As riders and online shoppers, we know it can be tough to buy a new bridle or pair of boots without trying them on. That's why we moved the fitting room to your living room (or barn)! From breeches to blankets, if you or your horse can try it on, you can return it, free! Just use the pre-paid return label included in your order within 60 days from the purchase date. And of course, please make sure the item is in like-new condition with original packaging (we said 'fitting room', not 'war room'!).

A favorite with top trainers, Happy Mouth bits are covered with a soft, flexible, yet extremely durable, apple-scented plastic which encourages acceptance and softness. Straight mouth bits have an inner core of twisted wire for more flexibility. The core of the Happy Mouth Jointed Boucher is stainless steel. All cheeks are stainless steel. 5", 5 1/2", 5 3/4". 21mm thickness.

Happy Mouth Jointed Boucher is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Positive results I have one of these bots and decided to order a second for my show bridle so I don have to switch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well, it makes him happy (happier) Bit was purchased for a games pony who generally hates all bits, but is way too strong for a hackamore. He seems to be pleased with this - he loves to chew on his bit (also his tongue when just hanging in the pasture), so it may be that the Happy Mouth material feels good. (and yes he's been visited by the equine dentist, no mouth problems, he just likes to chew). It's what his rider was looking for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mixed Feelings This is a nice bit and my six year old Fjord mare seems to accept it more willingly than metal. She also doesn't play around with it or chomp as much as she does with metal. If she is having a good day - not feeling moody or frisky - then it is the right bit for her. On days when she is feeling frisky, it just does not have enough stopping power and she blows right through it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bit - great price A boucher bit was recommended for my dressage horse and I really wanted to try Happy Mouth. It has really worked well for her - very responsive to it. We were able to transition from a kimberwicke with chain to this one and she shows great poll flexion now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice bit My warmblood responds nicely to this bit. I feel that the happy mouth is a softer alternative to metal for a young, responsive horse. He is much happier in this bit than he was in a lozenge bit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A work in progress I ride a young, half-bred draft mare who can be very strong and disrespectful in a snaffle. I switched to a 2-ring elevator bit which has given me the respect, softness and control I needed, but this bit is not permitted in dressage competitions. I have begun to use the jointed boucher bit (which is allowed in competitions) and it definitely has more authority than a snaffle, but not as much as the elevator bit. So I alternate between the elevator and the boucher and slowley the mare is beginning to figure it out and carry herself with more balance and impulsion. I am not disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bit! My rescued Paint gelding loooves this bit! He'd been severely mishandled in his past, and ridden way too hard. He's still rather green, and I wanted him to learn that learning can be FUN! He'd been going fairly well in a regular Boucher, but seemed to dislike the metal in his mouth. (I also sometimes ride him in a bitless bridle.) Since his dentition wasn't the issue, I felt that perhaps he would prefer a coated bit over a plain metal one. I decided to try the Happy Mouth Jointed Boucher. After I put it in his mouth for the first time, he actually sucked on it for a few minutes! Now training sessions are so much more enjoyable for both of us. He's more responsive and actually seems to like being ridden! As for durability, the plastic coating has gotten slightly scratched up after several uses, but is still safe to use. Still a great bit at a great price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bit This bit is fully meeting my expectations. There's nothing exceptional about it ... My horse likes it, it's the right size and nicely priced. I had to order a different size, so I appreciate that SmartPak will accept returns on bits and even sent a shipping label. I didn't use it, but some sellers won't take bits back at all.
