excited to eat it because it is so strong smelling but he does and his stomach does just fine with it. Thank you Smart Pak!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product works> I have used fly predators for years with limited success. When I added Smartbug-off pellets the result was amazing. Very few flies !!Limited use of fly sprays !

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I had hoped for I purchased Smart Bug Off pellets hoping to avoid using chemical fly repellents. I even went with the "ultra" pellets, and was disappointed with the results. Have used it for over one month as advised. Great idea, wish it had worked. Also neat little individual servings, but seems like a lot of packaging, ending up in the trash.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Flies My mare still had flies after 3 weeks. They were the young ones and some horse flies which are the worst.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I was a little skeptic about it at first but after a month it really started to work! I've definitely noticed less flies on him especially around his face.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works My new gelding is super sensitive to bugs. He has been on this for almost six weeks now and we are both pleased.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tried it all summer, no big change I started my guy on this back in May, hoping it would help with the awful bugs WI was already dealing with. I kept him on it all summer thinking it would build in his system, but I just did not see a change. He comes in from the field with bug bites and is so reactive to the constant mosquitoes and flies we rarely ride outside. I was really hoping this product would work for us, but it did not. He did eat it though!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hard to review - my horse wouldn't eat it My horse hides all summer due to the bugs, so I thought I would try this product. He refused to eat it no matter how I tried to hid it. SmartPak was GREAT about refunding my money though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy peasy to use. Haven't had a tick problem all season having started this in the spring. Definitely using it again next year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so good I had high hopes for this product, but it didn't work for my 2 mares with fly-bite allergies. After 2 weeks on the product, their itching got much worse and we had less than normal flies around the barn. I consulted with my vet, and took them off the product. Within 3 days, they were both back to normal, no more excessive itching. I know it wasn't the garlic because I fed straight granulated garlic last summer. It had to be one of the other ingredients. I won't be using any feed-thru fly products in the future. I'm now very suspicious of these types of products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems to work okay. I've previously used Buggzo with great success but SmartPak doesn't offer it any longer, so I thought I'd try this. It doesn't seem as effective as the Buggzo, but it does seem to be helping. It's a different horse at a different barn, so it's hard to know what the differentiating factor is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure yet Second month using this product. Not sure if it is working. Bugs are bad everywhere during Summer months, but Florida bugs are year round.
    Date published: 2017-07-11
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure I haven't noticed a huge difference in fly reduction on my horse yet. I will continue to finish the entire package before deciding to purchase again or not.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tried this to help with the bugs I bought this a month ago, but since no other horse in his paddock is on this it does not work very well.
    Date published: 2017-07-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working! Five horses started taking this about a month ago. We are in a HOT, HUMID, swampy area with plenty of biting flies! I have noticed less tail swishing and stomping!
    Date published: 2017-07-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from really did the trick! I bought this because we have a ton of biting stable flies and we just weren't getting a handle on it with other strategies and the horses were miserable. When we got it, I thought "no way will my horses eat this" because it is very strong smelling. They love it! I've been using it along with the traps and baits I was using and all of a sudden the flies have dramatically decreased. It's been a few weeks.
    Date published: 2017-07-03
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems to work I have been using this for a couple of months. The flies do seem to be a lot fewer in the area of body mass (i.e. barrel and neck areas) but does not seem to do much in the area of low body mass, (face and legs). I do notice my horses' tails are not flipping nearly as much as the neighbor's horses'.
    Date published: 2017-06-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fewer flies This product is easy to feed and I have noticed fewer flies.
    Date published: 2017-06-26
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bugs be gone please I have always given my horse apple cider in his feed so I thought I'd give this a try and see if it made any difference for my fly pansy of a horse who thinks bugs are pure evil. However, it really has not made a noticeable impact. The same amount of bugs are around him and landing on him still after two months of Use. & Yes they are biting him. Now it might just be the fact that we have 60 acres and 30 plus horses in boarding and he is the only one with any fly control, which is why I've given it three stars, as I assume it works better if there are less bugs in general and more insect control on a smaller scale. I used simplify in the past with great results on my personal property but I can't afford to give 30 plus horses that aren't mine smart bug off. I will continue to use this summer just to see if it improves
    Date published: 2017-06-23
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skeptic made a believer I live in Virginia and this is my first summer here. The bugs are out for a vengeance, they even come after me! All sorts of flies... horseflies, houseflies, no see-ums... everywhere! I couldn't stand seeing my horses getting eaten alive anymore... and the fly spray only lasts so long when its pouring everyday and they're sweating it off the next minute. I've had my two horses on this product about 2 weeks now and I certainly see a difference! Yes the flies still are around, but I imagine they always will be. I used this accompanied by some Pyranha fly spray and my horses are COMPLETELY bug free for a couple hours. It's comforting to know they get full relief. Even when the fly spray wears off there are hardly any bugs around. The ones that are around are mainly on their face and sheath area. Nothing a little Desitin, Swat, (or) Bagbalm and a flymask can't help! I'm glad I bought this! It is a great weapon of defense for these brutal bugs! Also, My horses are not on grain currently... they live on acres of very lush pasture. Therefor there is nothing for me to hide the taste of this in... They take it right out of my hand! (Even my BLM mustang who's very skeptical of strong tastes and smells)They consider it their daily treat. So for palatability purposes, I'd say this was pretty good!
    Date published: 2017-06-22
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too soon to be sure yet I've had one horse on this about six weeks, and started another 2 weeks ago. I will say they do like the taste, no problem eating it with their food. One of our horses has a distinct bug PHOBIA - he hates bugs that aren't even there! I thought this would be a real problem this summer (we just acquired him from a Rescue barn in February) but he's a lot better already. Not sure if it's due to the Pellets or not I'd like to wait and review again when more time goes by.
