As riders and online shoppers, we know it can be tough to buy a new bridle or pair of boots without trying them on. That's why we moved the fitting room to your living room (or barn)! From breeches to blankets, if you or your horse can try it on, you can return it, free! Just use the pre-paid return label included in your order within 60 days from the purchase date. And of course, please make sure the item is in like-new condition with original packaging (we said 'fitting room', not 'war room'!).

Why We Love This

Made of the highest quality felt, this pad is designed to be lightweight yet durable enough for everyday use. Panels of the Ultra ThinLine (3/16") performance foam are sewn on either side of the 6mm blended felt pad spine, creating a spine free channel and wither profile to accommodate varying wither types. At the bottom of each panel is an opening to allow for the use of shims to make minor saddle fitting adjustments.

Favorite Features

  • Makes it easier to sit and ride the gaits while giving an ultimate close contact feel
  • Keeps the rider's back stable and healthy by providing superior shock absorption--prevents sore backs
  • Protects the horse's back and encourages proper rounding and movement
  • Eliminates both pitch and yaw (both types of saddle slip) of the saddle
  • Protects your show pad and your horse with this liner
  • Can be used alone for a close contact feel

For minor saddle-fitting adjustments, pair this pad with the ThinLine Shims!

Made in the USA.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Absolutely love the overall performance of the pad just wish it came in a smaller size. It swallows my horse

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Liner I purchased this pad 1 year ago and use it almost daily for riding and showing under a mayatex saddle blanket. I didn't feel any decreased "bounce" or anything of that nature, but then, I really didn't expect a pad/liner to do that. But, the shims and the material make it a great liner that helps my saddle to sit as it should and allow my horse to move more naturally. I am happy with my purchase. It has held up well, but I am holding back the 5th star because it really is a pain to keep clean! (And I don't mean pristine, I just mean cleaning off the dirt/sweat that accumulates on the bottom that is normal with daily use). But, it has held up very well given the amount of use it has gotten!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I've used this pad twice, both under my regular pad and by itself. The first time, it slipped completely out and fell off behind my horse. The second time it slipped back and left my saddle sitting partially on my horses's back with no padding, even with a breast collar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feeling the difference! I purchased this pad about a month ago, and while early spring is still a little too changeful to have given me much consistent time to develop a program, I can tell from my handful of rides in the Ultra ThinLine Western Felt Liner that I can feel my horse's back better which gives us a much better ride. He is becoming increasingly responsive to all aids, which I am taking to mean that he is more comfortable and can feel my seat better.I am not currently using any shims as my saddle fits my horse well. After much debate and research on the best way to use this pad, I decided to use it with a single-layer wool woven topper for a close-contact feel. Initially I was concerned that this seemingly-thin layer of padding would be too little and would sore my horse, but much like the English saddle truth that a well-fitting saddle needs very little padding, my horse is building back muscle better than ever and showing no signs of soreness at all. Hopefully this helps other riders make decisions on how best to use this pad--I feel that my saddle fit well initially which definitely aided my decision.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GETS THE JOB DONE My gelding has uneven shoulders and my saddle rubs on one side. The small shim behind his high shoulder fills in the hollow lifting my saddle up just a tad allowing him a bit more comfort and no rub. Still need a wider tree, but this will get me by until I can find what I want in a new saddle.
