Tuffrider Plus Rider Field Boot is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally a boot that fits! After a winter on the elliptical, my daughters hunt boots didn’t fit. We tried on ever wide calf boot st the tack store. Nothing would zip over her ankles (even if the calves would have fit). We were told she’d need custom boots. We were resigned to half chaps, then thought we’d try these. They zipped right over her ankles, plenty of room in the calves. Very comfortable!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits a larger calf BUT Was surprised that these boot fit my 19-20" calves but the regular which as per the chart is supposed to 18 3/4, I'm 5'9 and they only measures 17 1/2. Had they been the proper height they may have worked or if your on the shorter side. Unfortunately they have to go back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Huge calf? No problem! I bought these boots a few months ago. I've literally tried every other plus size/wide boot out there and these have been the only boots that have fit me (other than half chaps). I'm really happy I found these. They are a bit big in the ankle (probably due to such a large calf) but it doesn't cause any discomfort- they look like any other tall boot from the saddle. They don't leave any marks on my saddle and seem to be durable (though mine don't have that many rides so I can't speak to their durability).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too large for my 17.5 calves, but a nice boot. These boots are very nice- received them and was excited to see nice quality leather and good stitching, etc. What is frustrating is that the boots I want, Tredstep Donatello plus, are on severe backorder in many sizes, so these are really just a second choice, because I have upcoming shows and need boots now. These boots are far too big, and I definitely have a wide calf- 17 1/4 for one and 17 1/2 for the other. These boots have enough room to put my whole hand in with my leg. Here is the bummer- the boots are made in two "plus" widths- Smartpak is apparently only carrying the "Xwide", which is what I recieved. So there is a huge jump on this over a standard boot in a full or "wide " sizing. From what I can see on competitor's sites, this boot also comes in a dress version, and as I mentioned also comes in a smaller "plus" size, so that would be what I need. I would say that if your calf is under 18", these boots will be too large to have a fitted look, so it would be really nice if Smartpak carried the smaller "plus" option in this boot, it would be awesome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good boot but weird sizing Got this boot in a 7 at first. Way too big. Had to exchange and get a 6 which was sewn funny and needed to be exchanged. It was a process, but I like them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good all around boots Ive had these boots for about 8 months now.i love how soft and supple they are.all tall boots i have ever tried gave me horrific blisters. These broke in nicely. The little tab on the zipper broke off about 7 months into using them, however i had done nothing but abuse these boots with hard schooling and showing.the ONLY downside to these boots for me is the zipper falls alot if i dont lock the zipper into the little stretchy peice.i typically wear a size 9 1/2 shoe so i ordered the 9 and they are to big for my foot to look "show proper" .so now i am ordering another pair to have strictly for showing and use the current pair i have for schooling.over all i definetly got my $200 worth out of them.i will continue to order these boots as long as needed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Short Girls Rejoice! Hopefully these measurements and photographs will help you decide if this is the right boot for you. I purchased a size 7. The short height was not an option, so these were the regular height boots. I am five feet tall. I have a small (size 6 - 1/2) but wide foot with a very tall meaty instep, 9 1/2" ankles, and 16" calves. My leg measures 14-1/2" around at the bend of my knee, where the top of the boot would sit. From the floor to the crease of my knee is 15-3/4". I measured the inside (horse side) of the boot vertically as 17-1/2" from floor to top of boot. The Spanish Cut (outside edge) of the boot is 19-1/4" from the floor to the tallest part of the boot. The size chart says that they are 18-3/4". So here is how the boot fit my legs. These Tuffrider Plus Rider Field Boots have a roomy and very wide toe box, maybe half a size larger than a typical size 7. Plenty of room for two pairs of socks or extra insoles. The soles were actually quite comfortable to walk in. The ankles were a little on the loose side! The insteps were very generous and did not bind at all! The calves are a comfortable loosely snug fit. The boots were a little loose at the knee. I can insert my hand up to the wrist on the outside (taller) edge of the boot. The height of the boot is a little dilemma: the pair I received are already supple and creased at the ankle. I just don't know if the boots in the regular height will drop the extra inch or so to not rub the back of my knee. The fabric inside the boot (see photo) seems breatheable, and the seams are not rubbing or irritating. The only part of the boot that rubs in the slightest is where the zipper hits my heel its lowest point. Now the negatives: I am afraid that as the boots soften and sink, the zipper will continue to buckle and possibly become difficult to operate or worse, separate. The quality of the manufacturing left a little to be desired, the stitching at the top of the boots has drawn and puckered the leather. Also the pair I received have a strong crease all the way down the shin area of the left boot and it appears to be an original defect. My biggest concern about this boot is the grippy material on the inner calf. Just trying the boot on, I managed to rub black marks on my bedspread and a new riding shirt. Everything it touches gets marked up. I am afraid to wear these boots to my lessons or friends' barns, because I don't want to get black marks all over their saddles. For those reasons I will be returning this particular pair of boots. If I had my own saddle and didn't mind the black marks, I would probably keep them because it's very difficult to find tall boots for short legs with wide measurements.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value These just arrived, so I can't comment on the durability of the zippers (always a concern with tall boots) but I am pleasantly surprised by how nice they are. Much better than the picture! The sewn-down swagger tab does create some artifact at the top of the boot, and they will not be tall enough for me after they drop, at least for AA level hunter/jumper showing. BUT to get a boot that fits in the calf, at this price point, is like a miracle, so for schooling, fox hunting, and local showing, these are great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok for the price I bought these a few weeks ago when my previous boots had a zipper blowout and buying a new pair was more cost and time effective. They ended up being slightly too big in the foot (wish they came in half sizes!) and a little too big in the calf, but I was desperate and didn't have the time to send back and wait for the smaller size. Despite this they are comfortable, have broken in nicely and look great for the price. The leather on the leg part of the boot feels rather cheap, not sure if it will hold up very long. Overall I am pleased enough with this purchase.
