Best I've found
I used Cashel masks exclusively for years, but always thought they were very stiff. The Shires mask is my new go to. I've bought at least one for each of my horses. The mesh is soft and comfortable, but stable enough to retain its shape and not push against the horse's eyes. Sheepskin and fleece pad the mask in the right places to make the mask comfortable. Mine have held up well, even with my horses that play a lot.

Almost perfect!
Love this fly mask, the fleece covering the brow band and throat line is fantastic. I love the darted area for room around the eyes, and the ear sockets large and soft enough. The one feature that needs adjustment is the length of the Velcro tabs / they're too long and only @1/4 of it adheres. A better design would be to have it double sided so you could fold it back on itself. Would like it in white or reflective colors for nighttime and lost in pasture visibility.

Nice ajustibility!
I bought this product over a month ago. My horse has very sensitive skin- the fly mask has been very good to him. Also he has a head between a warmblood and "horse size". There is a wide range of fit in this mask .

Great flymask
Normally I buy the cashel brand but I could not find one to fit my TB mare's head so I tried this one! Very light, fits perfectly and stays on!

Fits great!
The large flymask fits our standardbred/draft gelding so good that I bought 1 for my appy mare. The horse size fits her good too! They both keep their masks on most of the time, so less trying to find them lost in turnout.

Bleeds When Wet
Bought the Full size for my big headed warmblood. It fits well so they run big. He keeps it on and seems cool enough in it. However I put it in my utility sink with soapy water for a few hours to wash; it bled and stained my sink. Trying to bleach the stain out. Never had this happen with a flymask before. I wash all of them this way. Hope its just a first wash thing...

Fits my quarter horse great
One of my horses is a stocky quarter horse with a broad forehead. I tried four other fly masks but they all touched his eyes. This mask is wide enough and has amble room for his eyes. The mesh had held up to daily wear. Will definitely buy again.

My horse loves this fly mask
The Shires fly mask fits well. It seems like my horse can see through the mesh a little better than the other mask I had for him. Well constructed, I have only had it on him for about three weeks but it is working well at protecting his face from the flies.

Love the elasticated fleece on each side of mask!
I bought two, one for each of my horses, one is a 15.1hh paint mare, the other a 16hh TB mare. Plenty of room for eyes to be free from the mask. Love the velcro straps. LOVE the fleecey elastic ends of the mask. Makes for a comfortable good fit on both horses. My 21yr old Paint mare has managed to somehow extricate herself from the fly mask twice (the velcro straps are still done up), but the mask has suffered absolutely no damage. My TB mare with her TB skin is great with it, no rub marks as the fleece is doing a great job protecting her skin. I highly recommend this product!! My only concern, I got the Full size for both my gals. My Paint mare has Cob sized halters and bridles. The full size fits my gals just right. So I would highly consider sizing up depending on the size of your horse's head. My TB mare came with a bridle and halter when I purchased her, so I do not know the size of her head tack. She has a dainty head. The Full size works great on her.

Excellent Fit. Nose Is Short
I'm looking for my new go-to fly mask. I was an avid UltraShield fan until they changed the design for the (much) worse. I am trialing various manufacturers fly masks with ears on my various horses.
I would like this mask better if the Velcro straps were shorter and the whole mask covered more of the face. Having said that, the workmanship is good, the sizing for my average horse is spot on and the fit is excellent, in part due to two Velcro closures (most manufacturers including Cashel have gone to just one). The mesh is a bit finer than Cashel, Derby and Ultrashield allowing better vision for the horse and allowing better assessment of the eyes. The mesh seems to be tough enough to withstand normal turnout wear and tear. I have washed the mask multiple times on cold in my front load washer with good results except that I cut the length on the Velcro and it is unraveling. There is a narrow "sheepskin" area in front of the ears inside of the mask that helps keep the mask away from the horse's eyes. This has the potential to get dirty and matted down if it wasn't washed relatively frequently. In spite of these things, I like the mask quite a bit.
Shires may beat out the Cashel which I am testing as well. The Shires definitely is better than the Derby or current Ultrashield. The forelock saver and single Velcro closure that is too long and doesn't allow the same fit as the two closure design are Cashel's drawbacks along with somewhat heavier mesh. If you need sun protection for your horse's nose, the Shires is probably too short and not your best option.

Barney gives 5 stars!
We have tried for 4 yrs. to find a flymask that would fit our slaughter rescue horse and finally this one is it!!! Barney is a 24yro draft/standardbred who was a Amish produce cart horse that was going to be loaded for slaughter at the age of 20. We bought him (with only photos ) & had him shipped 6hrs.to get here. He is happily retired with a flymask that fits & he LIKES!!!

love this mask1
I'm always paranoid about masks pressing into my horse's eyes and getting droopy over time, but this mask has held up great! It fits well to all shapes and sizes of head. It fits all three of my thoroughbreds from a smaller head to a larger head, they all wear 'Horse' size. The elastic under the jaw allows for a snug fit and helps to prevent the mask from being pulled/rubbed off. There is fleece across the top seem inside the mask (horizontal above the eyes) and it helps to not rub out the forelock as well as to keep the mask's shape and to stay away from the eyes. The best part is, its super affordable!!!

Fits well
Like these fly masks for my horses. They fit well and are not too close to the eyes due to the anatomic fitting. The fine mesh also allows for a good view, so they are not "blinded".
