Great for soft mouths
I bought this bit because I have a horse that is in need of a playful, USDF legal and soft bit. It works very well!

Great for OTTB
I've recently acquired an OTTB to retrain and had to put together a tack set for him. He didn't take well to any of the bits I already own and a friend of mine gave me a head's up that TBs don't like nickel and recommended this bit.
He's been doing great in it since day one and picks up really light contact. He's also been better at taking up the bit when I put on the bridle.
Someone mentioned cracking or that its falling apart - I've been using for almost a month and have no issues. Will try to update if that happens.

so far so good
I just bought a happy mouth per my trainer's advice. I have a 2 year old filly starting her training and this does seem like it should be gentle in the mouth. She has happily opened her mouth for it daily for the last five days and worn it to eat mushy grass pellets and grass (to familiarize her with it). I am thinking this type of bit may also be nice in winters (maybe it won't need to be warmed up like a metal bit???) or maybe will warm up quicker.

Destroyed in just a few rides
I bought this to try with my 3-year-old. He chomped on it at first a little bit because of the novelty but not very much and not while working. Within 4 rides, there was a rough-edged hole in the rubber that made it unsafe to use. It was strange because it was close to one of the joints, not even on the edges near his teeth. I know these types of bits work for lots of horses but the durability seems very poor based on my experience.

Working for my horse who has abnormal tissue growths in his mouth. But chipping or breaking up as I read they can do.

Legality
Love being able to ride my horse in this, but sadly it is not legal for eventing dressage, however, can be used for regular dressage!

Can't use anymore
I have only had this bit a short time, almost two months, & sadly I'm afraid to put it in my mare's mouth now. I liked this bit at first & several people at my barn do well with their happy mouth bits, however my mare chews A TON and had already managed to do a significant amount of damage to the plastic on the bit. I will not be using it anymore as I don't want the bit to cut her mouth. Unless you know your horse doesn't chew that much I wouldn't get a happy mouth..

Mare loves it!
My mare loves softer bits, and eventually I found the Happy Mouth Double Jointed and we both love it! We have been using it for a month.

Nice, but pony didn't like it
Though it was properly adjusted, my 13.3 hand pony's mouth wasn't a good fit for this bit. Put at the right height with only a slight wrinkle, it still pinched at the corners of her mouth (it was a 5 inch, appropriately sized, even a touch large for her) and she was very unimpressed! So just be aware that whether or not this thicker bit works depends not only on your horse's preference but also their mouth type. It is really nice though, I'm a little sad that she wasn't a fan!

Great for sensitive mare
I just ordered a second bit as my sensitive, hot OTTB loves this bit. She will toss her head, fight and get super strong with the other bits I hav tried. She goes quietly with a soft, steady contact in the happy mouth for all three phases (we compete in eventing.) It is durable too- I have had the last one for over 6 years, and am still using it. I only bought a new one so I had one for my second horse too. It's also nice to have a plastic bit during cold New England winters as it warms up faster and hold heat better then metal bits. Highly recommend this product!

great price, works well for my horse
tried a happy mouth bit since I was told that TB's can have some medal sensitivity, so thought it was worth a shot. She was a bit strong in it the first few rides but then relaxed down. Do be aware there is a "right way" and "wrong way" to put it on so make sure you have it facing the right way.

Sassy pony has love affair with new bit...
My horse was super bit sensitive when I first got him. I had him in a regular full cheek snaffle and even with a very light hand, he was very upset about any kind of contact. I switched him to this bit and he loves it! So much so that now as soon as I get out his bridle he opens his mouth for me to put it on, and when I go to take off his bridle and the end of the ride he hangs on to his bit and plays with the roller in the middle for sometimes five minutes... He is in love with this bit. I've been using it for 6+ months and I dunk it in water and wipe it off after every ride and it still looks brand new.

Gave My Horse a Happy Mouth!
Bought this bit about about a month ago and am quite pleased with it. My horse likes to get really heavy in my hands and I am able to be soft with my hands and she stays light in the bridle with this bit. I've used the expensive KK loose rings and a full cheek Waterford in attempt to get gets off and happy and this bit does the trick. Arrived a day early too!

This bit was recommended by our trainer. Our very sensitive quarter horse took right to the bit and has not had any problem at all as he did with previous bits.

Nice bit
I usually don't use this type of bit but I wanted to try it on a sensitive OTTB. He seems to like it and it is a decent bit for the price. Not sure how long it will hold up but for now it is a good purchase .

runs small in width
I would recommend ordering a size up from what you typically purchase because the bit measures about 1/4" smaller than marked, if you measure from the inside of the ring to inside of the ring. Other than that, the quality is fine.

Just what I needed
This is for a OTTB I have inherited, super mareish, hard to ride, very sensitive and over dramatic in the mouth, so I wanted to keep something in her mouth, that she wouldn't think was fighting her. She's on her way be being a nice little school hunter horse.

Loxley Loves It
We noticed at our last show that Loxley was tossing his head and avoiding the bit. He hardly needs a bit so we wanted something very comfortable. He liked it immediately and scored a 74 in our Level 1 recent dressage show. We won't be changing this bit as he Loves It.
