prefer kerrits but these are fine
these are more for 40 degree weather because the fleece lining is pretty thin but obviously way better than normal breeches. these run large though so be warned. the belt loops are small so not a lot of belts fit through them. they are great quality all in all though. I prefer my kerrits ones because those really feel like sweatpants and unlike most of kerrits products since they are thickly lined they are not see through. since these run large if need be i can put a pair of leggings or long underwear in underneath them if it’s a colder day.

Warm, run large
I bought these back in August on a summer clearance, and I didn't get a chance to ride in them for four months, when the weather turned cold. Now that I have worn them in the saddle, I can say that they are lovely and warm, but I really wish I had ordered a smaller size. I definitely need a belt with these ones, and even then, they are a little baggy. I suspect they would have been perfect if I had ordered one size down.

Soft and warm!
I bought these in the summer, as they were on sale!! Love the soft, fuzzy layer inside the breeches. I usually wear a 28/30. I bought the 30 so I could wear another layer underneath when it is below 30!!

Cozy, Warm, Clean, and Comfortable
I bought these to try a Piper clothing product. Wasn't disappointed! These are great winter breeches. They are cozy on the inside with a slightly thicker fleece than I've seen on other older winter breeches. The outside softshell is interesting. It's a bit slippery (which softshell is) so dismounting from the saddle was a bit funny - I slid right down! Seriously, I got a little dirt on them and just brushed it off with my sleeve. After a few rides on muddy days, they still look perfectly clean... even the knee patches are still clean. I think the dirt slides right off because my boots are covered with mud and sand but then at the knee and up my breeches are clean.
The sizing is interesting. They are stretchy. I am inbetween sizes and bought the size 1/2 up. I could have easily bought 1/2 down and they'd fit very well. There's plenty of room inside to add a base layer if needed but I doubt that would be necessary with how warm these are. Next time I'll order downsized and maybe a full seat for more stick.

Warm and Comfortable!
I am a western rider. I have been trying to find some warm comfortable pants for winter riding for some time now. I was riding in flannel-lined jeans. They are very bulky and restricting. In the summer, I often ride in Piper Tights and Piper Breeches. I decided why not try Piper Winter Breeches.
The durable Piper Winter Softshell Breeches by SmartPak are water repellent and guard against wind, rain, and snow. Although I ride in an indoor arena all winter, it still gets pretty cold in the Northeast winter months. The softshell keeps the weather out but is very breathable. They stay clean when working in and around the barn. The shavings and hay effortlessly brush right off.
They are so warm! The softshell is bond fleece on the inside, offering extreme comfort even in the coldest temperatures.
I love the 4-way stretch. I wasn't sure how resilient they would be. The Piper Winter Softshell Breeches by SmartPak are so stretchy, sometimes I forget I have breeches on! The midrise works great for me. Being in my 50s, I am not a low-rise girl.
They wash amazingly. I machine wash and hang dry. They still look new after many washes.
I am hoping for more styles next winter. I would really like to have Piper Winter Softshell Boot Cut by SmartPak, using the same material and same rise. No more flannel jeans for me. It's only Piper Winter Softshell Breeches by SmartPak!

Warm & Comfy!
Perfect weight winter breeches perfect for winter. Plenty warm on their own, but roomy enough to add a base layer underneath. They definitely run large, if you’re between sizes, go smaller! I love that they stick to the classic Piper fit, which works well for curvy petites!

Love the fleece and soft shell!
I usually wear a 30 in breeches but found these run big so I returned the 30's and bought 28's. They fit great but after wearing them awhile I feel like I could actually wear a 26! Order at least one size down. I LOVE them and will order more colors next year!
