Good Quality but Disappointed
The product is exactly as described and seems to be well made. Unfortunately, the placement of the grazing hole is exactly in the middle of the muzzle, but my horse's mouth does not fall exactly in the middle making it impossible for my gelding to eat any grass.

Easy and works well
I often pony my second horse on trail rides. I was tired of the other horse pulling my arm out while they try to graze or nip at trees. I also have a wooden hitching post where one horse likes to chew on the wood. Trail rides are now a pleasure where I can focus on riding and not whether the rope is getting pulled out of my hand. Also while saddling and grooming my other horse goes to sleep rather than trying to chew on the wood. I was worried and either horse would react negatively to the muzzle but both accepted it without complaint.

Nice muzzle
This is the second one of thes I have gotten. The first lasted for more than one grazing season before my pony chewed a large hole in the bottom. Nice fit. She kept it on.

Light weight
Well made muzzle. Nice and light and I like the larger holes in front. Unfortunately, it didn't fit my mare. She ended up with even bigger rubs on her nose than with her other muzzle. Didn't work for my girl but I wouldn't hesitate to try it on another horse.

Worked like a charm!
Moving my horse to a new barn with pasture turnout was a big concern for me this summer. I researched grazing muzzles, and because the weather was so hot picked one that featured large, unobstructed nostril openings. Additionally, I wanted secure Velcro fasteners At three points to prevent my mare from pushing the muzzle under her nose and grazing around it.
This muzzle worked perfectly and I alternated the muzzle with progressively long periods of free grazing until she was on full pasture. I think it's important to separate the human reaction of, "ew, I have this device on my horse's face!" with the reality that it is effective and temporary. The horse can simulate grazing, pulling a few blades of grass through the central opening, without investing any real amount of grass.

Experimenting with different grazing muzzles, I wanted to give this muzzle a chance because of the price (less expensive than the Best Friend muzzle), and I liked the design of muzzle with the larger openings for feeding and breathing. Unfortunately, within a few hours, my horses had rub marks on their noses and lips from this muzzle. This did not occur with the Best Friend muzzle.

Tough 1 Easy Breathe Grazing Muzzle
I have not used this product that long yet, but I like the way it has larger holes for breathing and a bit larger hole for grazing. I am not looking to starve my horse, just cut down on intake. Also, it is less hot that the ones that are more enclosed with rubber. This being said, you are not supposed to leave the muzzle on 24/7. You either put it on days or nights so please do not force your horse to wear one of these all the time. Then you will be at risk for other health problems.

It really needs a strap in front
The larger openings in the front are the reason why I bought this muzzle instead of the other brand. However, they do no good because we had to turn the muzzle around to keep my horse from working it off of his nose. We plan on adding an extra Velcro strap on the front of the muzzle to solve the problem.
By the way, I bought the muzzle to keep my horse from eating dirt when he is out in his dry lot turnout.

Works Well Backwards
I bought this a little less than a month ago and it has done its job. My horse is at a much healthier weight now. I did have to make a "change" to get it to work for my horse. I had to but it on him backwards and add a nose pad to his halter so the back (now front) attachment strap wouldn't rub his face. Overall I t has caused some minor rubs, but he's fared much better then other horses who's owners bought other styles. It's done such a good job with his weight that he now wears it a couple days on a couple days off. He didn't like the smell of it out of the box, but it faded quickly.

Sits lower than expected, but it's still on!
I bought this a couple weeks ago because my horse has seasonal (respiratory) allergies and I always feel bad making him wear his muzzle during the hot, humid Kentucky summers. I like the larger nostril holes, but I was worried about him keeping it on. It sits lower on his nose than the Best Friends muzzle and doesn't have the rings to lock the velcro in place. But, it doesn't rub his nose and he's kept it on, so I'm happy with it. (Although it might not be the best for horses who are "escape artists")

Have used the tough 1 easy breath one piece muzzles for years. The attachable style is better -less rubs and I like to use breakaway halters with them, so far holding up well compared to the full muzzle with large velcro strap that all of my horses seem to rub open

Great nostril holes
It had to be adjusted out duck tape cut in half to keep basket from slipping in the front but that fixed the problem. The hole in the bottom is larger ten most whic was good for my horse because the hole in the other ones were too little and too far back. She can eat a little and it keeps her from blowing up like a balloon. She also drinks easily with it.

