Durable and it works!
I ordered the two pack of these (price seemed too good on 2!) and have been using one for about a week. My choke-prone mare is slowed to about 3x or 4x the normal amount of time to eat her food. I have tried it dry and wet feed - I am sticking with wet, but only because of the supplements I add which are easier to ensure she is getting with it wet.
It is a lot bigger than I imagined somehow - so there really is a lot of room for the food to be distributed over. It is sturdy as well. I tried to use it with my other mare, who doesn't choke but I thought it might entertain her, and it frustrated her a lot and she kept trying to paw it over. She is a draft with large feet and a tenacity for destruction. She did NOT succeed, which surprised me. The base is quite sturdy due to the design.
I find I have to clean it daily since I am feeding wet feed, as a bit gets left behind, but this is easy with a hose. I do agree with the other review that it is a tiny bit short - shavings/sawdust get kicked into it. My plan is to clean out the area she eats in a bit more to make it less of an issue.

Best feeder to prevent choke. Easy to clean!
I have been feeding my horses in another brand of feeder that is supposed to prevent choke. Unfortunately that feeder did not prevent choke. This is a heavy duty feeder and it sits on the floor which my vet says is recommended for horses that are prone to choke. It meets all the things that my vet recommended, including feeding on the floor which the
other feeder was meant to be home and it was not stable enough to sit on the floor without tipping over. This feeder is also much easier to clean than the other one and it is much heavier duty. The other brand developed cracks after about a year of use. I highly recommend this. My only complaint is I wish it sat up higher from the floor because she can kick shavings etc into it as she moves around after she's eaten. I might try to devise a DIY platform to get it just 6 in higher off the floor. But, a big improvement over the slow feeder I'd previously been using.
