Not as pictured
Hey Smartpak did Monsanto make these keepers? They are not what is pictured. They are twice the length of normal keepers With loops too big to hold a bit. Ridiculous.

Bad size
The quality of the leather is great but they are to big. That don’t do the job at they are supposed to because they are twice the size of a normal one. I would not buy this if you want the to actually change the way the bit works.

These worked fine for my full cheek bit however I do wish they were a little bit smaller/shorter in length. Not a real problem just would be good to offer in different sizes

Priced right so it’s feasible to have a few extras. The only thing I would add/change is the color. They’re too dark to match the oakbark color on my bridle yet small enough that no one will notice except you!

Huge, doesn't actually keep a bit
I have tried these on a few bridles thinking I was going crazy, I wasn't. These are HUGE. The bit pops right out of the keeper before riding, during riding, etc. Don't buy these.

Way too big to actually work
I bought these and haven’t used them and plan to return. These bit keepers are so large they don’t actually keep the bit where it should sit. I held it up next to my full cheek and bridle and the bit would sit in the exact same spot as with out the keepers.

Very big
They don't actually function particularly well as bit keepers because they're so large. My full cheek bit slipped out completely while I was riding. They're easier to get on than others, but that's what causes said problems of not staying.

These are GIANT!!!
I have never seen such a LARGE pair of bit keepers in all 30+ years of tack hoarding!! I cannot fathom that these will be of any functional use, and I’m thinking they might look a bit goofy on a bridle.
I am not sure these will ever be used, and I’m thinking they will spend a long time in my odds and ends drawer before I ever resort to using them. Just such an inexpensive item, wasn’t worth sending them back.

so these are not standardized at all....
I bought my first pair of these bit keepers in fall 2017 and loved them, did the job for half the price of Dover's and then I ordered a second pair this year for a different bit/bridle and have been having an unusual amount of trouble with them....as in my bit keeps falling out of them...like all the time. I chalked it up to the bridle having narrower cheekpieces and the bit being different (happy mouth vs. regular snaffle) but tonight I did my annual spring cleaning and discovered much to my amusement and dismay that they in fact are just totally different sizes. Needless to say the picture speaks for itself and clearly there are some quality control issues here, that said I LOVE the small ones - bit never falls out, easy to put on, nice quality, etc - but the longer ones are a sloppy mess !!

These are okay
While the brown leather does match my brown bridle well, these have very large loops on both sides and are very soft and flexible so one of them stretched greatly when I was hooking up my bridle. It now flips off the top of the bit between tacking up and getting on or if my mare has to scratch her face, which with FL summer and bug season, is a sure thing. So honestly I still prefer the cheap cardboard-y leather ones from other brands. Will keep as back-ups.

Too big to support a full cheek snaffle correctly
Too big! If you know how bit keeps should fit, they don’t. Too long, don’t support the full check snaffle correctly. You can see by photo how much longer they are which makes the snaffle still fall forward.

I wasn't overly impressed with them, but they get the job done. The color is very very dark brown. I wish that it came in black. The stitching is a little messy. The price is where it should be.

Does the job, the brown is a bit dark
These bit keepers were fine, did want to let others know that the brown keepers were much darker than the photo - they were nearly black. I'm using it on a schooling bridle so it isn't a big deal but if someone is considering using it for a show bridle, wanted to give you a heads up.

Very nice bit keeper
My OTSTB Beaux is very fussy about his bits, so this bit keeper is a mandatory pieceof equipment. The stitching is nice, the leather is of good quality, and fit my bridle quite well. I've only been using it about a month but so far so good. The keeper stays in place, it has not popped off under normal conditions, and I can highly recommend this bit keeper for use with your full cheek snaffles.

Color, style, quality are great!
These bit keepers are great! The quality is great and they are nice and dark. They fit easily into my bridle and over the bit. The only downside is that they slip off the top of the bit - a bit of tape will fix that though.

I think these are a little bit longer than ideal, but seem to do the trick. Provides a level of safety that is needed with a full cheek snaffle. They've held up well for 1 month of consistent use.

Good quality but not the color as pictured
Seem to be well made but they were much darker than pictured and therefore did not match my bridle and I have since gotten a new set that do match from a different source.

Looks nothing like the picture
The bit keepers I received look nothing like the ones in the picture. They are a much darker Havana color than what is pictured, so they don't match any of my bridles and they are pretty wide. The leather was a nice quality, but they just don't work for me.

Durable, perfect size
After a poor decision to purchase some bit keepers on Facebook from a complete stranger and never thinking to have the keepers measured (who does that?), I ended up having to come crying to SmartPak - like usual. The keepers I got through social media ended being ridiculously HUGE. And I mean HUGE. Almost jokingly HUGE. Anyway, I ordered these after some silly questions like, "Are they *normal* size? Like, for *normal* horses with *normal* bits?" These turned out perfectly, and they are in fact "normal size." The color is a rich chocolate, but I needed something darker, so a little oil later and they match my Havana leather. They are of quality leather and durable!
