Great pad for the price. I bought for the pockets. The shims are nice but squish down too much. I replaced them. Still worth its price for the pad and having options.

Good for the price.
The foam shims flattened once I was in the saddle and made the half pad slip. I made shims from a yoga mat and those work much better. My ottb lifts and moves under himself more with this pad vs a sheepskin (he has a well muscled shoulder that doesn't need the extra padding but lacks topline on the back where we end up using multiple shims. Nice quality pad but reccomend using different shims.

Great value.
My horse has a hollow shoulder and this pad has worked beautifully to stabilize my saddle while being comfortable for the horse. Well priced...less than having the saddler come out every few months!

Nice Shape
When I bought my out of shape untrained older mare I spent a lot of time trying to find a saddle that fit her broad shoulders. Now that she is fit, her shape a changed but finding another saddle means going custom. This pad with it's inserts seems to be doing the trick for us. It's too soon to tell if the inserts hold up but the flexibility and the pad construction is great. The fabric and the stitching on the pad looks like it will hold up well. A great value for the money!

Really great, but....
This pad is great- but worthwhile for the durable cotton shell only. The "memory foam" inserts are worthless and compress down to nothing even just between your finger and thumb.
I love the shell though, and was able to cut to fit my own inserts from a yoga mat! This was the best decision ever, as now there is really solid shock absorption, I still get the correction pad effects, it frees the wither, and the horse I ride shows no dry marks or rubs after our rides. Buy this pad, take the time and initiative, and you will have the perfect correction pad!

Returning, does not offer the correction I need.
I was using my barn managers Mattes Correction pad and loved it but did not like the price tag that it came with. I read the reviews of this pad and it sounded as it may work but was worried that the memory foam shims would compress to much, and they did. I even tried Mattes shims as well as thin line pad shims in the pockets and was not satisfied. I will be returning the pad and have purchased a Mattes pad. For a half pad and a horse that does not need a lot of correction it may work fine, but certainly does not compare to a Mattes pad. I am still going to recommend it, but if you really need correction, get Mattes Pad.

Love this pad!!
I love this pad! It has really helped with saddle fit . I love that it's washable (and I wash it a lot), and was so much less than the cost of similar pads made by bigger name brands.
The only problems is the shims compress quite a bit with regular use. All the shims ended up compressing to a fraction of their original thickness after a couple months of regular use. Replacement shims did the same and I ended up making my own replacements.

Improves saddle fit for a great price!
I bought this for my out of shape thoroughbred cross because I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money. I liked that this pad was shimmable so I can adjust it as she builds up her topline, but I wish it came with a bag to store the shins when not in use. Really helped my mare, I've noticed a huge change since using it. She's much more willing to engage her back end and lift her back and she doesn't seem sore when I take it off. Really evened out her sweat marks! It fits PERFECTLY under my 17" close contact saddle. Haven't washed it yet so not sure how it holds up, but it definitely seems well made. Definitely recommend it for someone who wants quality on a budget.

Works well!
I bought this for a hard to fit Saddlebred (who is a hunter--not a saddleseat horse) and it works great! It filled a gap and gives him a little more padding between saddle and pad without the bulk of a sheepskin half-pad. The inserts are amazing because they allow a more custom fit. I've had this for a month, and it dries quickly and still looks new.

returned for the mattes 1/2 pad
purchased this as i liked the idea of compressed foam inserts and it was cheaper than the mattes pad (which i already have and love). used the rear inserts and after the ride, decided we needed some front shims also. That's when i noticed that it had come with 3 sets of rear shims and only one set of front shims. The shims are not sold separately except for a complete other set. I also noticed that the shims got doubled up (lack of better word) after 1 ride. Smartpak was great and i was able to return it. i decided to replace it with the mattes 1/2 pad. The quality seemed ok but didn't care for the way the shims shifted.

Fit better than I expected!
This fit my high withered TB very well! She has a great topline build, but that wither can be challenging and my old half pad was getting some wear. Well worth the money, and not the most expensive out there for the quality you get!
