Protect the fetlock
My horse hits the inside of her his ankles when I get after her to disengage her hindquarters. These boots protect her from more cuts

They stay on!
My horse got a bedsore on his left fetlock. I ordered these and they are staying on great and he is almost healed up. I also bought the hock ones.... Not impressed with them but these fetlock shields are GREAT!

Worked great
I bought these to combat persistent sores on my horses fetlock from laying down while resting. The sores would continue to break open and bleed. Tried these shields and within 1 week I had solid scabs and a few days later healed and hair is even growing back. My plan is to have him wear them when he is in his stall to prevent future issues.

Not for big horses
I bought these for my 18H warmblood. He has good bones, but his overall body type is light and leggy, not heavy. These boots have a great length to them and are well made, but they are too narrow to comfortably fit around his legs. First time wearing them for ~8 hours he had heat and minor swelling in his pasterns. For now I’m sticking with upside down bell boots which at least recognize that one size doesn’t fit all.

Well made and easy on off Velcro closures Fetlock
I bought these for Chester because his stall gets hard when there isn’t enough sand. He wears them at night when he gets down to go to sleep.

Got rid of my horse's bedsores COMPLETELY!
Despite my horse having a nice, bedded shed to sleep in at night, he still prefers to lay down in the gravel outside. He constantly had bed sores until I bought these, and now they're completely gone! My first pair have finally died after being on 24/7 for nearly 6 months. I will be repurchasing and I can't recommend them enough!

Healed stall sores within a week!
My mare had some pretty deep sores on her fetlocks from laying down. I tried wrapping and different types of topicals and although it improved, they remained open. I ordered these fetlock shields and within a week the sores were fully closed! They stay on well, don't inhibit her movement or laying down, and don't seem to collect too much mud or dirt on the inside. Highly recommend.

Fabulous!!!!
We have recently moved 7 miles from sandy soil to clay. What a big difference that is! Never had to deal with sores from our horses laying down. These shields are the BEST!
Sores are healing nicely and will continue using 24/7. Highly recommend.

better than upside down bell boots
I just starting using the new fetlock shields. I'm eager to see if they will keep that region on my horse dry during winter. The previous bell boot options became mud clogged and soggy.

Amazing! Life saver!
With the dry weather my horse was getting bad sores on the fronts on his fetlock and the flies being attracted to the area was not helping. After a couple weeks of wrapping with gauze and elastic bandage, he started tearing the wraps off. These boots stay on, don’t rub, they don’t bother him and the sores healed up in days! If I take them off the sores come back so he wears them other than when I am riding.

Great Product
My new horse was regularly cutting himself on his front fetlocks in his stall. I borrowed these from a friend and they worked so well that I had to buy my own pair. Easy to put on, he doesn't mind wearing them and he hasn't gotten any more cuts since.

Awesome design
I bought these for a mare that prefers to lay down in the rock dry lot as opposed to her stall or the soft grass - sheesh. She had little sores on the front of her pasterns. I keep these on her pretty much 24/7 and they stay up, are soft enough that they dont rub anywhere, and have allowed her sores to completely resolve!

Super shield! WORKS!
Bought a pair last summer and LOVE them. They are easier to put on than any others I have tried. They stay in place and keep the fetlock covered all the time!! They have been on 24/7 for 2 - 3 months and the sores are almost gone! Just bought 3 more pairs! Great price!!

Great for the Princess!
I've just ordered my third pair of these for her royal highness, Princess Farletta. Her majesty is unwilling to sleep or roll in the nice, soft sand pit and instead chooses the hard-packed clay. Which of course tears up the front of her fetlocks.
I've tried multiple products but these fetlock shields are by far the best. Farletta is turned out 24/7 and she wears them 24/7. I check them twice a day to be sure there are no problems. They do not rub her sensitive princess skin and they do protect her very well. I take them off when it is very muddy to preserve their longevity and because she doesn't need them when the ground is soft and squishy.
They are quite durable considering what they go through. I think I get about 6 months out of a pair before I get a replacement and relegate the old pair to back-up duty (they tend to slouch after a while). I hose them of or bucket wash them as needed. Hang to dry. More that worth the money to me as they keep the Princess happy.

