SmartPak Returns

We put our products to the test in our barns and on our horses, so we're confident that you'll be thrilled with your purchase. However, we know that life in the barn can sometimes be unpredictable. That's why we've created a stress-free return policy. If you purchase an item and it doesn't meet your expectations, we want to know about it, take care of you and give you your money back.

Free Return Shipping on all Sized Items

As riders and online shoppers, we know it can be tough to buy a new bridle or pair of boots without trying them on. That's why we moved the fitting room to your living room (or barn)! The Fine Print

We love our products and we're happy to take them back - even custom items. We'll happily take back everything from engraved halters to personalized jackets - even embroidered blankets that have been worn (minus the manure, please). But there are a few things we have to restrict returns on (silly federal regulations).

Undergarments
Health regulations require that undergarments (including bras) need to be in new condition (tags and packages intact) in order to be returned. (Even if it wasn't required, do you really want to shop from a store that takes back used undergarments?!)

Saddles
As riders, we know what a big investment a saddle is. That's why we're proud to offer the best Test Ride program in the business. You can keep our Test Ride saddles risk-free for five days, to really make sure you like the fit and the feel. We know that to truly try a saddle, you have to really ride in it. So go ahead and girth it up. Forget about wrapping your stirrup leathers. Try it with or without a saddle pad. Basically, treat it like you already bought it, so you can make sure you really want to. Because when you buy a saddle from us, we want to make sure you love it. Of course, we want our other customers to love their new saddles, too.
That's why we have a Test Ride option for each saddle we carry - so that all of the other saddles can stay in pristine condition, waiting for their new owners. For this reason, if you purchase a saddle outside the Test Ride program, it's still eligible for return, but must be free from any marks or damage.

So that's it. Seriously. Those are all of our "rules." Well, except the most important one - treating our customers the way we want to be treated. So if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do, please call us at 1-800-461-8898 or email CustomerCare@SmartPak.com. We are always happy to help.

