SmartBug-Off® Pellets is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 1461.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I had hoped for I purchased Smart Bug Off pellets hoping to avoid using chemical fly repellents. I even went with the "ultra" pellets, and was disappointed with the results. Have used it for over one month as advised. Great idea, wish it had worked. Also neat little individual servings, but seems like a lot of packaging, ending up in the trash.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Flies My mare still had flies after 3 weeks. They were the young ones and some horse flies which are the worst.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I was a little skeptic about it at first but after a month it really started to work! I've definitely noticed less flies on him especially around his face.
Date published: 2017-07-29
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works My new gelding is super sensitive to bugs. He has been on this for almost six weeks now and we are both pleased.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tried it all summer, no big change I started my guy on this back in May, hoping it would help with the awful bugs WI was already dealing with. I kept him on it all summer thinking it would build in his system, but I just did not see a change. He comes in from the field with bug bites and is so reactive to the constant mosquitoes and flies we rarely ride outside. I was really hoping this product would work for us, but it did not. He did eat it though!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My picky eater loves it! Helps keep the bugs away, easy to feed pellets, and my rotten, picky gelding ate it right up!
Date published: 2017-07-26
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works I have been using SmartBug-Off pellets for quite awhile...it makes a big difference with the flies!
Date published: 2017-07-25
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hard to review - my horse wouldn't eat it My horse hides all summer due to the bugs, so I thought I would try this product. He refused to eat it no matter how I tried to hid it. SmartPak was GREAT about refunding my money though.
Date published: 2017-07-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy peasy to use. Haven't had a tick problem all season having started this in the spring. Definitely using it again next year.
Date published: 2017-07-18
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so good I had high hopes for this product, but it didn't work for my 2 mares with fly-bite allergies. After 2 weeks on the product, their itching got much worse and we had less than normal flies around the barn. I consulted with my vet, and took them off the product. Within 3 days, they were both back to normal, no more excessive itching. I know it wasn't the garlic because I fed straight granulated garlic last summer. It had to be one of the other ingredients. I won't be using any feed-thru fly products in the future. I'm now very suspicious of these types of products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems to work okay. I've previously used Buggzo with great success but SmartPak doesn't offer it any longer, so I thought I'd try this. It doesn't seem as effective as the Buggzo, but it does seem to be helping. It's a different horse at a different barn, so it's hard to know what the differentiating factor is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure yet Second month using this product. Not sure if it is working. Bugs are bad everywhere during Summer months, but Florida bugs are year round.
Date published: 2017-07-11
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure I haven't noticed a huge difference in fly reduction on my horse yet. I will continue to finish the entire package before deciding to purchase again or not.
Date published: 2017-07-08
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tried this to help with the bugs I bought this a month ago, but since no other horse in his paddock is on this it does not work very well.
Date published: 2017-07-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working! Five horses started taking this about a month ago. We are in a HOT, HUMID, swampy area with plenty of biting flies! I have noticed less tail swishing and stomping!
Date published: 2017-07-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from really did the trick! I bought this because we have a ton of biting stable flies and we just weren't getting a handle on it with other strategies and the horses were miserable. When we got it, I thought "no way will my horses eat this" because it is very strong smelling. They love it! I've been using it along with the traps and baits I was using and all of a sudden the flies have dramatically decreased. It's been a few weeks.
Date published: 2017-07-03
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems to work I have been using this for a couple of months. The flies do seem to be a lot fewer in the area of body mass (i.e. barrel and neck areas) but does not seem to do much in the area of low body mass, (face and legs). I do notice my horses' tails are not flipping nearly as much as the neighbor's horses'.
Date published: 2017-06-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fewer flies This product is easy to feed and I have noticed fewer flies.
