I haven’t actual used it
I purchased this by mistake. I haven’t used it yet. It only last two weeks which makes it pretty expensive.

Great value
This product does a great job deterring flies and ticks and lasts much longer than traditional fly spray.

Bye bye Flies
Have been using this for about 10 years and it never fails. We have 2 geldings that react horribly to tick bites. Equi Spot kills the ticks before they become a problem. Works equally as well on flies.

Works Great for Some - Not for Sensitive Skin
I live in a pretty boggy area that is prone to excess ticks, flies, and mosquitos. My young TB is very sensitive to bugs and I am constantly worried about ticks because we hack out in the densely wooded areas. Several people at our barn (my trainer included) use Equi-Spot religiously so I thought I would give it a try for some extra protection.
While they have had great success, My biggest piece of advice with Equi-Spot is to use caution and spot test before applying on all of the application zones. My youngster is also pretty sensitive to the harsh chemicals in most fly sprays, so I should have been more cautious. Though he did not fuss upon the product's application as many reviews warned, he developed baseball-sized welts on each application point. I felt so awful that I had caused his skin to swell up by not being more cautious about his sensitivity to harsh chemicals.
So, it is back to the drawing board for my horse and I for extra tick protection. All in all, I would say to be very cautious if you intend to use Equi-Spot and to be mindful of how your horse tolerates pesticides.

This works great for ticks
This seems to keep away all ticks and the majority of flys, but 2 out of 4 of our horses do NOT like it being applied. I've gotten plenty on my hands from the elcheapo applicator and I've not experienced any burning so I don't know what their deal is with it. But it's keeping off the ticks so they will be getting it anyway. I use it aboutoabout a month on pastured horses.

Good product for horses living in the Northeast!
I have used this product for years. Seems to do it’s job, especially when we turn our horses out on the hill with several shaded areas and brush. The horses never seem to like it getting put on however. Definitely wear gloves for application as it is likely you will spill some product on your hands

Works best for my horses
I have used this for several years now and especially appreciate how effective it is against ticks. I've found that in our area, applying it once every 4 to 6 weeks works great against ticks and helps with flies.
One star off for applicator--it's not the best and difficult to accurately apply recommended amounts. A good workaround is to empty the applicator into a small vial and use a 12 cc syringe to apply to the horse--no drips, no runs, no errors!

Works Great but be Careful of Sensitive Horses
I started using this product 1 year ago on my quarter horse. I was finding 5+ ticks on him per day, and decided to try this product. It reduced the number of ticks to no more than 1 per day (even when going out in the woods for 30+ minutes). I found it also helped with the gnats and flies some, which was appreciated because he suffers from sweet itch in part because of flies. The only thing I don't like, is that he has a skin reaction to the product. I put a minimal amount on each area of his skin (very small drop) and it seems to be OK, but his skin will swell in the area of the product. No temperature or pain on the swelling, but there is swelling - not ideal. I am looking for other products to use instead, but so far this one just does so much better than other products on the market.

Highly recommend for ticks
I started using this when I was finding 25-30 ticks a day on my horse! Now I hardly find them but I do find it works best every 7 days. I do test a spot on my horse for potential reactions before using the whole dose on a neede horse

No ticks!
Some horses at the barn got tick-borne diseases. After applying this every 2 weeks I haven't seen any ticks! He has had a little skin irritation in some of the areas I've applied it, which may or not be related. I'll try dabbing even smaller dots next time.

Does the trick!
I have used this for several years on 2 different horses and it has really done a great job of keeping ticks at bay! My last horse would get infected from bites before I started using it, once I started he never got bites or infections again.

No problems but uncertain of effectiveness
Fairly easy to apply but I haven’t noticed a whole lot of change in the number of flies bothering him. I chose this to help with our tick problem and I have not noticed attached ticks since starting.