HAYGAIN HG-ONE is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, Love this Haygain Steamer I love this Haygain Steamer—and so does Christmas Lilly and Ruby Red! They are anxiously watching over their stall doors when they smell the delicious aroma of the hay steaming—waiting for me to appear and start filling their nibble nets with this hay! It is so nutritious, and as I understand it, only eliminates the harmful dust spores and NSCs. And, It is so much easier than soaking and draining hay, especially in the fridgid winter and the extremely hot summers we are experiencing due to global warming!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The quality of the hay is amazing! I received the HayGain steamer 3 days ago. It's very simple to put together, but the steamer is a little finicky. You can't tell how much water is in the steamer, and the "wooden" dipstick the manufacturer sends with the product is ridiculous. For a product that costs $1000, why not put a water level indicator on it??? The other part that's irritating is that the hay container MUST be on level ground or some of the hay inside won't steam; it just comes out really dry. I've learned this the hard way. Also, it won't work if the steamer sits on the ground next to the hay container. I've had to place the steamer on top of a bucket so that all of the steam runs into the hay container and not back into the steamer. I'm disappointed because I thought I could put this thing on a timer and have fresh, warm hay when I get to the barn at night to feed. Not going to happen! You have to babysit it. You have to make sure the steamer is getting hot and then watch the temperature of the hay. I don't feel comfortable leaving it unattended because there's no automatic shut-off once the hay is done. I'd be afraid it would catch fire. The BEST part about the product is the hay. My horses LOVE it. It smells like you've never smelled hay before. It's warm and fresh and dust/mold free. It smells good enough to eat myself. My 31 yo quarter horse is so happy! And, that's why I bought the product. I want him to live out the rest of his years as healthy as possible ... even if I have to babysit the hay steamer for an hour every day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NO MORE COUGHING My horse has had a mild cough for a few years. Wetting the hay down had been enough until this past winter. He coughed EVERY morning when he was eating his hay, and the cough got progressively worse to the point that it was alarming. My vet suggested a hay steamer. Otherwise it would mean allergy testing, allergy shots, steroids for flare ups, cough syrup and/or nebulizer treatments. I decided to try the steamer. Initially, I didn't really believe the reviews, it seemed to good to be true. I emailed the company and this is the model they suggested for 2 horses. I have had this steamer for about a week, and NO COUGH!!! I can't believe how quiet it is around here now!! I have 2 horses who share their pasture so I steam all the hay I feed them. They LOVE the steamed hay, no scraps are left. I purchased one, and then SmartPak had their Tax Day sale (15% off). Luckily, these steamers were not excluded (THANK YOU!) so they applied the discount to the one I had already bought, and I decided to buy a 2nd one. I also have the 5% AQHA discount. 20% off was a fantastic deal and made the steamers more affordable! And yes, these are expensive for what they are, but they are sturdy and do their job. With 2 of these models I can steam 3/4 bale at a time (4-5 large flakes each). Two of these were the same price as one half bale model but hold more (combined) than that model. I use a hay net when I steam to keep the hay contained and it makes it easy to put in and take out of the steamer, and makes less of a mess inside the steamer. The top comes off like a trash can, so you don't have to worry about the lid coming down and hitting you. And like others have said, I got a couple tubs to put the steamers in so they can drain into the tub and not onto the floor. Haygain sends a gallon jug, gloves, a bucket, and a couple can cozies with the steamer for good measure:) I am very pleased with these steamers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is supposed to do We have been using this for about two months and it has worked out well. It requires babysitting and the drainage issue can be a problem for indoor use, but if you need to steam hay, it is a small price to pay. We purchased a low, galvanized tub that was a bit larger in diameter than the unit and that solved our water on the floor issue. The unit itself is super simple to operate, seems to be quite well made and does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well! We have been using the HayGain HG-One for about 3 weeks now and so far, so good! As noted in an earlier review, it is very straight forward and easy to use. We happen to use it mostly for a mare with colic issues, so we put more water on the hay prior to steaming in order to make sure it is good and damp throughout when the steaming cycle is done. Unfortunately, the only indoor place we have to store/run it at this location is a small finished tack room where water leakage from the unit is an issue. We purchased a low feed tub a few inches larger in diameter than the hay unit and use it as a drip pan. Problem solved. We run the steamer full, and the remaining hay is fed to another mare that is a finicky eater. She seems to enjoy it and is now eating all her hay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-made, simple to use My horse was diagnosed with RAO late last winter. He can't eat hay due likely to mold spores. He's a grazer and going to chaffhay or another substitute would not work for him. I live in the extreme northern, wintry part of NY State. Hay is a November though May staple. All summer long I dithered about how I was going to get him through. Enter HayGain. Seriously, these things are expensive. But trying to fabricate one to run in a barn in winter seemed foolish and beyond my abilities. Why recreate the wheel? Thanks to SmartPak carrying the item, I could buy with confidence (though the folks at HayGain are pretty darn nice too). It works. It isn't hard. The steamer I have looks different than the one in this photo. You fill the large hay bin with flakes, I put them in one or two at a time. You can fit about a third a bale in (look at the depth of the unit and subtract 6 inches). Sprinkle a quart of water on the top, put the lid on. 2-3 quarts of water into the steamer. (It hooks up to the bin via two hoses...good quality rubber, brass fittings, very secure.) Plug it in. Turn it on. Wait. Not noisy. First no sound then a gentle gurgling as it steams. Watch the thermometer. 180 degrees and you are done. Roughly 50 minutes for me starting in 40 degree weather with a full bin of hay. Wait a few minutes. Gently crack the lid away from you because, you know, it is freaking hot in there. Steam escapes. Flakes are warm...not too hot. Hay is not WET. Damp to only lightly barely damp. Hay smells awesome...my horse is thrilled to not have to eat soaked hay. The bin has some insulating value. So far I've been streaming in the mid afternoon enough hay to feed dinner, breakfast and lunch. Not sure if the bin will keep steamed hay from freezing if stored for a few hours when it is in the teens. Note that you should not keep the lid tightly compressed at all times - seal will last longer. The steamer can operate in freezing temps. But the manufacturer recommends you keep the steam unit in a heated place overnight. Obviously, you need to keep the hoses clear of water in freezing temps. It is designed to leak a little water at the bottom...not a big deal. So far, I'm a big fan. They sent a gallon jug, insulated gloves, funnel, bucket and great instructions.
