I’ll never wear anything but Piper knits again!
The day SmartPak stops making Piper knits (or changes their fit/fabric/anything else) is the day I quit the horse world entirely.
I’ve been wearing Piper knits exclusively for years now. I’ve long retired my original piper breeches in favor of these.
They’re comfy. They’re nice to ride in. I’ve had zero problems with shrinking in the laundry. They don’t tell me I’ve gained weight in the winter. The colors are fun (but my only critique is they need MORE fun colors! Bring on the pink!!!) The mid rise is perfect for me…no more plumber’s crack. They’re flattering. They don’t squeeze my too thick ankles until I’m in pain. I’m tall, and these are FINALLY LONG ENOUGH (the original pipers in longs never came close) And finally, they LAST. I work in one barn full time and one part time and I live in these. And my full time job has me doing everything from standard barn chores, to fence building and other construction, climbing, yadda yadda. I don’t think I’ve found the right words here but basically, I put my breeches through the ringer. And I’m not a particularly careful person so I honestly cannot believe my breeches have lasted this long without sustaining holes or snags.
Seriously the biggest pro for me is they just keep telling me I look great in the winter by accommodating my winter “fluff” plus long underwear without batting an eye, and then aren’t stretched out come summer lol.
If I MUST give cons, here they are:
-They need more PINK. And maybe a Kelly green would be fun! STOP PICKING SAFE COLORS, SMARTPAK!
- I had one color I bought last year where the fabric pilled pretty bad, but it seemed to be just that color that did so, as I’ve never had the problem with pilling with any other pair
-one of those cell phone pockets on the side of the thigh would be sweeeet
Otherwise, SmartPak, by equine career is in your hands. I’ll only work with horses if I have piper knits to swear by.

A bit too long
I wanted to live these breeches, but they were too long for me. I’m 5’6 for reference and would need to cuff them at the ankle. Otherwise very comfortable- nice fit. If you have long legs, this could be a great option for you.

Nice breech
I bought 48R fit me great, slightly big in the front where the zipper is but the waist and butt fit perfect. I wear 46R in the piper silicone grip so honestly you need to try each pair individually. The material is light a little stretchy, seat has plenty of grip. Look forward to showing in them. I do think $85 is a bit pricey. But when your a big person you haven't take what's available.

Okay Everyday Pant
I think these pants are fine, but the fit is a little off and unflattering. They're far too long and the waist is large. (I bought 34R, and am 200lb 5'3) That's fine of you have the ability to try them on or send back to know to get a smaller size. The fabric is okay, a stretchy cotton. Comfy to wear but has a saggy butt. I do appreciate the silicone grips they do exactly what they need to and placement is good. I think these pants are fine if you just need something to wear to the barn and you don't care what you look like. I think they're priced too high for what they are.
