not sure yet
I bought this girth for a little WB mare with a big barrel, narrow chest, with a forward girth groove, because her saddle always wants to slide up. I had high hopes for this product, as the girth is theoretically designed to combat this exact problem. But I'm not sure yet.
First, it runs SMALL. Miss mare is a 48-50 in other girths (and I've tried a lot of them). I ordered a 50 for her and it is much too small. It took three of us to get it on enough to even try. I know the elastic is new/stiff, but if you're considering getting this, go up at least one size, maybe two!
The sheepskin is nice and soft, but also a bit bulky, as another reviewer noted. BUT, instead of putting the scratchy side of the velcro on the sheepskin cover, it's on the inside of the girth, making it impossible to use the girth insert alone without all the padding. I feel like that was a dumb decision on Mattes' part.
It was so hard getting the girth on, I couldn't tell if the saddle stayed put better or not. I will exchange for the 52, and give that one a try. I hope it works, but I'm frustrated that this first try was a failure.

Great concept; poor execution
I like the idea of this girth - it is shaped to help prevent your saddle from sliding forward. It features a curve that is opposite of other anatomical girths that prevent the saddle from sliding backward. But the cover is so thick and bulky over the girth, I cannot imagine being able to use this in the summer or any condition where the horse might get sweaty. Not to mention if you had your leg at the girth, the horse would never be able to feel it! It is just too much material. I am returning this girth, it is just too expensive to have these faults. If Mattes would execute this design with a thinner material, I would purchase again.