Date published: 2017-06-26
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bugs be gone please I have always given my horse apple cider in his feed so I thought I'd give this a try and see if it made any difference for my fly pansy of a horse who thinks bugs are pure evil. However, it really has not made a noticeable impact. The same amount of bugs are around him and landing on him still after two months of Use. & Yes they are biting him. Now it might just be the fact that we have 60 acres and 30 plus horses in boarding and he is the only one with any fly control, which is why I've given it three stars, as I assume it works better if there are less bugs in general and more insect control on a smaller scale. I used simplify in the past with great results on my personal property but I can't afford to give 30 plus horses that aren't mine smart bug off. I will continue to use this summer just to see if it improves

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skeptic made a believer I live in Virginia and this is my first summer here. The bugs are out for a vengeance, they even come after me! All sorts of flies... horseflies, houseflies, no see-ums... everywhere! I couldn't stand seeing my horses getting eaten alive anymore... and the fly spray only lasts so long when its pouring everyday and they're sweating it off the next minute. I've had my two horses on this product about 2 weeks now and I certainly see a difference! Yes the flies still are around, but I imagine they always will be. I used this accompanied by some Pyranha fly spray and my horses are COMPLETELY bug free for a couple hours. It's comforting to know they get full relief. Even when the fly spray wears off there are hardly any bugs around. The ones that are around are mainly on their face and sheath area. Nothing a little Desitin, Swat, (or) Bagbalm and a flymask can't help! I'm glad I bought this! It is a great weapon of defense for these brutal bugs! Also, My horses are not on grain currently... they live on acres of very lush pasture. Therefor there is nothing for me to hide the taste of this in... They take it right out of my hand! (Even my BLM mustang who's very skeptical of strong tastes and smells)They consider it their daily treat. So for palatability purposes, I'd say this was pretty good!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too soon to be sure yet I've had one horse on this about six weeks, and started another 2 weeks ago. I will say they do like the taste, no problem eating it with their food. One of our horses has a distinct bug PHOBIA - he hates bugs that aren't even there! I thought this would be a real problem this summer (we just acquired him from a Rescue barn in February) but he's a lot better already. Not sure if it's due to the Pellets or not I'd like to wait and review again when more time goes by.
Date published: 2017-06-21
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not sure it works I haven't seen a noticeable change in sores on my donkey's legs due to fly bites since starting the product
Date published: 2017-06-20
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems to be working! I tried the bucket size first for all horses. It worked better on some horses than others. I added to my horses Smartpaks that showed the best responses. It does work!.
Date published: 2017-06-13
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent results My Mustang Slate has been on this for 1 1/2 months and I can really see the difference!!!
Date published: 2017-06-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My horse loves bug off pellets he is hyper sensitive to bugs and this helps him so much during the summer months
Date published: 2017-06-03
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really not working I had hoped this would make a difference in the attraction my horse has for flies. But there hasn't been a difference. I'm stopping this and ordering Smart whatever to help him at least not have such an allergic reaction to the fly bites he gets. I use fly bags, strips, fly predators, and fly spray to keep the population under control, but my black horse is an attractant!
Date published: 2017-06-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I bought this a few weeks ago and have been giving it to my oh-so-sensitive boy. I honestly wasn't sure it was helping him until tonight. We've had such strange weather so I didn't know it that had anything to do with it. He still needs his flysheet of course, and tomorrow we will try the new one with the neck guard too - but I stood watching him and my other gelding who isn't so sensitive as they ate dinner and guess who was doing all the stomping? Yep - he goes on this as well! It took a day or two to get over the taste but after that it's been readily consumed.
Date published: 2017-06-01
Rated 4 out of 5 by from My horse loves it! Feeding to one of my two horses. I can definitely see a difference in the amount of flies from one to the other. Have also seen a decrease in mosquito problems.
Date published: 2017-05-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This works well for my mare I used Bug-Off last summer and my mare never got bit by a horse fly. I'd see them around her but never landed. Other biting flies and mosquitoes seemed to leave her alone too. Our pastures have some wet spots and bugs can become a real problem. She has also not had a tick on her too. I do use fly spray too but so does every one else. This combo seems to really work for miss mare. She has no problem with the flavor or smell, eats it right along with her supplement and a few carrots

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much happier fly-hating horse Bought this to try on our fly-hating Big Zangersheide despite the "eh" response from our vet. WE DEFINITELY SAW A DIFFERENCE in the barn and outside. We still occasionally use fly spray where they are really bad. We could graze him without him being driven nuts and he was MUCH HAPPIER. Just ordered some for our second horse. Easy to set up order and if auto-shipping, a quick phone call stops shipment.
