Better than SmartGain
I have a 22 y/o TB Mare who lived in an overgrazed pasture for ten years before coming to me. You could see every single bone. I tried two wells of SmartGain for 2-3 months and saw no difference. Then I switched her to 2 wells of SmartMuscle Stamina and 1 well of Gleam and Gain Supreme. Because I switched them at the same time (and added beet pulp to her diet) I can't be sure which one has been the most influential but she has definitely improved in leaps and bounds. In only three months her ribs are almost invisible. Her behind is rounding nicely and after two weeks on working on head carriage, she is already developing a nice topline. I would definitely recommend this over smartgain for older horses.

Adds fat and shine
I have used this product off and on for my two horses over the past year and a half and have been happy with the results. My Thoroughbred was losing weight at a boarding facility so I started him on this product as well as a high fat pelleted feed and provided free access to hay. He went from being ribby to looking almost chubby with a rounded belly and hindquarters and even a bit of a top line. I also used it on my American Warmblood who lost a lot of weight when he refused to eat and paced his stall constantly as a result of not being turned out with a buddy. Once he started eating the same high fat pelleted feed and this supplement along with the free choice hay, he filled out nicely. I think there's a lot of variables to affect a horse's weight but this supplement cannot be beat on the fat content, did not make my horses "hot", and both my horses loved it and seemed shinier after use. I also really like the smell of it.

Made a huge difference, and quickly!
I was very happy with this product. As always, I love the convenience of the smartpak system. After one month on the loading dose (two scoops) my horse started to fill out better along his top line, and his coat simply gleamed. My only wish is that it came in a pelleted formula - I always worry about some of the powdered supplements settling tot he bottom and not being eaten.

I have a 20 yr old TB who is a very hard keeper. Have always had trouble keeping wait on him. Tried cool calories for months and saw no difference in him. I started him on Gleam and Gain and have seen quite a difference in him and it's only been a little over a month. He eats it all everyday and his ribs are becoming less noticable. Will deffinetly keep him on this!!

Big Bang for you Buck
I used this on my OTTB and loved it! He was kept out at pasture and was skin and bones when we got him. For months we tried different feed and forage combinations and kept increasing his food just to get him to maintain weight. All the grain made him super hot, but he was still under weight. We tried Purina's Amplify, but that made him super hot as well. Finally I tried Gleam and Gain 60, and what a relief! Not only did he gain some weight, but I could finally cut his feed down too. He loved the taste and never acted crazy like he did with the Amplify. I would totally recommend this for anyone with a TB!

Best Product for Sensitive Horses
I tried soooo many feed programs to get my 10 yr. old Thoroughbred gelding to gain weight. Grain made him hot, SmartMuscle Mass made him both hot and irritable, and Cool Calories (even on a loading dose for 3 months) showed zero results! Finally I asked my new Trainer if she had any suggestions, and she recommended Gleam & Gain Supreme 60.... WOW! My guy has gained 200 lbs. over the past 3 months. NO more ribs showing, NO more boney hips, he's even got a slight crest on his neck now. This product has also improved his attitude, he is calmer under saddle and less sensitive to groom. Totally worth the money, he gets 1.5 scoops once daily. Oh ya, and his coat is AMAZING!!!

Another GREAT product!
I had previously used Cool Calories 100 on my horses and while it worked great on my QHs, it was not as effective on my TBs. On a friends recommendation I tried Gleam & Gain Supreme 60 and WOW what a difference! My TB has put on a substantial amount of weight in the first month of being on it. I definitely recommend this to fellow TB owners as well as those with other breeds. And the free shipping definitely makes Smartpaks my first choice in supplements! :-)

GREAT PRODUCT
I have been so impressed with this product. My horse has been on it for just over 3 months and he has gained lots of weight (he is just on a 1 scoop mait. dose) plus his coat is SO shiny. This is by far the best weight gain supplement I have ever used. If you have a hard keeper, this is a must have!

Great Product
Great supplement. My hard keeper is fat, shiny and dappled with the help of this supplement; everybody remarks at how great he looks, including vets. I've just put another horse on this and am hoping for similar results.

Makes for Healthy Shiny Horses!
This product has miraculously transformed my OTTB! He is gaining gaining weight and his coat has a nice shine. I had to adjust the dose to 2oz daily though since the default maintenance dose is not indicated for weight gain.

Very Happy

Great Product

Impressed so far...
I typically have my horses on SmartOmega because I have gotten fabulous results from it, but my new guy needs to gain some weight so I thought I'd give this a try. He eats it right up, which is great, and he is looking much better already. Its too soon to really know, but I am happy with the results thus far.

misleading information on this site
This is an update on my last review. I love this product, but I have to point out that the information on this site is misleading. I'd been ordering this at the suggested dose of 1 ounce, but one serving for weight gain is actually 2 ounces, so I'm now paying twice as much to get the correct dosage.

Super Shiny
I have only been using Gleam and Gain for a month. I know it would probably be a couple months before any noticeable weight gain, but after just a couple weeks my mare's coat is super soft and so shiny.

After a month on this product my horse's weight is looking better. I don't notice any difference in his coat yet. He eats it without any problem so it must taste fine! At $12/month its one of the least expensive things I've bought for him - and if it helps my TB keep weight on over the winter then its worth it.

added this to my OTTB's smartpak to add some calories both for the winter and to add some weight in general. So far he has been on it a month, but I am already noticing extra weight in his hind end and over his shoulder, which has always been bony. His ribs, which have always shown a little are barely visible. So far, so good!

No Luck For Me...
I think this product is great...excellent value, balanced quality ingredients, but my horse wouldn't eat it. I'm not blaming the palatibility though, I've had other picky eaters eat it up just fine. The particular horse I had intended to feed it to wouldn't eat anything. He's a new horse that's been through a lot of stress, so I'm suspecting ulcers is causing the poor appetite, not this supplement. That's why I couldn't give it 5 stars all around. But if I need a weight gaining supplement again I would choose this one.

Great Product!!!
I never write product reviews on anything I buy, but this product has been so amazing that I had to share. My horses lost a lot of weight over a few months, after a move to another state. His back, hind end and neck were looking very thin, and his ribs were showing. He's a 15yo quarter horse that has never had weight issues. After a clean vet and teeth check, and increasing his grain and hay with no luck, I started him on this product. He's been on it for a couple months. I am amazed with the changes I see. He has put on lots of weight in his neck and hind end, and his top line looks so much better. His ribs are no longer visible! This product didn't just make him fat. It filled in the weight where he really needed it. He looks so healthy! Amazing product! Very glad I tried it... not to mention his coat is very shiny!

best kept secret, amazing product
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Since going on this product, my young mare is so "fat" (in a good way) and shiny that several other boarders are ordering it for their horses. I'm going to start my older horse on it too!

Great For A Hot Headed Hard Keeper
I have a 20 year old Thoroughbred mare that has a hard time maintaining weight during the winter. Thought this was worth a try to help her keep weight on but without the extra protein (I have enough trouble keeping her calm!) While so far the winter hasn't been as cold this year, she looks great and her coat is unbelievable.