Keeps the ticks off my horse
My horse came in from his paddock, and I found one tick embedded in his tail, and 4 more wandering the forest of tail hairs looking to latch on. I immediately ordered this product, applied it according to directions, and shazam...NO TICKS. I have used this product in the past to keep ticks off my horse. Another time, horse out in the pasture came in loaded with scabs between her front legs and many ticks imbedded in her skin. Picked them all off, washed the scabs, applied Equi-Spot, and bye bye ticks. Another friend uses this product for flies as well as ticks for her pastured horses in the summer. Works like magic!

My mare had a reaction
I used this on 3 of my horses and 2 were fine. The third one is a 6 year old, fit Gypsy Vanner. After I applied the Equi-Spot I continued to groom her and within 15 minutes she began getting very agitated, biting and kicking at herself and scrubbing her head on the fence until it bled. It took me a minute to realize it was exactly where I had applied the Equi-Spot. I had to bathe her twice before she stopped. She was so out of her mind I thought she might inadvertently injure me as I worked to get it off but I escaped unscathed. The other 2 horses showed none of these signs at all other than rolling. 24 hours later there are no flies on them! If you haven't used this on your horse before I would apply it to one spot where it would be easy to wash off and wait 15 minutes before applying the rest. I did pour it into a syringe to make it easier to apply.

Works great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ticks and lime disease are becoming more and more of a problem in Pennslyvania. This product really works. We used a tube on a rescued horse covered in ticks and they dropped off overnight.

Love this product
We use this product on one of our horses who has allergic to systemic reactions to fly bites in the summer. It provides us, and her, with the relieve from flies we need on her lower legs and belly—the area not covered by a fly sheet. Without it, we are constantly dealing with additional bites in these areas.

Works very well
I bought this stuff with no expectation, this stuff worked miracles! I had to relocate my horses for an emergency to an over grown pasture and the flies and ticks were horrendous! I used the equispot and I haven't had a tick on them since. I put a dab on the inside of each hind thigh and it has kept all the ticks off that buffet area. My gelding is super hive-y from flies normally and stomps and swishes constantly, with Equispot, I rarely see him do either now. My mare has good tough skin, but breaks out on her belly from flies, this stuff stopped that as well. It does last a long time, even through hosing and sweating. The only thing I dislike, it it's kind of difficult to control the applicator, and I do end up dropping some on the ground when I'm trying to apply to some areas.

Unsure of Effectiveness
Before treating my horses with Equi-Spot Fly Control, they were greatly bothered with face flies, especially at certain times of the day. After the first treatment I still notice flies (including face flies and deer flies), but they seem to be reduced. I will withhold my decision whether or not to purchase this product again until after the second treatment. I truly hope to see a marked difference since I have seven horses pastured and bringing them all in each day for sprays or wipes (which by the way also do not completely take care of the problem) is a chore.

I get this stuff every summer!
Equi-Spot is a must for summertime here in the midwest U.S. Keeps the ticks at bay--I'm not sure it makes a difference with the flies, but I'll never be without it as long as it keeps the ticks out of my horses' groins.

Works great for ticks
I got this on the advice of a vet to help keep ticks off my horses. I’ve been using it for a few months now and so far no ticks have been found on my horses. I wish the application process was a little bit better and I wish that it repels flies a little longer. Only repels flies for about a week and a half, Then I have to use another product.

great for ticks! wish it lasted longer for flies
I got this about four months ago on the advice from a vet. my horse's got ticks in their ears. after removing the ticks, I needed something I could keep the ticks off and out of the ears. I applied this. so far, no ticks. you reapply every two weeks. as for flies...works great the first week and part of the next, but then I have to use other sprays. you should also note that I also use fly predators and fly traps also.

Seems to be helping
Be very careful when opening and applying the product. It is a thin oily liquid that comes out of the packaging very easily. I applied according to the label instructions but still only used about half of the individual application. It is not always easy to get onto the horse, but once sprinkled in holy water fashion it gets the job done. Flies are certainly less pesky and she has less welts on her neck from being bitten. Seems the application device could be better suited for general application.

so far so good
my DWB has a very thin coat and the flies drive her mad. This seems to work well - not sure if by bathing her I have reduced it's efficacy?
NOTE: point the package DOWN when opening - it could backspray and end up on you/your face...
