Shoe Boil Boot is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for show boils These are perfect for those tough shoe boils and capped elbows. They do not rub my horse! I have a white horse with white legs and his legs are rub free 1 month in. They are soft enough for comfort but do their job of preventing boils. My horse doesn’t mind them a bit. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice boot This boot does the job. My horse gives himself a shoe boil if he isn’t wearing this boot at night. It goes on easy and stays put.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from product appeared defective The ends of the circle, where to product met, were very rough and looked as if it would cause a skin disruption

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We had never dealt with a boil before, but after reading a few articles this boot was cited as a common remedy. We've been using it for about a month now and have seen some improvement. The boil has not reduced in size yet, but it has softened to the point that we hope that the body is aborbing the inflamation fluid. It is basically doing its job. That is, keeping his horseshoe from rubbing against his upper leg as he tucks his foot under to sleep.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best prevention against shoe boil "ever"! I have an 18 hand TB who ended up with a shoe boil a few years ago from a shabby shoe job. He recently had his shoes pulled for the first time this winter and we decided to try him without the boil boots, BIG MISTAKE! He indeed got another shoe boil on the same elbow. This due to lack of bedding and my mistake of allowing the boots to not be worn while inside at night. Therefore, he will always wear these boots when stalled at night. In addition I pay for extra bedding as that is also needed to avoid the shoe boils. My horse at first would chew the boots up fairly quick. However, he has not done so in the past year as long as he has hay constantly while in the stall. I also keep bell boots on him when turned out during the day as that will also help prevent against shoe boils when he lays down in the pasture. Another trick I have used is when the boil is in the healing process, use bell boots in conjunction with the boil boots in the stall but use the bell boots upside down above the boil boots, this also helps prevent the boil boot from being pushed above the ankle at times. I had never heard of shoe boils until my horse got one and they are horrible and take forever to heal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! Fantastic way to help heal and prevent reoccurence of a shoe boil on horse's elbow. Easy to use, comfortable, and horse has no problem wearing it.
    Date published: 2017-01-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the trick! This shoe boil boot works just as it should and is the only way to help a horse with a shoe boil. The purpose of the shoe boil boot is to stop the horse from laying on the side where the boot is worn (as it would be uncomfortable to lay on a big donut like this boot), so that the shoe boil can heal over (a frustratingly long) time. A shoe boil forms when a horse lays down with a hoof pressing the skin, causing a sore and eventually (sometimes overnight!) an infection with a large bulge. The boot itself will not cure the boil, but without the boot, the sore will not have a chance to heal as the hoof may continue to press on it. Wearing the boot is the only way to stop the boil from getting worse, or for a new boil to form. Think of the boot as a plastic cone collar for a dog so that they cannot lick or open their wound. Once the infection and swelling goes down - which takes 4-6 weeks or more - there will be permanently lose skin that was stretched out due to the swelling. It is important to continue using the boot permanently, as otherwise the shoe boil may return. We put the boot on every evening and take it off every morning. Do not tighten too much as you do not want it to rub. I am ordering a new boot every 6 months or so, as they naturally succumb to the normal wear and tear given the daily use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money I purchased this boot on the advice of my Vet, although he did not specify this brand. I expected this Shoe Boil Boot to be softer, to cushion the boil and help the swelling to go down. It is NOT. It is as hard as the hoof heel that caused the problem in the first place. It also appears to be much bigger than it needs to be and after just one night wearing it my Thoroughbred was lame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My horse has a capped elbow that appeared almost over night. This has helped to reduce the size and hopefully it will disappear.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't Work For Me Bought it to prevent my horse from bumping his fetlock and causing swelling, but unfortunately didn't work very well. Might be best for other uses
