As riders and online shoppers, we know it can be tough to buy a new bridle or pair of boots without trying them on. That's why we moved the fitting room to your living room (or barn)! From breeches to blankets, if you or your horse can try it on, you can return it, free! Just use the pre-paid return label included in your order within 60 days from the purchase date. And of course, please make sure the item is in like-new condition with original packaging (we said 'fitting room', not 'war room'!).

Why We Love This

KK Ultra Bits were developed after extensive research at the Veterinary University in Hanover, Germany. The results revealed some new findings: the interior volume of the mouth was less than previously thought and the palate was smaller and flatter. Therefore, the space left for a bit is quite limited. KK Ultra bits take advantage the research and of the exceptional sensitivity of the tongue by shortening the link and turning the link 45 degrees. These two changes caused the link to rest fully on the tongue without squeezing or pinching it. With the link resting fully on the tongue the sense of touch is utilized and clear instructions can be passed through the reins.

Favorite Features

  • Herm Sprenger KK Ultra bits are adapted to the anatomy of the horse's mouth
  • No pressure put on the palate clear instructions given as the tongue's sense of touch is utilized made from the approved metal for horses, Aurigan
  • Genuine patented Aurigan bits are manufactured only by Herm Sprenger. Aurigan is a perfect mixture of materials (85% copper, 4% silicon and 11% zinc).
  • Aurigan has high oxidation properties and provides a pleasant taste to encourage chewing activity and easy acceptance of the bit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great quality I have to order a smaller size, it seems to run large. It's a well made beautiful bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Bit Before transitioning my dressage horses from regular snaffles bridles to the full double bridle with two bits, I like to use this bit. The mouthpiece is the same as the snaffle bits I use. Keeping with something familiar, I am only adding a chain, which sounds and feels different. And then I add the second rein and educate the horse about that as well.Transitioning to the full double bridle is made easier for the horse by using this bit. It is also a great bit to help educate the aspiring dressage horse who has been ridden on stronger bits and needs to be educated to work in a USEF legal snaffle bit. Of course, for horses not competing in dressage, this is also a fabulous bit which has a relatively polite mouthpiece with the added leverage from the curb rein. While one of the most expensive bits I've ever purchased, the education it provided to several horses makes it the most highly valued bit in my collection. I have recommended it many times to friends, clients, and other trainers and have seen it help many horse and riders.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from well constructed bit but overpriced... Ordered this for my very strong tb jumper as a softer alternative to school him in so he doesn't get dull to his show bit (a sweet iron slow twist pelham). The bit is well made heavy and obviously excellent quality just like all herm sprenger bits. However, I feel the price is too high even for a herm sprenger. I found that my cheap rubber pelham worked just as well and was 1/10 the price so I ended up returning the sprenger. Also if you are concerned about looks at all this bit even the shank is very bright gold and flashy (atleast when new) so I would not recomend for more conservative disciplines or delicate headed horses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bit I have ever used This is a fabulas bit. I had to do some saving to afford it but this is bar none the best bit I have ever used My horse is a stinker about taking the bridle. This bit has changed all that she accepts it willingly and never fusses with it when we are riding. It lays perfectly in her mouth and she rounds and moves out on it with very minimal contact from me. She loves it and so do I. Please make some available in western style!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous bit I love this bit! My horse needs the control of a pelham, but has a rather sensitive pallate so with this bit I have the control I need and it lies smoothly in his mouth. I have found that with the KK mouthpiece I need the curb rein less and less as he is more willing to come on to the bit.
