Warmth in a chilly arena
I love these breeches! I use them to stay warm while teaching beginners to ride. We are under cover but not heated.
You need a pair of long johns underneath
and you are toasty.
They are very well made with handy long zippers up the side.

Warm and comfy
Yet to ride in them but have been doing barn chores in them and they’re wonderful! True to size. Not too restrictive.

Very Comfortable and WARM!
People at my barn raved about these breeches so I was excited to get my own pair. They aren't as bulky as ski pants, there are a lot of nifty features, like the being able to unzip the leg to get your boots on. They are warm and comfy and actually look good on, there is a shape to them so you don't look like a kid in a snow suit. Highly recommend!

Love these for warmth
I bought a pair for both myself and my husband and we love them for how well they keep us warm. I also like the features that allow for adjusting the fit and securing the pants under the foot. I’ve not ridden in them yet and my husband has with no complaints.

Beautiful breeches, love the full length zippers.
They are so warm, I’m over 50... so I had a hard time getting the right fit, the small was too tight in the waist and the medium was a bit big, but I bought medium and I love them. I haven’t used them much, but the quality looks very good.

Very Durable
My husband bought these for me for Christmas as I wanted to increase the amount of winter riding I was doing outdoors. These pants are great! He bought the medium which is a big but with pants underneath and adjusted to the smallest waist buckles they work great. I like to be able to move plus if he ever wanted to use them he could as well as he likes to ride to so I opted to keep the medium. Of course if your any smaller than 5'4 and less than 130 you might want to go with the small. I have no doubt these pants will keep me warm on a snowy, rainy or windy day. I'm so excited to test them out as they seem so durable and well made.

Nice Long inseam however a Cold Butt
I rode in these for the first time on a below freezing day while snowing and my butt was cold enough that I thought that the snow pants were allowing moisture through (which i verified wasn't happening once my ride was over). So although you stay dry they are not as toasty as I expected. That being said the length/inseam is great, no binding with bent knees and allows plenty of movement. Please note that the pants do run large around the waist I ordered both a small and a medium, kept the medium in the event i needed to wear extra layers, the waist is big and the elastic doesn't hold the pants in place, I need to add a belt, wearing anything bulking on my top half pushes push down the pants while riding.

I rarely write reviews, but these pants are fantastic! They do run large...I'm usually a medium in most "sized" items. These are unisex and a small fits me perfectly. I'm 5'6 and the length is just a tad long. They have full zippers down the leg that snap at the top, so it will easy to wear them over show pants and slip off right before going in the ring. They are comparable to ski pants with a full seat. They more flattering that I expected through the waist/hips and have adjustable waist band.

Running VERY long - can't say more (YET)
To start out, I am 5"4', 115 lbs and ordered a small assuming I need room to put this over other pants. The pants are about 4" too long on me and I can put a small animal in those with me at the waist.
However I love the look the feel and all that. I returned and am awaiting an XS and will report back in.

I'm finally warm!
I bought these for myself for Christmas. The best investment I've ever made! I'm one of those people who is always cold. Living and riding in Michigan in the winter is horrible for me. This year I was determined not to let it stop me riding. My trainer swears by these pants so I had to give them a try. The first time I rode in them I was so hot I had to take my coat off! The next time I only wore 2 layers instead of my typical 3. Who knew bundling up my legs could finally raise my body temperature? These pants are the best thing EVER! I love, love, love them!

Amazing Product
I Am a Men's College Hockey Player. 6' Tall, 185 Lbs. 32 inch Waist. 34 inch length in legs. These "Medium" Pants fit me perfectly. They are extremely long and extremely much bigger in the waist than I imagined.
I have Hockey Legs, so they're really big in the thighs and butt. I have too much room and the waist is just a little too big. When I sit down in the pants, the back of the waist sticks out where it's too large. Just so you get an idea as to how big these "Mediums" really are. I'll be sending these ones back because I wanted to order them for my girlfriend for Christmas. The pants are perfect. Super Warm. Believably Water Proof. Definitely wind proof. I would wear them as snow pants if I had the choice. They're so warm. The material is good. I see no issues with having these for a long time if you take care of your equipment.

Keeps You Warm
I am so glad I bought these mountain horse polar breeches. They keep me warm when doing barn chores during negative degree weather here in Montana. The fit is perfect and I may buy a second pair.

