Did Not Meet My Expectations
I purchased this to darken a light brown Bobby’s English Tack monocrown bridle. I placed the bridle parts in the Hydrophane oil overnight (14+ hours), then let the pieces sit to dry in the sun the following day. I saw no change in the color of the leather. Disappointed.

Yes. This stuff works.
Had to make a browband darker to match my new bridle. Tried other products with no luck. This one was super easy to apply and definitely darkened it up.

Great product!
I love this product! It works on everything; saddles, bridles, girths, etc. I mainly use this prodcut to darken not soften or moisturize but it still works for that purpose. I've found that you do have to put in a little elbow grease but I'm very picky with color so maybe thats why. I've also found that it works better in softer leather than "harder" leather. Overall great product!

Best Darkening Oil EVER!
I recently bought a lovely new high end dark colored Havana close contact saddle, but my bridles, girths, breast collar, and reins were as dark a color. Although it took multiple coats, Hydrophane matched all off my tack to a custom match...Very Impressed! Looks like I spent so much money getting all new matching equipment, and I just bought hydrophane!

Works after a lot of coats
This product has been a great purchase to darken my oddly colored new saddle. My only complaint is that you have to apply a lot of coats over a long period of time to see results. Next time I'll just get a saddle closer in color to my desired end color!

Great for darkening and soften leather.
I used this on my Antares that had a caramel color. I wanted to darken it up to match the rest of my tack and like the darker look better. Noticed a difference after the first application but did 3 applications over 3 days to allow time to soak in and to not over Oil. Very happy with the outcome, it's like I got a new saddle! Before and after pic included.

Worked Like a Charm
This darkening oil is just what I needed. I purchased a new Western saddle and it was cheaper than the other models as it was a very light color. I did a little test on the underside of the fender before applying it everywhere and it worked great! Would definitely use again if I need to darken any leather!

I bought this one month ago and I an very please with how this product really darkens my leather. It took a couple applications to get it to the color I was looking for, but I was able to get the color I was looking for.

Didn't work for me
I read outstanding reviews about this darkening oil, but it really didn't do anything for my bridle that I recently purchased from SmartPak (wellflet hunter/jumper bridle w fancy stitching). Again - you have nothing to lose, SmartPak has an excellent customer service and I got my money back. I love purchasing stuff from SmartPak - you can always return if you don't like.

Works well
I bought this last month for my Pessoa gen x natural, which was several shades too light for my liking. I applied two thin coats and it has darkened just enough. A little oil goes a long way, and you can keep doing light layers of it to slowly adjust the color.
