Rubbed
Returned this because it gave my horse girth sores. Bought it thinking it would be more comfortable than average, not less, but my mare never liked it and now that the warm weather is here, she has not one but two hairless rubs along her girth line.

Comfort AND Function!
I originally purchased this girth because I was in need of a new, nice leather girth to take my horse foxhunting, and I was especially on the hunt for something that he would be comfortable out there in for several hours at a time. The current girth I had was just not the most padded and well fitting girth, so I wanted to make him more comfortable out there. Obviously this girth has comfort in the name, but it really is an accurate description of the product. It is a padded girth without being too thick and the leather is extremely soft and pliable which I find to be most important. Also importantly, it is super well-contoured and fits my horse’s big shoulders super well. I really appreciate that design compared to previous leather girths I’ve had, especially for long rides like out on hunts. I LOVE that there is a ring in the center of the girth to attach my breastplate to, but if I don’t use my breastplate, I can clip the ring back into the girth. Especially out in the hunt field, this gives me such piece of mind because I know there is no risk of it getting tangled on or in anything.

Beautiful & well made
Beautiful, well made. Soft leather, nice contour. Nice elastic but not very stretchy & elastic is short. Girth says 56 but runs small. A struggle to get on my round draft x & then I can only get up on 2 holes each side. Hoping elastic will stretch/give more over time.

Very comfortable!
I bought this because my horse is a bit girthy. No health or other issues and we always adjust the girth slowly. Figured maybe his girth just wasn't comfortable so wanted to try a more ergonomic one. This has been so much better!

Superb, but note the sizing
I agree the girth is a tad snug at first. I ordered the 55 (I have a 17.1 Cleveland Bay x Percheron who wears a 56 even when he’s quite trim), and was pleased to see the girth itself is marked 56. Even so, it probably measures at 55 new, so I put a girth extender on it, which is a tad tricky since you want it to be even on both sides - but it works for now until the elastic stretches a bit.
Beyond that, the girth is quite lovely. My boy already moves beautifully through the shoulder, but right away he was reaching even further. And as a field hunter he always wears a breastplate, so the notch for it is very much appreciated.
I’ve had the Micklem breastplate for quite a while now and it’s holding up even better than I had hoped, so I expect the girth will do the same.

Great, but tight!
This girth does a phenomenal job of placing the saddle in the correct anatomical position. It’s beautiful, soft leather, great features. The only drawback is that the elastic is quite thick and tight. As of now, it’s a challenge to get on, and I can only get to the 1-2 billet holes. I bought the same size my horse always wears, which usually sit on the 3-4 hole of my billets. I am anticipating the elastic stretching out, so hopefully it won’t be too tight forever! With that being said, the notch for the martingale is nice, as is the stretch and padding. Highly recommend!
