Rated 3 out of 5 by Cheyenne from Elite, but Not. I have an older Harwich Bridle that is extremely lovely and feels more like a $300 bridle. The leather is extremely soft, supple, and all around quality. Needless to say, I had high hopes for this bridle. I want to start by listing the good. It’s absolutely stunning! The contrasting stitching in addition to the fancy stitch is lovely and also on the reins. It has a soft padding on the brow-band, crown, and both the top and bottom of the nose band. The noseband buckle even had a roller. This is, however, where the “elite” label stops. I know that the bridle is only $123. But thats not much less than the Harwich I have. The ad says the leather is “durable imported leather”. I can’t attest to its durability. Upon arrival some of the straps have cracks/wrinkles. And it’s far from soft and supple even after oiling. The reins are stiff and plasticky. I’m not exaggerating when I say they made a cracking sound when I felt them. They even have small cracks. I’m highly conflicted. I know that SmartPak has excellent customer service and the Happiness Guarantee… but this bridle is SO pretty. I almost want to keep it to see if it would soften up after use/oil. Thought I’m skeptical of how long it will hold up. Or if those reins will ever soften. They truly feel like plastic more than leather.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Kara from Pretty but sticky bought this bridle about a month ago to use for schooling. It’s very attractive but when the weather got hot it started oozing what I assume is glue from the seams on the noseband. I’ve been wiping it off as best I can but it’s really sticky stuff. The leather is OK, it needed a lot of oil to be pliable to get it into the buckles and keepers without feeling like if it as going to crack. I had to change out the browband on it bc it was too short. If I hadn’t already oiled and used it I would return it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 8594302 from conflicted bought this bridle about a year ago and left a review after having it for about a month but I felt like I should make an update considering as I've had it for much longer and even recently sold it to someone else. I have many of the products from the Plymouth line and all of them have been pretty consistent with my expectations. the dark leather is gorgeous and the stitching through all the products has been sturdy and shown no wear. however, the quality of the cheek pieces and the leather straps connected to the noseband haven't impressed me. its not that the leather is ripping or cracking, its just not the best quality, it looks a bit wrinkled at all times and is pretty noticeable up close. I am not concerned with structural integrity and expect that this bridle will hold up for many more years with its new owner but I expected better. the price isn't high, its actually a pretty good deal, but when comparing to the lower end dover bridles I found that the leather quality on those was better. the reins that are included with this bridle however are amazing, I loved them. I wish they were sold separately because I would buy a pair for schooling and showing just to go with my new bridle. if you don't ride very often or maybe just want a cheaper show bridle to use once in a while I think this would be perfect for you, however with extended use the subpar leather quality begins to show and the bridle begins to look a bit less nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Dez P from Good schooling bridle This bridle looks really pretty, but the leather is a little more on the stuff side. Not bad, and I’m sure will soften with use. My only complaint is that the keepers are just barely too small for most of the bridle, so it’s a pain pulling the extra leather bits through them. For the price, you get a decent bridle that looks very smart. But the quality isn’t up there with my nicer bridles and the keepers are annoying, but I bought it as a schooling bridle and have no complaints. It’s definitely pretty enough to show in, just make sure to give yourself some extra time to force the keepers into place. I also can’t speak for the reins as i immediately replaced them with a pair I had already broken in. I can’t stand stiff reins, but I’m sure the pair they came with Will break in just fine when I need them.

Upon opening the package and making sure it fit, I then brushed it with oil and set it up for my horse. I use it on him 5 days per week and clean it after each use and oil it weekly. I’ve only had it since December 2020 and already the leather at the noseband is cracking. If I could get my money back, I would 100% do that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Michaelarose from Runs small & manufacturer error I have a 14.2 pony who has fit in other cob-sized bridles, but the browband on this bridle runs VERY small! I had to switch it out for a different one. Also, on one of the cheek pieces, the leather was too thick for the keeper and no matter what I did, I couldn’t get it through. Only thing Smartpak offered was to send it back but I had a clinic, so just had to make it work. Disappointing since it’s overall a nice bridle. Ended up just using a friend’s due to brow and and keeper issue.

I also love the replacement but find the throat latch is a bit too short. I have it on the last hole and is ok. Needs to be 2" longer. Everything else is great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Indys Girl from Moderate Qualty I owned a Plymouth Elite Dressage bridle previous, which finally gave way my guy's fault -- read mine! 8-( . Anyway we have traded disciplines so ordered the Hunter. Not nearly as pleased. Leather was much stiffer. When I went to loosen it up by slowly bending it it cracked a bit in spots. I treated it and it has softened. The braided reins have not. I traded them out for rubber training reins. I am disappointed after my last Plymouth which I really loved. On top of that I ordered it 30(ish) days prior to the Mem day sale-- when it came up 35.00 bucks off which I could not receive a credit for.
