Wellfleet Monocrown Figure 8 Bridle is rated 4.125 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful bridle, especially for this price I wanted a figure 8 nose band bridle and this one looked very good. When it arrived it was a light color, but neats foot oil quickly turned it a dark brown. Before treatment the leather was quite stiff which made attaching the bit and reins difficult. Persevere, you will get it undone. The rubber reins are nice and flexible. There is decorative stitching on several parts which I would have preferred not to have. I like plain leather. The raised portions, however, I do appreciate.HOWEVER, I returned the horse size for a cob size. The horse size was VERY LARGE on my 16'1" Hanoverian.I like the mono crown feature. Very easy to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Quality I didn't keep this bridle as there is a lot more fancy stitching than the picture would lead you to believe. Other than that, it is nearly identical to my Vespucci in quality and softness. Wish there was a plain version

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Re-Review I am the first reviewer on this bridle, and felt like I should update with my experience with it as I've had it since early August.Beautiful bridle. Took a few break in rides and is super soft and supple. My trainer commented on how nice it was! I love the leather disc in place of the fleece, and the laser engraving turned out great. It is thoroughly padded. The bridle itself came a bit too light for my taste, and soaking it in hydrophane not only darkened it but also softened the bridle up.The only thing I dislike about this bridle is that the noseband very large. It was on the last holes on my 17.2hh ISH lease horse, and I am lucky that my TB that goes in it now has a big enough face to fit into it. I will have to punch a few holes soon, however. So if you're in doubt, I would size down. The horse in the smartpak picture probably has a cob sized bridle on.I haven't used the reins much, but I did use them as a curb rein when I used a pelham Very nice quality, but I do prefer my Thinline reins.Overall, comparable quality to that of Vespucci in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Bridle I had the original Wellfleet Figure 8 bridle and needed to replace it (not an issue with the quality of the bridle - horse got loose, bridle got caught and the headstall was destroyed). I looked at a lot of different bridles, including many high end brands and decided to purchase the Wellfleet again. I'm really glad I did. It is supple right out of the box and while the leather is pretty light at first, it turns a beautiful dark brown after a couple of oilings with Walsh Darkening Oil. I love the leather disc on the nosebnand - so much better than sheepskin/fleece, rubber or neoprene. I have received many compliments on the bridle. The only thing I don't love is that there are no rein stops on the reins. I use it on my jumper who goes in a running martingale so needs the rein stops, and trying to slide rubber rein stops over rubber and raised reins is no easy task. Adding sewn on rein stops would make this bridle absolutely perfect! In all, it's a great looking high quality bridle at a very reasonable price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super nice bridle! I wanted to find a monocrown figure 8 for my sensitive skinned TB and I am impressed with this bridle. The leather was super soft right out of the package and the rubber reins seemed like a nice quality. It was significantly lighter than the picture, but I'm sure after a couple coats of oil it would darken up nicely. There are two features I would add: Contour around the ears for added comfort and padding behind the O rings. I LOVED the leather padded disc, which is why I ordered it in the first place! Unfortunately my horse went lame right after I got it, so I sent it back to helps offset vet bills. :(

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Soft leather, great features! I recently bought this bridle because it had everything I wanted in a figure 8. Rubber fancy stitched reins, leather padded disk, monocrown, fancy stitch noseband with padding plus a affordable price tag. This bridle is great! However, it does run big. The horse size does fit my 16.2hh big boned TB (84 blanket, and 54 girth). The flash piece is on the tightest and may have to punch a hole if it stretches. The color oils to a dark brown. All in all I didn't rate it a 5 just because of size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it I received this bridle on Wednesday and rode in it yesterday. It came as a medium chestnut-y color, definitely not "edgewood orange", but too light for my taste. It was also a bit stiff, however I cleaned and conditioned, then used Hydrophane darkening oil on it to darken it. I used too many coats to count on this bridle, however I did get it to the perfect shade to match my Devoucoux Chiberta event saddle and Thinline reins. Once oiled and conditioned several times, the leather softened up quite a bit!I rode in the bridle yesterday and I would say this bridle runs large. The horse size is ALMOST too big on my 17.2hh Irish Sport Horse. The throat latch and flash part of the bridle fit very nicely, but the strap that goes under the horse's jaw (is there a technical term for this?) is on the second to last hole, and if it stretches considerably I will have to punch in a few holes. The padding on this bridle is soft and the stitching is great. I love having leather backing on the disk instead of sheepskin or neoprene, like on the Nunn Finer figure 8. I feel as though once this bridle breaks in a bit more it'll be just perfect, although I'm hoping it doesn't stretch too much. I had this bridle laser engraved and it came out wonderfully. This bridle also comes with fancy raised rubber reins that appear to be of great quality! I do not have big hands and these fit fairly nicely and did not feel bulky. The nubs on the rubber are small, not large, and are VERY grippy. They will serve as my backup reins and I will continue to use my Thinline reins (which smartpak also sells and I HIGHLY recommend!!)In essence, I recommend this bridle!
