Good quality, but rubs my horses pastern and heels
I had a painter of these last year and loved them. Got a new pair this year and the bottom part is rubbing the back of my mare’s pastern and heel badly. Could be the elastic at the bottom is too tight? The old pair did not have elastic in the hem. Might try to add a softer fleece to the hem and see if that helps.

Shredded in a month
I bought these a month ago and the mesh has shredded from the top. Duct tape won’t even hold them together.
Flimsy material.

Loving These Bubble-Style Boots!
These fly boots are perfect to help keep flies off my horse’s legs and reduce stomping. I love how they are designed to “bubble” away from the legs, which helps with airflow and gives me peace of mind that there is not a lot of heat building up under these boots on hot, muggy summer days. My horse has worn these boots for days at a time, and I have not had any issues with rubbing on his sensitive TB legs. They have a stiff piece on the side that helps keep them up on the leg, and I have not had any issues with them sliding down. I also have been very happy with the quality of these boots as they are still holding up, even on my horse who is turned out 24/7 with a few friends. I found ordering up a size for the hind legs resulted in these boots fitting both my horse’s front and hind legs perfectly.

Poor construction
I bought these boots and they didn’t last but a month. Ripped at the Velcro attachment.
Tried again and ordered another pair. Same issue. They aren’t well constructed. And my horse isn’t rambunctious.
Expensive to have purchased two sets and they didn’t even last two months.
I love SmartPak products but these are the worst of all my purchases.

Not well made
These are not well made fly boots. They lasted less than 24 hours on my horse. I'm not sure she's ever had
fly boots on before (my first summer with her) but I put them on in the afternoon and the next morning she
had them both off and one was completely ripped along the velcro. I have since purchased a different brand
that I prefer (was trying to not spend so much on them) and those she likes. I think these must be poorly made
to not even last a day.

fit fly boot review
Purchased this product mid April. Put on my mare last week. Loved the product. Pretty, light weight and breathable! However, came out to stable next day only to find all 4 sleeves in a pile outside of stall. Barn staff informed me she had removed all 4 herself during the night. (Two completely ripped apart.) She has worn fly sleeves many times before. Never had any problems. Pretty expensive purchase for less than 24 hours of wear. I don't recommend.

Not very sturdy
I bought this for fly season and within one night my horse completely rips out the support to hold the boot up and shreds the mesh on the other boot. Very disappointed in the quality as I love the SmartPak brand.

Helps minimize stomping!
The SmartPak Deluxe Relaxed Fit Fly Boots are a new must for my Thoroughbred! I purchased these fly boots to help minimize stomping at flies which always seems to contribute to him losing shoes. So far, no shoes have been lost this Summer! These boots are sold as a pair and feature soft fleece around the top and bottom that has not rubbed my horse's sensitive skin one bit. Best of all, these boots allow maximum freedom of movement and have not come off in the pasture! These fly boots are pretty affordable and have held up very well!

Durable and easy to wash
I've been using these fly boots for not quite a year on two different horses and I LOVE THEM! My first horse got a summer sore on his leg and I used the boots to keep the flies off.
The second horse got an abrasion on her leg that she would not leave alone and the same boots, with a bandage underneath, solved that problem. They wash well, they wear well, and for those of you who have trouble with lint and stuff sticking to the Velcro -- use a wire dog grooming brush to remove the lint. Works great!

Does not stay up
Did not last! The first pair lasted two days- I thought it was just my pony being rough. Tried the second pair- lasted a week. The plastic strips that keep them up bend very easily and out of the four boots I have, one is still useable but it only covers half her cannon bone since it is bent. After a few months the velcro has ripped as well. My pony doesn't really fit the shoo flys properly on her front legs, so she is wearing shoo flys in the hind, a cashel on her front left and a very sad one of these on her front right since the cashels are constantly slipping. Next season I will try the Kensington version