Great for tall people!
I bought these several years ago, but have not had many opportunities (e.g., cold) to wear them. I'm 5'11", 137 lbs, and they are perfect fit: long (I wear 34 inseam) and with snaps to adjust the waist. I tried similar products, but none fit as well or were as well made. Great for riding and barn chores. Don't know about waterproof - no chance yet to try them out.

Mountain Horse Polar Breech
Tried two pairs. The medium was HUGE at the waist, and the small too tight to zip. 140#, 5'5. The pants themselves looked indestructible, so if they ever get the fit right, I'll try again.

Warm & comfortable!
Here in Upstate New York we've been experiencing some of the coldest temperatures we've had in years! Keeping warm here has been a real problem so I decided to try these pants. The day after I got them, I pulled these on over a light pair of long underwear and Buddy & I hit the trails in 6 degree weather! Totally surprised & very pleased at how warm I stayed & how comfortable they were. LOVE THESE PANTS! The boot strap kept the pants from riding up and the cold out. Zippered pockets for keys, cell phone, etc. Very satisfied with this purchase! I didn't answer the durability question as I've only been out in them once so far, but the workmanship seems very solid.

Still waiting for them to arrive
Size small came 12/6/17. They were too small. I ordered a small. I am 5'4" and 124 pounds. Sent the breeches back the next day and I am still waiting for the medium breeches to arrive.

Very warm!
I bought these for riding in the cold PA winters. So far, I'm very happy with how warm they've kept me. I ordered a large, thinking I would wear more layers under them, but really probably could have gotten away with a medium. But they are no so big that it is a problem. They are very long, however. I have to roll them up if I'm just walking in them, otherwise I step on the hems. But in the saddle they are perfect length.

Sizing Truly Problematic
I read all the reviews about how to get the right size and studied the sizing chart. I measured my waist and hips and ordered the size by what was recommended by the measurement chart. Well the pants were too small.
I am 5'4" and weigh 124 pounds. My waist is 35" and my hips are 42" and that measurement was taken loosely over my clothes. According to the charts, that is a small.
I normally wear a medium breeches or a size 10.
With other breeches underneath, pants would not close. With nothing under the pants, they would close but the pants rise was not high enough and they cut up in the crotch. Ouch.
Sent them back and I will try a medium.
Hopefully the medium won't be to bulky because I think I will really like them if they fit.

Sooooo warm
I wore these only once in 35 degree weather and my legs were sweating. They attest to a true winter riding pant. Very comfortable and love how the waist is adjustable and I can zipper these pants on and off in seconds,

I bought these this spring 2017 so have yet to wear them on a nice cold winter day to really test them out. I did try them on and are amazed at how well they fit and felt on. Roomy where they need to be. I'm very excited to try them.

Like the 90's Rockies jeans.
I haven't wanted these FOREVER. I read the reviews, had mixed feelings about the fit. For reference, I'm at my "winter weight", 130#'s 5'4, wearing a size 4, or a 27 in Cowgirl Tuff Jeans, or a 3/4-5/6 in Wrangler Q baby's. All that being said, I should have fit in an X Small, but I figured out they are cut like the high waisted Rockies jeans from the early 90's. They never worked for me, they'd come up over my first rib. The thigh worked fine and the length worked fine, but Mountain Horse really needs to update with the current cut and style of clothing. Otherwise, they looked incredibly rugged and tough. Disappointed I could not test them on ranch chores.

Warmth without bulk.
These are the best. Super warm, yet easy to ride, walk and do barn chores in. Not bulky, so you don't walk around looking like the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man. The rise is high enough that they don't feel as if they are falling down as you walk around. Definitely recommend.

Great construction
I bought these breeches after a particularly cold weekend. I haven't had a chance to test them out yet because the weather turned milder. I did try them on, and true to the reviews I read before my purchase, they do run large. Fortunately, there are 3 snaps at each side of the waist for adjusting, as well as belt loops. The also run long. I'm 5'5" with an slim/athletic build, evenly proportioned and they're too long for me. I think they'll be fine in the saddle, but on foot I'll have to cuff them. They have an adjustable strap that goes under the boot to keep them from creeping up. I'll review again when I use them riding!

Great item, warm
I originally ordered this item in a Large as I know I will wear at least 2 layers underneath. However, not only was the Large way too big, it is very long. I returned the item and got the Medium instead which is perfect. I have only used these over pantsonce so as far as durability goes I cannot really say but it seems the quality is good and the value is good. Mountain Horse products are usually really well made.