Couldn't be happier!
I waited for 2 weeks to write this review, just to make sure my opinion didn't change with time. I have to say the Tough 1 Easy Breath muzzle is working perfectly for me. I was using the Best Friends Have A Heart muzzle on one of my horses, and although it is a great product, he very clearly objected; 1) because he thought it restricted his air flow, and 2) because the small hole made it too difficult for him to get enough grass to satisfy his hunger. He fought having it put on, even with generous treats, and kept begging me to take it off. It also caused rubs on his face, even with sheepskin pieces added. So when I saw an add for the Tough 1 Easy Breathe muzzle I thought it might solve our problems. We are experiencing a phenomenal year for grass, and even my "skinny" horse was becoming overweight. So I bought 2 of the Easy Breathe muzzles with my fingers crossed.
I like them SO much better than the Best Friends. I like the open areas near the nostrils, and I LOVE the larger grazing opening. I have attached them to leather halters, and the horses wear them 14 hours a day without any rubs. I have used food rewards to get them to accept having them put on in the morning, because let's face it, they would much prefer to be naked, but there is never a fight. For the first few days they did try to rub them off, but with no luck. Now that they are accustomed to them, and know that they can get plenty to eat, they no longer try to get them off.
They are shallower than the Best Friends, but since my horses have short faces, that doesn't seem to present a problem. They also seem to be bigger around than the Best Friends, which gives them plenty of room without the need for additional protection from rubs. My horses are happier having more pasture turnout, and I am happier because there doesn't seem to be any downside.

Not very durable
The muzzle came promptly. It was easy to fit, and I liked the nostril openings. It looked more comfortable and cooler than my previous muzzle. Unfortunately, my mare ripped it comletely apart within a week. I am back to using the old style.

too large and bulky
I purchased these for my two mirrors about a month ago and tried all of the adjustments for about 3 weeks. however, they rubbed sores on my mares. One sore on the muzzle and one sore under her muzzle. I even tried extra padding which didn't help. Thank God for the superior customer support at SmartPak! They said to return them for credit or exchange--never have to pay for return shipping--best-ever customer support services!

Good design
I really liked the design of this muzzle - large openings for nostrils and larger opening for grass than the usual small circular opening - so was disappointed when it didn't fit my plus-size draft cross mare. Her poor nose was squashed in it! I think the sizing would provide a correct fit for most average sized horses. I hope they'll eventually make an oversize version. Also it would help if they added a fourth Velcro strap.

Not as deep as other muzzles I've tried
I liked the larger nostril openings for this, but it's not as deep as other similar muzzles I've bought, so when I put it on my mare's halter it really smooshed against her nose, I couldn't give her any space between the end of her face and the muzzle. I tried it once overnight and she got a big rub. While I think that some rubbing is inevitable--my horses usually end up with muzzle calluses--this was too much too quick, and I really thought it was due to poor fit. It's otherwise well made, so if you're looking for a shallow muzzle this might be good.

I always have heavy muscled quarter horses. There for with 2 acres of pasture they need to wear muzzles. The other type restrict the breathing and puts them in a panic. This new muzzle is perfect. He grazes, breaths, drinks and is working out very well for us. Thanks for the new design. Its great.

Best Grazing Muzzle that horses love
I am so happy that Smartpak carries this muzzle. I have 4 IR horses and none could tolerate other grazing muzzles until I tried the tough 1. It has openings for the nostril so the horse does not feel claustrophobic. The opening for them to graze is rectangular vs round, which helps them feel like they can graze.
I LOVE this brand because my horses accept it, making my job easier using it.
I use both the tough 1 grazing muzzle with the crown piece, as well as the tough 1 grazing muzzle attachment which is used with a halter. My Houdini horse has to use the attachment grazing muzzle, but my others do just fine with the muzzle with the crown attached.

Great idea, execution needs work
I love the large nostril areas, the padding is great and overall construction is good! However, the hole is way too big - it's like 3 or 4x the size of a regular grazing muzzle - which totally defeats the purpose. My horse was getting so much grass through the hole that she still gained a bunch of weight in a 3 week period and then her feet started getting hot and she'd be laying down daily in the pasture by 1:00. We had to take her off the pasture entirely for a week and then put her in a regular muzzle. I've been using the regular muzzles since then and have not had this problem. I really wish this company would make this style of muzzle but with a regular sized grass hole.

Nice idea, but...
Our gelding was able to repeatedly flip this backwards and would wind up with the top edge in his mouth. I'll admit he likes to rub when anything is on his head but we couldn't get this adjusted properly. I didn't want it jammed up against his lips. I really liked the larger openings around the nostrils and even the larger opening for grass. I thought it would be a good option for his first introduction to a grazing muzzle. We ended up needing a muzzle with front straps in order to thwart his attempts to remove it long enough for him to give up and graze. If they ever add front straps to this particular muzzle I may be tempted to try it again. Oh, I do want to mention the SMELL. Very, very strong rubber smell compared to the Best Friend model we bought... Like standing in a tire shop.
