The SmartPak Breakaway Halter with COOLMAX® Padding 2.0 is one smart barn staple! New and improved, it features COOLMAX® padding on the noseband to help keep your horse cool, dry, and comfortable when the temperatures heat up. It also has a leather breakaway feature on the crown that’s designed to break under undue pressure. The crown piece is adjustable, along with the chin strap, giving you the ability to create a great fit for your horse. Plus, this halter also offers a heavy nylon webbed noseband and cheek pieces that are durable and available in a variety of colors to show off your style. Finally, the snap closure at the throatlatch makes it easy to take on and off without having to adjust the crown piece every time.

Comfortable
I have purchased this item for the summer overnight turnouts. I don't want her to get rubs from sweat or itchiness. I think this halter will most definitely help the situation. It is a breakaway plus easy clip on and off for the owner. love the Burgundy color as it is strong and looks great against my bay mare.

Down size
Every halter my horse has is "average horse" size. This halter, even on the tightest hole, is too big. I will be returning. Not sure if I will just exchange for a smaller size. It's okay but I don't love it.

Great halter, too big for my medium pony
I love the halter but sadly the pony size is too big for my medium pony as it sits too low on her nose with the crown adjusted to the smallest hole.

Perfect Halter!
I bought this halter for one of my horses, and will never buy another halter again! The padding is perfect and prevents rubs. My gelding gets rubs quite easily, but has not had ANY from this halter as of yet! The halter has also held up super well. I actually just purchased a new one because his next door neighbor ate part of the nose padding, gotta love halter tag lol! Anyway, buy this halter! You wont regret it!

Super cute- slightly disappointed
I LOVE how this halter looks, and its definitely good for trailering due to the padding and the peace of mind that I get with it being a breakaway. That being said, the metal grommets on the crown piece used to adjust the halter size do rust pretty quickly, so I would keep that in mind. Also, the other day my horse pulled back in the cross ties and the actual metal snap of the cross tie came off before the breakaway halter piece did. That could be due to her not pulling quite hard enough for it to break and I’m glad its still somewhat sturdy, but I’m also curious to see how much it would take to actually break.

Nice halter but way too big!
I love this halter but I ordered a full for my normal sized horse and even on the shortest hole the nosepiece covers her nostrils. Based on my experience i would suggest sizing down.

Runs big and can only adjust 1 side on the top
Runs big and can only adjust 1 side on the head. Took it off right away. Will not use this halter as it might get caught on something because it does not adjust.

Perfect fit for a hard to fit horse!
My boy has a LARGE jaw and finding a halter that I can close the throat latch on without having to drop the noseband to get slack has been a challenge. The reviews said it runs large, but for him it is a perfect fit. I also like the padding - I don't turn out in a halter, so he rarely wears one - but when he does, fit and security are important.

not even a year and its rusting
I loved this halter up until it started rusting. I bought it in september 2020 and the "stainless steel" hardware has been rusting for the past few months. It's otherwise a great halter and I love the neoprene padding. Really disappointed in the rust as it looks like crap now.

Might cause rubs
I bought this to be a turn out halter. Its nice enough but I sent it back because the way the coolmax material is sewn onto the nylon is not very flush and smooth. My guy gets rubs from literally everything and is grey so they are very obvious. I suspected the halter would probably rub him so I decided not to take the risk. For short term use I think it would be fine but not for a turnout halter.

needed breakaway halter for turnout and safety, the one we had rubbed her nose and left a bald spot. Purchased this and the poll and noseband padding are wide and soft and the leather breakaway is sturdy. The silver color I picked does show dirt fast, but that's to be expected. Recommend.

I needed a breakaway halter to trailer my mare so I purchased my first halter about 6 months ago. My mare is "average" so I bought the "Horse" size. It is a bit loose but still fits her. I bought the "Cob" size this time and it fits her perfectly. I love how soft the padding is on her nose and poll. I'm satisfied and happy with my two purchases. I like having an extra in my trailer just in case of an emergency.

Perfect soft breakaway halter
I purchased two of these halters in two different sizes and colors. (Aqua cob-size for my Arab which fits PERFECTLY, and a full-size burgundy for my Paint mare which fits well but a tiny bit loose.) Overall, I LOVE these halters. They are gorgeous colors and I love that they are breakaways. They are a great material and feel like they are great quality. The only thing I would change on the halter is the throat-latch snap but it is not really an issue. I would definitely purchase again in the future.
