Pretty darn good
I purchased this helmet back when i was first getting into riding, and almost four years later this helmet is still holding up! The only thing I would fix is the visor. The pegs holding in the visor on my helmet weren't glued in that sturdily, so they often come out in my bag. But I usually just pop them back in and they're fine. My helmet also seems a bit small for my head, but I usually wear a ponytail under my helmet so it might just be me. Overall a great helmet, would recommend

I bought this helmet a few weeks ago, Friends of mine have the older version of this helmet and a small fit me really well. After reading the review that this newer version ran small my head measures 21.1/2" normally wear a 6 7/8 I ordered a med. With the insert folded down yes it fits me but it could be a little tighter I don't think I could of worn a small without it squeezing my head. This is a nice helmet but I do believe the newer style runs smaller than the older ones.

Great features
The surefit pro in this helmet is wonderful for me as I am hard to fit, my hat size is 6 7/8. I purchased a size M(7-71/4) and it fits perfectly!! I have never had a helmet that did. I also have headaches from wearing them. This helmet is like wearing a pillow on my head! I think it is very attractive and well ventilated!! I am 69 years old and have had many helmets this is my first perfect fit and I could wear it all day!! Thank you Troxel!

Good for trails, not for speed events.
I purchased this helmet (to wear while barrel racing) awhile ago because I absolutely LOVE the look of it, and liked that it was different from other "plastic-looking" helmets I've tried. However, when I received the helmet and put it on, it didn't look "low profile" at all, and actually felt pretty top heavy. (I wear a large, so my big head may have been the case, lol. I've seen other riders wear it without the egg-head look.) I figured I might get used to it, but after giving me mild whiplash when I wore it to run in, I ultimately sent it back. This particular helmet is marketed more toward trail riding for a reason, because although it is durable and nice-looking, it just didn't feel "made" for the quickness of speed events.

Inconsistent Fit?
I purchased this Troxel Sierra Helmet in black, the same size as the brown one I bought last year. The fit is slightly different - more narrow on the black one, which made it too small/uncomfortable for me. I also noticed that the clasp was the old snap style. Disappointing as it was on sale at a good price and I really wanted a second helmet in black. Was this an older model?
I'm still giving it high ratings as I love my brown one which is sharp looking, very comfortable, cool in the summer and quite durable.

Nice Helmet...a bit small
I bought this helmet to replace a Sierra Helmet that I had been extremely happy with for many years. I had a fall and from my horse and decided it was time to replace it. I tried on the large and it felt a bit tight but I wore it on a trail ride that was about 1.5 hours long. It seemed to get tighter as I rode and within an hour I had a headache. If by some chance a larger size is available I am going to see about returning it.

Like the western feel
I live in South Florida and it has been super hot. My work schedule dictates that I ride at the hottest part of the day. This helmet does not trap in the heat like other helmets I have tried at similar price points. Most importantly I have taken a pretty hard fall and it prevented any injuries to my head.

Great helmet with a very new strap buckle
There are two notches on the sides of the helmet, which can be painful if your head is flat, side to side. However, this helmet is great - particularly the strap buckle, which is genius. A little time is needed to get used to it, but thus far I love the price, low profile, and simplicity.

Low Profile Saved my Face!
I bought this helmet in brown on Saturday for a long trail ride through the trees on Sunday. My other helmet was 12 years old, and I thought to get a new one "just in case." Wouldn't you know my mare shifted over to the right on the trail to avoid a slimy spot, and I ended up taking a sharp branch to the forehead. It broke my sunglasses, and when I got off later in the day the branch had dented the brow of the helmet. The helmet did not shift nor move at all, and there is no question that I would have ended up at the hospital had it not been on my head. A great, safe helmet for a very reasonable price! It's stylish and comfortable, and as I said above, safe!

Must have tried on at least half a dozen helmets of various brands and styles. This was the one that fit perfectly. My head measures in between sizes so I sized up and glad I did. It is truly so light weight and comfortable that I forget I have it on.
The brown is very attractive and does not show dust and dirt easily. I've recently gotten back into riding, and enjoy western trail riding. This helmet provides good protection and happens to look nice too.

Comfortable fit and stylish look!
Love my new Troxel helmet! It has a comfortable snug fit and doesn't move like my previous helmet did. I love the fact that it comes down a bit further in the back with the added safety features. And of course the leather finish is stylish, matches my tack and so far has received lots of compliments!

Safe and comfortable helmet
This is my third Troxel Low Profile Sierra Helmet. I wore my first one out and purchased a replacement one last fall. Then I had a horseback accident 2 months ago where my horse fell on me while trail riding. I had various minor injuries but was happiest about protecting my head. I hit my head hard but was well protected with this helmet and had no resulting head injuries. It is also so comfortable that you do not mind having it on and is nicely ventilated for warmer months of riding. I highly recommend this helmet and of course purchased another one to replace the one with which I had the accident. Please wear your helmets while riding!

Even better than the old model
I finally had to replace my 5 year old Troxel Sierra Helmet and bought this one. I like it even better than my old one! Better fit, feels more durable and is definitely more "breathable"; I don't get as hot in this one. Love it!

Safety and comfort
I rode wearing this helmet and it is so comfortable I did not mind wearing it at all. I had a crash where I was slammed into a wall and knocked out. Fortunately I was wearing a helmet. You never know when an unexpected situation will occur. This is my replacement helmet, I wanted one that I would be comfortable in wearing it every time I rode. It is light weight, fits nicely and looks good. You can wear it all day.

Comfortable and lightweight, good for jumping too
I bought this for trail riding but have been using is happily for jumping. The light tan color is nice for summer heat. It's well ventilated and the foam inserts are adjustable to fit. Only criticism is that the inserts are not particularly secure. They don't fall out or anything, and they are fine when you have the helmet on, but they are sort of loose. It would be nice to have a bit firmer connection. Definitely NOT a deal breaker, I really like this helmet.

Great Western-Looking Helmet!
I recently started riding western after decades of riding hunters, and I didn't like the way my English helmet looked with my western tack. I saw this helmet on the TV show, Horse Master with Julie Goodnight, and I really liked the way it looked on the western riders. It's even better in person! I purchased a medium, and it was easy to adjust to fit snugly. I bought the helmet in brown, and I like the color a lot. It is very comfortable, and it doesn't feel like I have a huge head when I wear it like some of my other helmets do. It has a lot of vents, so it's fairly cool. I even forgot that I had it on, and that's saying a lot when you ride in the Texas heat! If you ride western and you are thinking about buying a helmet, I would recommend this one. The only drawback is the buckle for the chin strap since it slides together to snap. It's hard to fasten at first when it is on your head, but it does stay buckled well. The manual cautions against leaving the helmet in a car on a hot day since it can be damaged if exposed to temperatures over 130 degrees.
