As riders and online shoppers, we know it can be tough to buy a new bridle or pair of boots without trying them on. That's why we moved the fitting room to your living room (or barn)! From breeches to blankets, if you or your horse can try it on, you can return it, free! Just use the pre-paid return label included in your order within 60 days from the purchase date. And of course, please make sure the item is in like-new condition with original packaging (we said 'fitting room', not 'war room'!).

The unique Apple-Scented Mouthpiece encourages horses to accept the bit. Space age polymer provides a gentler bit for a happier horse. Exacting care goes into each bit: All the bit cheeks and rings are made of a top grade stainless steel in the traditional way of lost wax casting.

The Happy Mouth Shaped Mullen Eggbutt bits have a core of special stainless steel for maximum strength. Mouthpieces are non-toxic, soft, flexible and long lasting polyurethane to help protect the horse's teeth. 20mm thickness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Harsh When I got my boy a little over a year ago he fought the bit constantly always shaking his head and messing with it so it was constantly clinking against his teeth. This aversion caused me to research and purchase a Dr. Cook bitless bridle. I rode several months with the bitless bridle but I could not get him to walk at all, he constantly pranced and I had to keep a constant tight reign which wore me out and a soar on his nose! After searching and reading some more, I found the Happy Mouth bits and purchased the mullen eggbutt thinking it would be the least offensive bit. I have been using this bit for four months now and TC is doing quite well with it. Much calmer and obedient. I clean it off after every ride and other than a change in color it looks as it did when it came in the package. It seems to be very durable and now TC and I can have enjoyable times together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OTTB Love My sensitive OTTB is loving this bit! Wish I tried it two years ago! He's much quieter in the head and mouth, listens to my half halt better, I finally feel like I can ride him up into the bridle! He liked the Nathe too but likes this even better!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for some horses My mare loves this bit, and I like to use it in the colder weather since it doesn't get freezing cold like a metal bit.(Yes, we are in California, but still....) I filed a few sharp-ish nubs off the plastic mouthpiece of the bit before use. I have had several of the happy mouth bits arrive with these pointy bits every once in a while, and I'm pretty sure it has to do with the plastic molding process. The best development is that my mare will reach for the bit now when we do the long-and-low/stretchy exercises. She is a very uptight mare, so this is a huge deal!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for every horse I started using happy mouths again and was looking for the eggbutt for a greenie to prevent slipping through the mouth and not pinching. The sides made one horse's corners sore, but it worked fine for another. In fact the horse it is working on loves it. I would rate it higher, but just want to caution that if your horse has sensitive skin, it may not be a good choice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't work for my horse I wasn't really able to ride in this bit, because the 5" (smallest available) was too wide for my small horse's mouth (4 3/4" at most). Also, he objected to the bumps on the mouthpiece -- I don't really see what they are for, anyway -- because they apparently pressed into his upper palate. So I just tried it on him and determined that it wasn't going to work. Which is disappointing, because he is allergic to metal bits. Now I have ordered another, much more expensive, flexible plastic bit from Germany. Too bad the cheaper option didn't work! If your horse has a thick tongue or low palate, I would not consider this bit.
