Fringe makes me go meh
Mask is great, but the fringe is better as an idea than a reality. Drive my mare crazy, she was constantly snoring and trying to get it off. Plus the end of the fringe are melted to keep from fraying so it scratches sensitive noises pretty easily. Wish SmartPak would just make one with a mesh nose extension to aid sunblocking for white nosed equines.

Great features
My horse LOVES this mask! The quality is much better than some more expensive brands and the forelock hole is awesome, which many don't have. With the long nose masks, I'm constantly cleaning nostril areas from dirt and snot, with the fringe it not only keeps the pesky bugs off, but doesn't get gummed up with stuff. Thanks Smartpac!

Love it
I bought the cob size for my Morgan mare and although it is a little snug around her throat, with the extra wide velcro strap (I love that) there is still enough to grip without it being too tight. Also like that her forelock is not inside the mask. Will definitely buy again and the price is good too!

Not for sensitive horses
I thought the fringe on this mask was a great idea - movement to keep flies away - but my sensitive horse was bothered it. I left the mask on all day to see if he's get used to it, but no: still shaking his head and snorting at 5:00. I had to cut the fringe partly off. Good features: lightweight, plenty of eye room and a very fine weave which may keep no-see-ums from getting through.

Good fitting fly mask
I have had this for about two weeks and am very pleased. I bought horse size although my horse wears a a smart pak cob bridle (his muzzle is short but his cheeks and forehead are broad enough to use the horse size mask). The padded edges fit well and the fringe is good at keeping the flies away. Masks with a mesh cover for the nose are too long for him and get incredibly dirty unless I shorten and re-hem them. Very nice fly mask. I gave it a 4 for durability since I have not had it long.

Fringe unraveling
Bought this a month ago. Waited till now to review to see how it holds up. My mare wears the mask 10hrs a day. I love the forelock hole and the darts are great at keeping the mask away from her eyes. The mesh is very breathable and lightweight. Has super strong velcro closure. The negative is after 5 days, the fringe on the sides started unraveling. The fringe was a huge selling point for me because she is sensitive to flies on her nose. That's the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars. Yes, I recommend this as long as you don't expect to get more than 1 yr use.

Fell apart quickly
First off, my pony did not like the fringe, it made her sneeze. Also, the fringe unraveled within a few days and she stepped on the long threads and pulled the mask off.
I'm really disappointed because the rest of the mask seemed well made and fit her nicely.
I would not order this again.

So far so good
Love the fringe, I am hoping that it helps with sunburn. The mask looks comfortable on my mare, I do worry about it being black in the really hot summer sun. We shall see if it is too hot. Quality looks good, well made.

Wow!! Really impressed with the quality of this fly mask and great price too! I had previously purchased a cashel fly mask. I really liked it, but this one is honestly even nicer. I wanted to try this for the fringe feature because the flies have been really bad. I love that it keeps the flies off every part of their face now. My two 15H QH's adjusted to the fringe very quickly. Both fit in the horse size. The mask has a nice large strip of quality velcro and this mask stays off their eyes even better than the cashel. Great job smartpak and thank you for being one of the few fly masks to also include a forelock hole! Would love to see this come in more colors. Highly recommend!! So happy with the quality and features of this fly mask!

Really love the SmartPak Fine Mesh Fly Mask
I really like these mask. The velcro closure is very wide and secure. Nothing is getting through this fine mesh. Even though the mesh is fine it's very durable. Love the tassels that hang down over the nose to keep the flies and gnats off my horses muzzles. Much cooler than the mask that cover the nose. Could also use these mask to trail ride in as it's really easy to see out of and covers ears, face and the tassels take care of the muzzle.

Perfect fly mask
Love this! The face covering is poofy to allow plenty of air to circulate. The Fringe completely covers the muzzle without rubbing. And no fly mask would be comete without ear protection. My herd's been spending more time out of the run-in grazing since getting their new masks.

This is a great mask BUTTTTTT
I purchased this mask for my 17.1h warmblod mare. I purchased the oversize since she is a big gal with "old world bone" and wears O/S in everything else (plus had it monogrammed). Its a great mask BUT its gigantic. O/S is more like draft size. She wore it for a few hours today and it was already off. So time to reorder in a regular size and since its monogrammed, I can't exchange

Great Mask
Purchased several different mask with ear and nose protection. Like the fringe for nose and the slit for the forelock. Bathe face cover is nice and strong, but transparent And lightweight enough to be cooler In Fl a good thing. Nice closer which keeps mark in place all day. Favorite out of five different brands.

Great protection
I bought this for the fringe to protect my horse's nose and mouth. Last summer she got summer sores at the corner of her mouth and I had to ride her bitless until fly season ended. The long nose fly mask didn't reach there. Also, I had to clean the snot off the nose part daily. This mask works much better with the fringe.

One major design flaw
I want to love this mask. I purchased the black with blue trim and it looks great on my gelding. The fit, overall, is pretty good. However, it has one major design flaw that I discovered AFTER I pulled the tags off...There is a piece of material sewn to the inside of the netting in the eye crease. I assume that it is to help the mask not "cave in" on the eyes, but sadly, it hits my gelding right at eye level. After his second time of spooking fairly hard while I was standing next to him (I assume because his vision is obstructed), I decided that it's not a safe mask for him. I hope the design will be updated, as I like everything else about the mask.

I bought this mask to try and prevent the summer sore my mare had last summer. The fringe falls right over the corner of her mouth where the sore occurred. We shal see this year. Very well made, sturdy, with great velco.

Just what I needed
This fly mask could not have been more perfect. My mare had a summer sore last year and I needed this mask to dangle over her lip on the right side. It does! It took me a night of losing it to make it a little tighter than at first and now it is perfect. Wonderful product!
