The Ovation® Moorland Tall Training Boot is a workman/women-like riding boot that can take you from chores to the saddle. A full grain oiled leather foot is paired with a grippy sueded upper that has an elastic gusset for superior fit, and the side zipper with hook-and-loop tab makes for easy on/off. Full waterproof breathable membrane and gusseted entry keeps the boot waterproof to 4 inches above the bottom of the zipper. A grippy outsole is sturdy and provides exceptional support on the ground or in the irons.

Ok boot for the price
Time will tell, and hopefully I can update this review in a few months.
My immediate reaction at unboxing was that the boot is not very attractive at all.
I sized up so I can add heavy winter socks underneath and the calf will allow for that.
Hopefully they’re functional, because they aren’t pretty. At the price point I guess that’s to be expected

Sizing
I received these boots size 8 in Black hoping there may be some give regarding the calf sizing and some drop in the height as well since they are only available in regular width which shows 14 inches, a wide width would be 15 inches according to the chart. A person would have to have skinny ankles and skinny legs to ever fit into these. I'm 5'5 average build with 15 inch calves and they wouldn't zip past my ankles. I don't know many riders who have chicken legs! These boots are so beautiful and well made but they need to size them for average sized legs and offer a shorter length as well, these are also 18 inches high.

Great features
I love these boots! Ordering my second pair before they change anything about them and I can't replace them. They are comfortable all day long no matter if I am riding or working at the barn. I have worn mine all winter down to 32 degree temps and they have kept my feet warm, and I love the way they fit. Highly recommend them.

Great boot at a great price.
I looked at many boots before choosing these. I wanted to save wear on my paddock boots and half chaps and avoid changing boots between chores and riding and more chores. These boots are perfect for the job. I like how they fit snug in the calf. No hay down the boots! They are also secure to ride in and look good in the tack like paddock boots and half chaps. They have good traction on snow and ice which I really like. I wouldn’t mind if they were a little more fitted in the ankle area. They don’t look baggie though so it might be that the leather is sturdy and thicker so has more feel. Cute plaid lining. They clean up nice. I have had compliments on them too! Lastly they passed the walk across the kitchen without leaving a trail of debris. I highly recommend these boots.

Beautiful, but too small in calf
These are lovely boots- look well made, good leather, fits true to size in the foot bed, very comfy. However, I have small feet and larger calves, and the boot simply was way too small for me in the calf, sadly I returned these. after checking the sizing, even the wide calf options would not have worked for me without going up 3+ sizes in the foot.

Moorland boots run a tiny bit narrow to be true to
I liked the moorland boot and the leg length was quite good , it runs a bit narrow in the forefoot the leather is pretty nice for the price, over all I recommend the boot , but it was not quit3 the fit I needed..

Awesome Biit
I just got these boots but so far, I love them. They are well made and very nice looking. A few cautions: they are very tall, they fit very snuggly around the calf and the leather is stiff. That said, they are not uncomfortable and I expect the fit to loosen a bit. I have fairly skinny legs so if you have larger calves, I would avoid these boots. They are very comfortable for riding but they are not the soft, comfy boot for wandering around a cross-country course all day. They are pricey and I don't know how they'll hold up so I can't yet give a 5 rating to value.

Love these boots!
I have had my pair for 3 years and they have taken a beating. The don't look pretty any more but have held up well. The are my go-to boot for the barn and riding. Very comfortable too. I don't need a new pair yet but will replace what I have with another pair when its time.

Great all around boots
These boots are comfortable, easy to put on and off, great for ground work, riding, and barn chores. They’re like half chaps and paddock boots combined into one boot, with a simple zipper and velcro strap to open and close. I have super skinny calves, and they aren’t fully form-fitting, but are narrow enough to not bunch or gap. My only wish is that they were a bit taller - but again, I have long legs. The leather is soft yet strong, the zipper is a YKK, high quality zipper.

Great boot
Very comfortable to wear and work in. The grippy leather makes me feel super secure in the saddle. Cleans up really well even after wading through mud. I do have a wide calf (around 16” with jeans) and this boot stretches well. I will say that the brown version was less flattering as it stretched around the widest part of my calf because you could see the (darker) brown lining exposed between the ribs, making my legs look even wider than usual. The black version looked more uniform as the boot stretched so I kept that pair and sent back the brown.

I really wanted to like this boot...
I’m sadly going to have to return as they are too tall for me (they run 18.25” roughly) and when I flex my ankle it really pinches on the inside, bulges on the outside ankle. (It’s too large for my ankle) the calf fit is ok, I ordered Wide for my usual full calf that normally needs 15.5) although if you truly wear wide calf size normally- this may be very tight even with the gussets. The size 39 fit my usual size 8 foot fine. It’s a nice grippy leather & flannel lining, just sizing is off for me personally. Hopefully my review is helpful to others. I think the regular calf & height folks will be happy. I was hoping to replace my very old Dublins since their quality changed, but I guess my search goes on...

Had these almost 2 years, 4 to 5 days a week in use for riding. They've held up very well. My only caution is that, being leather, they do "relax" a bit. I bought the size 41 even tho I usually wear a 40, because I thought that, since the leather is pretty substantial, they wouldn't give much. But they broke in well, & I was ok with them being a smidge big, thinking with thick socks in winter, they'd be about perfect. Was fine till I lost a little weight, like less than 10 lbs. Boots became big in the calf, & that was a nightmare to get taken in. Elastic disintegrated, had to be replaced entirely. Love the boots, still, but they're true to size or a touch commodious, when broken in.

The best boot for working/riding
I love this boot so much i have bought both colors and am thinking about purchasing a 3rd pair as i've almost worn out my black pair! These boots have a generous toe box and rounded toe which accommodates a wider foot. The grippy leather upper (not quite like suede) is made of a thick leather with a slightly padded lining and wears well with enough stiffness to keep the shaft from breaking down and slouching. The elastic gussets allow the boots to mold to your calves, which is great for me since i have two different sized calves. The zipper has held up better than any i've ever had and is easy to pull up and down with the pull tab, and stays secure and looks stylish with the strap securing it at the top. These boots are so comfortable you can wear them all day and stylish and sporty enough to wear out in public! My spurs stay in place, my feet dry and warm, almost boot perfection!!

Best all around boots EVER!
I could not love these boots more! No, I would not show in them, but they are the most comfortable everyday riding and barn boot. SOOO comfortable and they don’t bunch at the ankle and cause sores. I will probably get them in brown also.

Great boots!
Love these boots! Super comfy and waterproof. I wear them every day working on my farm from stables, caring for the horses to fence/farm maintenance. Then I can dust them off and hop on a horse with out having to change shoes or add half chaps. Bonus, I think they are stylish enough to wear them out and about too.
I found they run wide in the foot which is perfect for wearing thicker socks or if you have a wide foot. I do wish they were more form fitting in the ankle area, but the extra width is not uncomfortable.
The calf leather is soft and comfy. These boots are going to take a beating, so I am super hopfeful they will last at least a year. All in all one of my favorite boot purchases. Great 3 season boot.

These are wonderful boots. They are heavy duty and good looking. They fit and feel great. No worries about mud or stall cleaning in these. They are exactly what I was looking for.

Comfortable boots!
These boots are just what I was looking for. They are casual, but nice looking (neater than a half chap), fit great both in and out of the saddle, and most importantly for me, are super comfortable. I can actually walk around in these boots in addition to riding in them. I love the liner, the zipper seems durable, the calf is grippy, and the brown is a good brown, not cheap looking. I like Ovation and I have good luck with their products. I’ve had two pairs of paddock boots and several breeches by them. It’s good stuff for the money, in my experience.
