It really works!
I bought this when my horse threw off 3 shoes in the deep mud of his pasture and I decided to keep him barefoot until Spring. It really kept his feet from breaking up. My ferrier and I love the hoof hardner.

Fast results!
I have used Keratex before, but not for the past few years. Recently, my mare's hooves have been dry and brittle. She kept losing her front shoes and my farrier recommended using it again. I've only been using it for 3 weeks now and I've already noticed a huge improvement. This really is an excellent product for strengthening weak, dry, or brittle hooves. You only apply a very small amount, so the bottle lasts a long time. I just pour some into the cap (about half a capfull) and dip the brush into that so I don't get dirt in the bottle. I couldn't be happier!

Scary Precautions - Aluminum Chloride Hexahydrate
I get that this stuff seems to work, but has anyone read the precautions? They're pretty scary. "Store locked up...May cause respiratory irritation...May cause damage to organs...May cause cancer...Suspected of causing genetic defects...Take off immediately all contaminated clothing...Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection" These are just the highlights. The precautions take up an entire side of the box.
This is going back.

Amazing Product
My OTTB has awful feet. After an entire year with pads under his shoes, my farrier decided to try going barefoot to help strengthen his feet. I ended up going 3 months without riding because he had no foot left to keep a shoe on and he was lame barefoot. After a month use of this product, our farrier came out and put front shoes on. My horse has now kept his shoes on for 8 weeks- longer than shoes have ever lasted him

No more thrown shoes!
When I first started riding my horse (a 10yo OTTB) he had dry, brittle hooves. His nail holes would get bigger and he threw a shoe two months in a row just before he was due to be shod. I started him on a SmartPak with a hoof supplement and started using Keratex to strength his hooves while the old, unhealthy hoof grew out. It has been about 6 months and his feet are much improved! After I started the Keratex he didn’t lose another shoe. His hooves are almost completely regrown with healthy hoof now so I think I’ll switch to a hoof oil. I’m sure the oral supplement helps a lot but I feel that the Keratex was key in protecting the weak hoof until stronger hoof could grow in. Here’s a pic of his before hoof. I also took a reviewer’s recommendation and bought a round bottle with brush lid on Amazon, which made application easy.

Great for toughening up barefoot horses
Recently retired my eventer and pulled her shoes. She was very sensitive on gravel and would come up with a bruised sole. We followed the directions of daily application for 2 weeks and now do once a week and she's been doing much better!

Works great!
I have been using this for about a year, and it has greatly improved my horses chipped feet. It is pricier than some products, but it is worth it, and a little goes a long way. Our farrier strongly recommended this product to me.

Barn staple
My farrier and I finally started my 6 yo TB mare on a hoof supplement (Farriers Formula) and Keratex as she went from an easy 3-4 day work week to a tougher 6 day work week, and her feet haven't really been keeping up. This is a barn staple and reliable at getting hooves toughened up. I've used on and off with several horses.

Works great!
I have been using this product on many different types of Horses for years now and has always helped keep my Horses feet hard and strong. Even my farrier asked me why my Horses feet where so hard when most other horses in my area feet where soft and falling apart.

GREAT STUFF
There is a reason this stuff is known in most barns, it works I board at a barn full of Thoroughbreds. Shelly chipping feet are common but consistent use of this and the hoof jell have improved many of our horses feet.

Keratex Works Fast@
I purchased Keratex to use, after my horse starting throwing shoes and had several loose nails in a short time period. We applied it daily for about a week, then went down to 3x weekly. It's only been about two and a half weeks, but Benji's hooves seem to be harder, there have been no cracking at nail holes, and the general peeling/softer quality of his hooves seems noticeably better. I find Keratex to be easy to apply, and just ensure that I wait five to ten minutes for it to be absorbed, prior to putting him away or back out in turnout. We've had crazy dry then wet weather and I think this is also contributing to the hoof softness. We also introduced a hoof supplement into his diet, as this is usually imperative for long lasting results and new promoting new growth. But, I am really pleased with the results so far!

Great hoof hardener but bottle not practical
Love the hoof hardener - it has really made a difference on my horses brittle hooves after a weak of daily uses and 2 weeks of 3 times a week uses afterwards. However, the bottle is really not functional at all. It drips over easily and the liquid gets wasted on the ground. Only for this reason I will not repurchase and try another brand.

My horse's hooves had to be trimmed very short because they had splayed & chipped. My Haflinger's feet were ouchy for 2 days afterwards. I used the Keratex the day after the farrier trimmed him & also on the next day. By the 3rd day his feet were no longer "ouchy" & it has made his feet hard & they are no longer chipping. I also added to his diet Farrier's Formula Double which has also helped his feet.

Love it
I refuse to use any good conditioners, oils etc.
Maryland is plenty wet and keratex is the best way to keep hooves hard and keep moisture "out". I put it also on hoof nails, and Along with bellboots and good farrier, my horses shoes stay on.

Hoof helper
This is my 3rd bottle purchased. I gave my last one to a client whose andulusian was having tender feet from fly stomping. We had been abnormally warm/wet for a MN winter, so I ordered this to help out with the horses feet as they are subjected to wet/dry shifts.

I️ quit using the hoof hardener for at least 6 months and I️ won’t do that again. My horses hooves became a lot softer and was noticeably ouchy on trail rides with stones and gravel. On my 2nd bottle and I️ notice a huge improvement.

Keratex Hoof Hardener
My husband has been using this product on two of our horses. We have tried many other hoof builders over the years but none have performed as well as Keratex. One mare has "teacup" hooves that are "shelly" and would not hold a shoe. Problem was resolved with Keratex. Our gelding has thin walls and Keratex insures that he holds his shoes between appointments with our Farrier. We started using it daily and now only apply it twice a week and we would not use anything else. Thank you Keratex!

Amazing Results!
I have an OTTB that has constantly had hoof issues since I adopted him. His soles are incredibly soft and thin. Abscesses, bruises, more abscesses, etc. I found Keratex while searching possible options and decided to try it based off of the reviews. I could not be happier I did. My horse threw a shoe about 9 days after I started treatment. Normally, this would result in some degree of lameness (and probably an abscess) but he remained totally sound and rideable. One last test remains: we're headed into winter which means tons of rain. Fingers crossed Keratex continues to work as well as it has! The bottle is a bit expensive, however, it lasts a long time if you're only using it on one horse. I've maybe used half in the last few months, if that.

Does what it says'
I bought this after an extremely wet summer and everyone was having issues with delamination and soft feet. Used as directed for 3 weeks before they were due for farrier. He noticed how much better their feet looked and asked what I was using and told me to keep it up! That was all the proof I needed that it definitely works!