Last forever!
Just bought a 2nd and 3rd pair of these because my first pair was finally starting to slouch after years of 24/7 use. Velcro still is going strong.

Been working for several years!
I found these Fetlock Shields several years ago. They are the perfect solution for my little TB mare. Before these she would cut up her fetlocks getting up. Since these came, no more cuts.
They are a bit big for her, but I found I could either trim off some of the excess velcro length - the pile side or just fold it under for a better fit. Works very well.
Only drawback I've found is using them with fresh snow - tend to get ragged ice globs inside which will cause cuts. Other than that, I use them nightly and they have been very worth the money, time and effort.
Have machine washed them, then air dry. Generally a pair will last me at least 9 months. The current pair are a year old and still working fine.

Huge!
They look like they'd do the job well...for a warmblood. My petite TB was absolutely swimming in them, to the point that I didn't feel safe leaving her unattended in them and just returned them.

Great protection !!!
I was impressed with these!! Super soft on the inside and so far have been durable. I was using bell boots turned upside down, but they rubbed. These are light and so far no rubbing.Really protects fetlocks when horses are getting up and down.

I purchased these a few weeks ago, and I am so happy I did! My gelding has very thin skin and gets sores quite easily. These have worked incredible for him! They offer a secure fit, provide full comfort, and are very durible! If you are looking for wonderful pastern/fetlock protective boots, you have found them!

These are just what I needed!
My mare had a bad cut on her hind fetlock joint 8 months ago. After it was sewn closed, she tore the sutures and it has been a slow healing process to say the least. After 6 months of standing wraps daily, I was finally given the ok by my vet to leave the wound uncovered. Since the wound is in such a high impact area, it was constantly opening back up when it wasn't wrapped. These fetlock shields saved the day! They are the perfect height to cover her whole hind fetlock (she is a big 17 hand horse) and most importantly, they keep the area dry and clean! She hasn't reopened the wound once since I put it on, and the wound is finally healing properly!

Leg Savers
I recently got an OTTB mare that gets horrible bed sores on her fetlocks, even in soft bedding. These not only protect her, but have allowed the sores to heal. She’s worn them over a week now and they seem like they will hold up well.

Great for fetlock bed sores
My gelding likes to roll and when the ground was partially frozen it scuffed up his fetlocks. These have since helped.

Useful wraps
This the second pair of fetlock shields I have purchased. I have a horse who taps the stall door for attention and damages the front of his fetlock. These wraps provide the needed protection. He wears them whenever he is stalled. The first pair lasted about a year. I consider that pretty durable. Not too expensive a solution.

Nice features
My very arthritic horse has bed sores on his front fetlocks often rubbing off the scab. I would wrap the bed sore using nonstick pads, gauze and coflex until it healed over but this was a temporary fix.
I searched online to find a practical solution coming across different options. In the end, I chose the Fetlock Shield sold through Smartpak. I like how the loose fit allow air to flow keeping the area dry. Should bedding get in, it falls out the bottom. The easy on and washable feature is a bonus. My horse wears these 24/7 and has kept the open bed sores away. I've since purchased a 2nd set for another aged horse with the same issue. Thank you Hock Shield for a good product and Smartpak for stocking them!

They work but aren't durable
I like these because they do work but they don't last long. My 25 year old gelding gets sores from the goofy way he lays down and gets up (due to arthritis) and these absolutely protect his fetlock from turning into a bloody, sore
mess. However, I've already gone through three sets of them this year. He is not hard on things but they end up tearing eventually. Will continue to buy though because it's the only thing that has worked for him.

Works... for a while
I have a bit of a distructive horse on my hands and while it is help his sores a lot, they also rode up, bunched up, and he ripped off one of the Velcro tabs from the boot. I do like the insides which feel soft and smooth for their legs.

Well, definitely helped my guys sores heal, but he is really destructive guy and completely pulled the Velcro off one of them and the other he tore the inside. They also don't retain their shape very well and don't stay up. I've had them for just a few weeks now. The only way I'd recommend this is if your horse doesn't like destroying things (he also eats bell boots and blankets..... so it may very well work fine for another horse)
